If anyone asks, Black Zarak is the rebuild of Scorponok after his body was destroyed in the Headmasters series ended. He built a new body for himself but was captured by Devil Z and reprogrammed to do his bidding.
@@thebrox_proo Devil Z is an Evil life-force entity with god-like powers. He appears as a pulsing blob of energy and is the the one who stole all the transectors to create a fighting force to take over the earth.
I've been making a concerted effort to get into other branches of the Transformers universe/mythos. I finished Headmasters and really need to do Masterforce and Victory. Watching videos of both, I can see why Ginrai gets so much love. Prior, I didn't like the idea of a human controlling a TF as a transtector (especially an Optimus Prime looking one) and them having sentai powers didn't help. But I've grown to like how OTT it can get. At least it's interesting and engaging as it's own thing and terms.
Most of the human-bond transformers, the Godmasters and Headmasters Juniors are in their youths and preteens except for Ranger, Giga and Mega who are clearly adults. Even Ginrai is only 19. I initially thought that Hydra and Buster (Darkwing and Dreadwing) are adults too but when I checked their data in the first version of the opening theme, I was shocked to learn that they are aged 19 and 17 respectively.
The Ginrai transector was to be used to help restore the original optimus prime to life. That's why it looks like him. However, it was stolen by Devil Z along with the rest of the transectors for his own plans. The english dub was done very cheaply and by people who just didn't know what they were doing. It was a mess and should be avoided in favor of the original dub with subtitles.

Technically, Prime died during Headmasters. The new body was among several shipment of Transtectors stolen by Devil Z from G Nebula. HiQ/Ginrai unlocked his Powermaster mode and merged with new body, hence the resemblance.(key source: Shuta and Grand's Masterforce Super-secrets).
Eugene Lau HiQ is NOT Ginrai, eventhough they with their suits on looks incredibly similar. HiQ is a Powermaster, while Ginrai is Godmaster. This does make a difference, allowing Ginrai to use some incredible skills and superpower, while HiQ only gets a power boost. Powermaster Optimus prime is still Optimus prime, but Ginrai is NOT optimus prime. HiQ doesn't get a super form and not even a double up while Ginrai gets those, well he does get an extra shell but that is not double up nor is it god ginrai. The key part is, even though HiQ is an individual, he does not pilot a lifeless transtector by himself, rather he provides the energy for Optimus prime to function, he can tell Prime about what probably is the best to do, but he cannot directly control the body. Ginrai however, is a godmaster who pilots a lifeless body, who for wtever reason, because one cannot find exact information(trying is very much appreciated, but conflicting answers is the problem), is nearly the same as optimus prime, nearly, because it isn't. Another problem is, HiQ as a powermaster, is not an individual lifeform such as Godmaster, the former is only a subgroup which not anyone would be but can be, and powermasters are actual Nebulans, a planet based specie. Godmaster is a complete another lifeform, even though their origins and goings are unknown off(Because MF ended with godmasters lost their specific lifeform and become a human and a cybertronian, but other crappy shenanigans were also mentioned so you cannot exactly call them extinct), they may look like humans but they definitely posses inhuman abilities(More or less Godmaster is only complete while the human part fuses with the robotic part, as a human Ginrai and such can still get hurt pretty badly, the transtector can fix itself even with massive dmg on it, but that is the extend of the seperated parts). I see where your confusions may come fourth, as Dreamwave comic called HiQ Ginrai in their comics, but implying a HiQ personality and such. Ginrai himself has a personality that is completely different from HiQ. But that could have caused the confusion.(Might also have to do with bad translations, because EVERYONE needs those.) In the Japanese G1 cartoon/comic continuity, Optimus Prime died at the start of G1 and NEVER returned as Optimus Prime. If you would watch Victory, you will see other main differences from the American G1 continuity and the Japanese one, that being in the japanese continuity, Transformers the Movie 1986 never happened. Therefore a lot of characters survived, such as, wheeljack who can actually be seeing in Victory. Since the Japanese continuity goes with HMj, MF, V, and lastly Zone, but Zone only got into cartoon as ova, and never finished the designated two, rather only 1 got out. And in none of those did Optimus Prime revive, nor did HiQ ever come out. The only one, is Ginrai, the Godmaster. Thx for reading through... if you did you deserve an applause...
Hmm..Must be because due to marketing and shipment of the toy inits' day, it was easy enough to mix up the characters. Importing the toy will cost the collector about 1000.00 and above to cover for shipment. Thanks!!
Adam Xue Right. The movie wasn't released in Japan initially, and so the quick recap in the first episode of Headmasters shows Optimus Prime being shot during a battle at the Ark rather than Autobot City, and he was killed instantly rather than being wounded and taken back to the med bay. The circumstances around Megatron becoming Galvatron was also different, since there is no mention of Unicron being responsible (this also means there was never any indication that Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps used to be different characters). Since all they really had were the Season 3 episodes featuring him, i'm guessing Unicron in Japanese continuity was just a giant robot who teamed up with the Decepticons. Initially during G1, Hasbro and Takara didn't see any reason to keep him around. The difference is that Takara liked the idea of rotating through different leaders and different casts of characters, so the did it slightly longer. This is one of the reasons Ginrai was created, plus Optimus Prime in the Godmasters wouldn't have made as much sense because the other robots were lifeless transtectors.
This show is decent, but its not a proper Transformers show. It has too many similarities to Super Sentai that it feels more like a season of it with a transformers skin painted over it. The human supremacy message that it gives off doesn't help much. Seriously? Humans can be better at being cybertronians than the actual cybertronians themselves? What the fuck? The franchise is supposed to focus on the Transformers, not the Humans. The main trio of villains (Giga, Mega, and Devil Z) also feel like they belong in Super Sentai, I mean, look at the former two's clothing! Who dresses like that in modern times other than to look different? Devil Z is that "true main antagonist" who sits around and gives his lackey's orders, Like many Sentai villains do. Also, it sure is a coincidence that this show came out a couple years after Bioman has been completed. Takara clearly didn't took inspiration from it right? Right? In case ya'll don't know, that Sentai season was also mech focused and was very different from the majority of the other Sentai out there. The only thing Masterforce is lacking are the Monsters of the weeks, but hey that would've been too obvious now wouldn't it? This show has spirit, but it does not have the feel of a Transformers show. It basically has the opposite problems of Headmasters. Only Victory has both Spirit and Feel. Edit: Oh I forgot, apparently in this series, all the humans have never heard of Transformers before, despite humanity interacting with them for decades. How retarded were the makers of this show?
