This song is just perfect. It doesn’t go all scrap brain trying to sell a dystopian feel, and it doesn’t go all miracle blue trying to sound sad and melancholy. What this song does is introduces a piano riff highlighting the beautiful greenery of the planet marking the camera panning around Sonic before the level. Then the camera turns around revealing Eggman’s mechanical decimation of the natural beauty that the song only further hammers home, with that piano, and especially with that bridge. And under it all is the swelling bass line marking the whole song with an undertone of rock and Eggman’s musical motif, the song progressing further and further into a hard rock guitar solo that, though brief, only serves to further outline Eggman’s dominance among the beauty of the planet and the song that can’t seem to escape Eggman’s machinery or the bass line
I think the guitar in the background represents Sonic as they play at the same time aka aligning together. And that the solo is eggman cuz the piano has a nice, quiet, moment and then the solo butts and when the piano returns it almost sounds like it’s trying to be louder to combat the solo. It’s such a cool song
@@maxtes252 lol true. I really liked the set piece though, a beautiful world filled with life and plantation, which slowly is taken over and replaced by eggman's industrialization
The very beginning part of this stage, with the powerful piano, the grass in the wind, the bright sky, open fields to run in... I wish all Sonic Games could take a lesson just from the first part of this stage. Such potential, an huge area to be speedy in. If my memory serves correct, the rest of the level is puzzles, (bleh), but that first part. If only a game could be all that. EDIT: Please shut up
I KNOW RIGHT! I always loved the way that stage started and I think about it every time I listen to this song. I still remember the first time I played it the moment he took off running it blew me away, the aesthetics of that area were really beautiful, and the short cinematic camera shot before he took off made it so freakin cool.
I love that it goes from slightly somber to hopeful as more instruments get added. Its like Sonic's bringing the planet back to life as he's running through the environments
It's exactly what Tails said in Sonic Generations about both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic: When the Sonic's accelerate through time they fix space returning color and life. Sonic's speed is so fast not even time itself is a match for him unbelievable
I remember when I first played this zone when I was younger, I literally restarted Act 1 over so many times to experience the music while running through that grass field. It left a really strong impression on me and many others. Like even my friends who don't really like Sonic games (they haven't really played any besides Colors and Mania) have very strong memories of that intro too. Idk what it was, but it's crazy that it left that strong of an impression on everyone that experienced it that I personally know
I am glad someone else shares my opinion regarding the first stage of Planet Wisp. I feel like Planet Wisp is where the game really shines most brilliantly. You start the stage running through beautiful natural grass field but before long you end up running on metallic and man made pathway and see the damage Eggman is doing to this beautiful planet. The other stages also open up brilliantly where you are usually inside a cramped up lifeless building before getting exposed to a beautiful panoramic view of the outside but once again you notice the done damage on this place and you feel more incentived to beat Eggman and protect it.
I remember this being my go to game as a little kid. I was always so proud when I beat a stage, and doubly so when I beat a boss. The music in this game is special to me as it was when I first got goosebumps from hearing music, and while the intro does that to this day, it can't compare to the wave of awe I felt hearing the piano and seeing the lush fields. In the intro, I always wondered, "When am I gonna be there?" so you can imagine my joy when I finally got there. I remember hauling my dad out to see that I was there. I miss being 7.
i feel some of you forget that remixes are almost never meant to be better or replace past songs. The CU remixes for the most part are still pretty great songs on their own even if the original fit the level better i personally love the hard banging synths the new remix bring to the table, but to each their own
Personally Sonic Colors has one of the weaker soundtracks of the series. However Sonic has the best soundtracks in gaming, so even at its worse better than most lol.

@Aaron Mitchell idk it kinda destroys the perfect balance the original had. This sounds like a perfect harmony between a peaceful grassy plain slowly overtaken my machines over the course of the song. The remix is trying too hard to be “cool” and gives me an anxiety attack. I do enjoy a good chunk of the new songs though. Not trying to put anyone down

Damn back in the early 2010s (2010-2013) it was Sonic Colors, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Lollipop Chainsaw and Bioshock Infinite now a decade later in the early 2020s (2020-2023) it's gonna be Sonic Frontiers, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, a Lollipop Chainsaw remake, and another Bioshock game. Is it just me or are they trying to bring back the old days again?
This game is underrated. It is really good to open you're mind for new beats(If you are interested in beats)
Mega ExE nah, it’s overrated. The music is the best part, it’s fantastic.
Say it to unleashed

I played this game before my long term memory even started to develop and I still vividly remember this theme
this OST is the best one that I ever heard on Sonic Games the nostalgia that gets to me while hearing this song makes me remember all the times i heard this song on the Wii it almost makes me cry :)
this song just screams "what the fuck, I didn't know Eggman was capable of... this"
COLORS ULTIMATE IS HERE :D
Ah nostalgia. Remembering the first stage of planet wisp. The piano. Running in the grass. Beautiful. Makes me cry
