Jane Andrews loved working for the Royal Family, so when she was suddenly fired by the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, it turned her whole world upside down. Desperate to remain amongst the wealthy and powerful, she became obsessed with her rich boyfriend Tom Cressman, eventually murdering him when he wouldn’t propose.

@larracassidylll according to this video Jane started working for Fergie shortly after the wedding. I remember all the articles on People magazine and other trash magazines calling her Frumpy. I would have never guessed she had a stylist. Even when she was young and pretty she dressed like an old frumpy lady. I figured that was just her style and she was clueless to fashion. I'm not sure what that says about Jane's abilities to style someone. Jane was probably a Yes person. Celebrities and rich people love surrounding themselves with yes people. Go along to get along. Usually Fergies daughters atleast are dressed nicely.

I’m an ‘80’s survivor too, and I remember the same. 🤣 Fergie was also known for “misbehaving” in public; she fidgeted a lot and made faces during long, boring events. 🤭
While we Americans LOVED (LOVE) Fergie’s warmth and humanity, I was disappointed to hear of her tendency to surround herself with questionable people and to get involved in suspicious activities, after her divorce.😊

While I think he’s nasty and gross. Deserves punishment. He was removed from all royal things. But at the end of the day that’s still their family. And not like a normal family member just dumping them on his ass he has a big target on his back and most likely would be harmed. So I get why his mother kept him behind the doors safe. Cause at the end of the day that was his mother. But also he hasn’t been charged with anything.

They are absolutely demonised and the diagnosis itself is thrown around all too often too. I was even misdiagnosed with bpd as a young woman with tats and piercings because of the way I looked (spoiler alert, it was autism). If you look or present a certain way, you're labelled with it and then stigmatised against in the NHS. Vile. So glad Eleanor did research in bpd spaces instead of journal articles.

It's not your fault though, something mentally was going on that you were unaware of, it was not your responsibility as her child to help nurture her, that was her own doing. Forgiveness takes a lot of time, if not forever. But trying to forgive actions that have no explanation behind them is something that's much harder. I'm sure finding out your mother had something actually going on was somewhat of a "relief". I'm so glad you were able to find the forgiveness in your heart. Even though she had her own medical "reasons" it's still so hard to understand it from an outside perspective because you don't understand how the brain works the way hers does. It's hard to reason with certain things when you don't understand and that is not your fault. I'm glad eventually you were able to repair the relationship, but at the end of the day with some people their behavior cannot be bypassed with a label of mental issues but I'm glad you were able to eventually to the best of your availability try to move past it.

Learning basic sewing skills is so important! I taught myself how to sew by hand as a kid, after watching my mom doing it and sneaking into her kits and practicing, and it has been so useful in my life. I've been able to fix sooo many items of clothing that would otherwise have to be thrown out, for myself and other people. Now when I go thrifting I'll still buy something if there's frays or rips if it looks fixable, or if there's a part of it that I don't like that I know that I can easily remove or alter. I highly recommend learning how to hand sew.

This case has genuinely kept me up until 4am, the way you described BPD was genuinely the most accurate description i’ve ever heard of. I was diagnosed with the quieter version of BPD, (i would never hurt animals or try to murder a human being), but the way you described the way jane felt made me just understand the thought processes behind her, don’t understand the murdering part, but just the way she attached to strongly onto people and then felt like her life ended when they left, touched me. This is by far my favourite video of yours. And to all the people out there with BPD, there is hope for us that we can grow out of this ☺️

I’ve been acquainted with so many people with BPD, including my youngest sister and my mother - every single one also met the diagnostic criteria for CPTSD, but so many mental health professionals have been embarrassingly slow to recognize it as a legit diagnosis. I believe eventually those two diagnosis will be merged, and it would help enormously in de-stigmatising a disorder that is much misunderstood. If others can just recognise that it is triggered by long term, repeated trauma, they might find it easier to show empathy for people who do deeply need and deserve it!

MOST people with bpd are rather… self inflicting. I have bpd and know many that do, and generally speaking from what I’ve witnessed, a really solid portion of people with bpd are the meanest to themselves and hurt their own feelings. There are many toxic traits that come with bpd, specifically in romantic relations. Jealousy, being distrustful with zero reason, taking bad things from past relationships and bringing them to the new ones. It’s a lot of work to get past those things, and absolutely possible.

@@ashleybehlert5842 that sounds like a conversation they would have, although I think there was very limited and primitive email in 1984. My mom was getting her computer science degree then. 🤣 This technology is so ubiquitous now days that if you're under 30 you might not even really remember what it was like in the days of DOS and AOL. We have an old rotary phone and before my parents finally got rid of the landline about 10 years ago it was fun to show the niblings how to use it. They thought it was magical or something. I was at Best Buy the other day for a keyboard and the very young man working there and I got talking about typewriters. Then I told him about adding machines. He said he wants a typewriter and now I think he'll look for an adding machine too.

I almost forgot this was about a crime. I relate so much to Jane’s story, from growing up poor to trying to fit in with the rich people you work for. It’s so hurtful to constantly be put down by something you can’t control (your low class from birth) by both those above you and those around you. Some of my first memories were about realizing my family is poor, too. My mother (normally a very collected woman) crying about not being able to buy food for us, or not being able to afford taking me to a hospital when I needed urgent medical treatment. It was a formative experience and I remember it clearly so many years later. Growing up impoverished can be so traumatic, and I’m sad to see that Jane never really escaped her beginning and ended up throwing everything away. Not discounting what she did to her boyfriend, it just hurts to see that this was the outcome for her because of how much I see myself in her early years.

My husband and I have been happily married for 27years but we are an exception definitely not the rule, we were 19 and ran off to Vegas. The two of us have had many bumps and bruises and have grown up together. He is literally my best friend. I’ve seen so many other people who married, young, or married quickly and we are the only relationship that we know that has worked out. It’s very sad to see.

I know I've suggested it many times before but I may as well push my luck because there's nothing to lose.. Would you consider covering the brutal murder of my previous teachers at malmölatinskola (Victoria Edström and Sara Böök) and also the outrageous claims of the defence lawyer (Anders Elison), trying to explain away the planned attack with autism.
These women deserve to be known world wide..and their stories too..they were so lovely and deserve to be known, especially as it's a Swedish case it isn't really talked about.. not even in Sweden anymore.
Might sound selfish but also for some sort of closure..? This case has really affected me, I think also because my friend was literally right next to where it happened, it could have been her, it could have been anyone..at times I even wish it had been me....
Either way it's been really hard and I think it could bring quite a bit of peace knowing people are talking about them..
And I'd be more than glad to help out if you needed inside stories or translation help. Hope you at least could consider.
    Much love x

@@UsagiMimiChuThank you so much, I can't really describe how much even the smallest of comments like "I'm sorry for your loss" actually helps in my healing, truly thank you.
And yes, it is bs, thing is he had two psyche evaluations and it came back that even if he did have autism it wouldn't have contributed to what he chose to do but his defence lawyer still tried to say he was so sick and couldn't think properly and that he was "so autistic" blah blah blah.
I know it's quite common to pull those cards but it infuriates me SO much and it paints a horrid picture of people with autism and mental health struggles.
Especially as it was a planned attack, maybe not the victims but the attack was still planned and he had done a bunch of research yet the defence lawyer still tried to act as if it was by impulse and I personally have horrendous impulses most likely because of my ADHD which makes me even more angry..
OH and he said that it was "typical for autistics" to like get fixated about things and said it could have easily been football or something else

As someone with BPD and in various support circles for BPD, I really hate the term "favorite person." People get excited over their favorite meal, catching their favorite movie playing, hearing their favorite song... Pretty much no one with BPD gets excited over having a new "favorite" person. It's a very unhealthy FIXATION on another person, and your own sense of self is dependent on how that person views you. While BPD is marked by emotional disregulation, fear of abandonment, low self-esteem, etc., any PERCEPTION of abandonment/neglect/etc from one's FP can cause MASSIVELY chaotic and destructive splits in their personality. We don't like the dynamic, and there's really no way to choose your person. It just happens, and then you're really obsessed with them.

Funny, I'm a similar age to Jane, and when I was a kid, I did ask for a sewing machine, and a lot of families did have an old Singer in the corner, and we were all taught to knit and sew in junior school, that's how it was then, things have changed so much. Also, it's totally believable that Jane was abused terribly and didn't talk about, and her mental health problems ignored because in them days things were different. No-one knew about depression, or how to deal with it, or that it needed dealing with. If you weren't eating, your mum would take you to the doctors, because they had only just heard of anorexia, but doctors would prescribe tonics to give you an appetite, and that was it! No thought that you had an appetite, and you were hurting yourself, so no wonder she was so messed up and developed BPD. No excuse to kill though. If he was a shit, she should have just left him.
