Great video. I recently purchased the Yamaha A-S2200 integrated amp for my home office, and LOVE it! After seeing this video, the new Yamaha Aventage is definitely on my short-list for upgrading my home theater A/V receiver from my 6 year old Pioneer Elite A/V receiver. Thanks for costing me money! I got an old Arcam AVR600 and it still rocks. Actually I preferred it to most of latest flagship AV receivers. Most of the new receivers are packed full of new tech but bottle out when it comes raw power and musically.

My friend had a Yamaha receiver and I was all set to to get the same one. When I went to the stereo shop to buy it, the salesman showed me the Luxman R-115. I auditioned both and purchased the Luxman. It sounded better. Shortly after I purchased the R-115, it was reviewed in Stereo Review. The amp section on the Luxman was much more powerful than the 70 Watt printed spec. The Luxman has served me well since 1987. Still love it. I like Yamaha as well, owning several of their products including a cassette deck and a streamer. Good stuff Gene!

Object based processing not feasible in current location so long awaited upgrade will have to wait a while longer. A friend who owned an electronics service company and did warranty repairs and other work on most brands told me Yamaha were the best of the 'consumer level' brands at the time because of better power and amp stages which was probably true then. I’m honestly MAD impressed! I want that flagship! When I first saw the new models they looked cheap, but when you mentioned the RX-A8A? WOW! Everything shifted for me on these new receivers across the line!
The one thing I HATE, though is the AV inputs! Why did they combine all the Analog and Digital Audio connections to ONE input?! NONE of the RCA audio connections are on independent inputs anymore. Now you have to CHOOSE Analog or Digital Audio or Analog video? That’s just despicably and annoyingly cutting corners.
Like you, Gene I’m also a receivers guy and I LOVE my flagships! I own most of the Yamaha Flagships, along with a few other brands. From the 2090, to the 2095, to the V1 and DSP-A1. I also have the RX-Z1, Z9 AND the Z11. And as of that wasn’t enough, I also have the RX-V2400 to the RX-V3900 and the RX-V4600!
So which one is my favorite? I’m going with the Z9! That’s my baby, right there! Combined with the Z11 for the updated HDMI Video processing and surround sound decoding and processing, it is THE ultimate combo for me! Combined with a matching Yamaha DVD-S2700 and the BD-S1065 (soon to be replaced with the S2900), the CDC-697 CD Changer, optional Bluetooth Receiver, CDR-D651, and the KX-W421 Double Cassette Deck, it’s the best of everything Yamaha I could ever ask for! Everything is also controlled with the RAV-2000 touch remote.
For speakers, I’m using a combination of Focal Chorus 600 Series towers for front and Surround Back, Center Channels, the Chorus 705 and 806V Bookshelf speakers for Surround and Front Presence channels, respectively on the Z11, M&K Onkyo THX, and Infinity Overture 3 Towers, and Alpha Bookshelf Speakers for the Z9 for a total of 24 speakers and 4 Subs!

Great video! My start with Yamaha AVRs goes back to my parent's RX-V630 back in 2002. They didn't upgrade for over 15 years. It was great. I replaced it with a Marantz SR5013 in 2019 which has been great too. For my own setups I've had a Harmon Kardon 2600 since 2010 that I've loved, and recently returned to Yamaha with a Aventage RX-1080. It might be my favourite receiver I've owned. Very Excited about the new AVRs. Sadly they are not out yet here in Indonesia and I have a few installs coming up and hope we can get them in time.
Yamaha have been our go to AVRs due to the build quality and better local repairability as spare parts are easy to get in Indonesia.
Used to install Denons but once I had to start getting some serviced it was a nightmare every time where it took 6-8 months to get a HDM board replaced.

Hey Gene - had an RX-A1030 for years (based of your website's reviews) running LCR and a sub and loved it. Sadly - an international move to the UK killed the sub amp and the sub-out of the Yamaha. It's now I guess an anchor. Based on this YT channel I now have an SVS PC-4000 and Denon AVC-X4700H in the same LCR setup. Love them too - so thanks for the recommendations.

I have a mid range Yamaha Rx-V867 (95W @ 8ohms) which was my first receiver. Have been watching movies and playing music for more than 10 yrs and still going strong.
Recently I got a used Denon 4308ci (140W @ 8ohms) and that also rocks. It's a model that was release a few years before the yamaha 867 but still holds up since it's a high end model.
But I have to tell you Yamaha has way better room correction, channel separation, dialog clarity etc etc compared to Denon. Even though I am comparing a 2010 yamaha mid range model to a 2008 Denon High end model, Yamaha excelled at basics.
I really struggled with dialogue boominess and audyssey setup on Denon.
Just want to put this out there. Power is not everything.

Just recently purchased a RX-A3080 because I did not know when a receiver better than my RX-A1000, which I needed a replacement for, would be available with the current inventory shortage. For 2k I think it was a good purchase. Don't think 8k will be widely used for quite some time. @@sanonmars Hello, when I wrote that I had the Yamaha driving the EVO 4.4, the bass it gave was not so good, but you only realize that when you change to better electronics. Currently I have a ROTEL MKII amplifier, Pre SCHIIT Freya+ and DAC SMSL SU9, and the change is ABSOLUTE. Better bass, transparency, sound stage and pin point. For basses, if it is important to reinforce with at least one SW, I have a POLK that covers under 60hz. And if later you can, you must pass yes or yes from the PC to a LUMIN transport, THAT Yes, it is organic and perfect (I thought that the macbook was good and clearly the PCs are not…) Greetings!

@@luisrodrigonunezolguin7038 Thanks for aquick reply. Yes I have good sub. But many times I like to listen Music in Pure direct mode i.e. 2 channel without sub. Thats why I want to upgrade Avr (is old without atmos and preout) and will add 3 channel Amp which will be taken from my friend. With sub I watch movies and music sometimes. In stereo mode bass is not what it is capable of with just 90w Avr.
I play music mostly tthrough Amazon cube with Amazon music and sometimes Spotify (nonsubscribed). Tidal is not available in our country. Other electronics are also less available and with price tag ulmost double than US. Sound from Mobile is also far better than PC. Music from PC is not an option even remotely. Movie from PC can be an option though.
