Maybe on this model this is the correct way to do it but I changed my 2013 outback in about 20 minuteswithout pulling the radiator.

Can you explain why it is necessary to remove the entire radiator to do this job? Seems like this could be done without doing all that extra work...the bolts are even at the top for easy access. Not trying to be critical, just wanting to understand.

You can remove the fan only.
This video should actually say 2009-2012. For the 2002-2009, the cooling fans have a clip that holds the transmission cooler line and it is very hard to reach. For the 2009+ they removed that, so I agree it seems like it would be quite easy to pull the fans out individually without removing the radiator.
This video also appears to be geared as a "radiator replacement" because they stripped the radiator completely and then reassembled it?

you do not need to remove any of that. pull ur car up on ramps/ brake and block it/remove engine cover top and splash shield bottom/remove over flow tank it pops off/disconnect both fan plugs 4each 10mm or 12mm bolts on top, pull up fan drop down to ground from engine bay/ fix whatever it is and reverse

Thanks for this video! We had this replaced on our 2017 outback 3.6r but only the passenger side radiator fan turns on when we have the AC on and idle. I’ve tried a bunch of different ac settings but none of them make the drivers side fan turn. Is this normal?

I assume going through all this work taking out the radiator before the fans is to avoid possibly damaging the radiator and/or tranny hose???

This should be titled “how to replace a radiator”, 95% of these steps are completely unnecessary for fan replacement, very misleading to unknowledgeable people. Turned a 10 minute job into an hour. 😂😂😂

Dumb question; do I need to fill the tranny fluid back up and if so, how much?
