A boy who dreamt of fire, destruction, and twisted metal! Word of the deadly travelling show spread like the plague. Great was my master’s skill in battle. But in the collection of souls, he was but upon. (sweet tooth’s ascension)
Days turned into months. Months into years. Desire turned into envy. And envy, turned into a plan. Calypso’s time as the carnival’s master of ceremonies came to an end! Did anyone pause to find a secret message at 2:00 and slowed it down? With a bit of dialogue saying: “Congratulations! I ALWAYS KNEW THERE WAS MORE TO YOU THAN ICE CREAM! WHAT IS IT YOU DESIRE, BOY?” (Probably a last minute script change which accidentally left one frame of it in the cutscene)

Is everyone just going to ignore how this implies Needles Kane to be around a century old? Also, it retcons Calypso being born in the '50s, but it wouldn't be a Twosted Metal game if it didn't retcon at least one element pertaining to Calypso or his powers.
I like to think the Twisted Metal games happened inside Sweet Tooths head while inside the insane asylum, which would explain why all the Twisted Metal games differ in varying degrees and sometimes replace or even change characters
So whats canon in the twisted metal franchise? First 2 games should be, 3 and 4 are at that early playstation graphics and its just ish. Black isnt even canon, Head-On is i think? And then the ps3 port was canon, pretty sure. It also makes me wonder who has the license to twisted metal? Because black is the only game you can buy from the playstation store as of october 5th, 2022, and its odd because this franchise kinda went in the sideline for being an iconic IP for the playstation. Even when playstation did its own smash bros i dont think any twisted metal character was apart of it. I thought sweet tooth did, but im thinking wrong. Anyone can help with my questions?
The first 2 TMs are definitely connected, with timelinewise Head-On following after that. TM3 and 4 are connected to themselves and loosely based on the first two's events. Black is canon since the big plot twist is that the entire game is just the nightmare world located inside of Sweet Tooth's mind so it fits in anywhere really. Small Brawl is a non-canon spinoff and 2012 is a full reboot.
this is a great game but this is where the series jump the shark when sweet tooth overthrew calypso and took over the tournament. Personally my all-time favorite is Twisted Metal 2 but this one still pretty good, even though it is a bit anticlimactic

Each game resets the story, in TM2 when marcus was introduced it was never implied that he and needles were the same, the implication in TM2 is that they are related, possibly brothers. In head on it doesnt make sense that they are the same person because they have different heights and weight in their stats.
