I did something similar with a Stanley knife many, many years ago and it cut clean through a pair of Levi jeans (which are quite a thick material), I paused waiting for the blood to run down my thigh... I took the jeans off (now destroyed) and there was not so much as a scratch on my leg. You have to be so thoughtful when using any tool.
My connecting ‘gadget’. The thing you attached to the pipe doesn’t fit Into the pipe from the dishwasher? Any thoughts. Are they standard sizes or variable
The pipes are usually a standard size, the connector can be hard to squeeze in sometimes, if it looks like it might fit then maybe try lubricating it with something.
1:13 Don't stab your finger/hand with the screwdriver, you might get a severe infection, better to use a cheap 'T-handle' socket set from the hardware store.
I just done this today on a new washing machine, it's not holding the water, spirts out every time the washer drains. I've tightened the jubilee clips as much as possible. Any advice?
Hi Can you give me any tips on how to unscrew a washing machine valve copper blanking cap, iv tried using standard pliers but it won't budge?? Id really appreciate any advice as Iv got a new washing coming.
This just doss not work at all for dishwasher outlets, particularly the Bosch countertop dishwasher I was trying to connect up. I've heard putting the end in boiling water can help But for me, the hose just does NOT go on the 17mm connector as shown in the video, boiling water, twisting, or none of that: it just won't. You have to buy a new hose.
yes it is definitely possible. You will just need to make sure you can get the water supply and drainage over to it. You will want to use some PVC pipe, mounted to the wall, with a consistent drop for the drain. If you use a hose just left on the floor over that distance you will probably get problems with stagnant water and therefore nasty smells.
As a ground floor flat owner, I would feel extremely uncomfortable if my neighbours above were connecting up waste hoses in this way. Surely a single pipe linking the pump to the drain should be highlighted here as the best solution? This looks like a temporary solution at best. Poor safety practice, too. No-one should be putting that much force on a screwdriver pointing in the direction of a bare hand.
A brand new hose is always the best solution. Having two potential leak points is always better than having 4. But I work in maintenance and honestly connection points like these are never the issue. The hose itself is just as likely to develop a hole randomly as it is likely that it would leak out of these connections. (Literally the issue I'm dealing with now) and to replace the entire hose means completely uninstalling and reinstalling the entire dishwasher basically I work in a big apartment complex, and the last 6 or 7 years, have had zero leak from connections like to these, they've all been from the supply side water lines or from the pump itself. You should be worried about the supply side water line as that can run continuously until the end of time lol while the drain line he's repairing can only pump out whats in the machine. Being worried about someone using this above you is like worrying a plumber used plumbers tape (I've had tenants worry about this lol) it's a tool to do their job safely. In regards to how he's using the tool, yes this is unsafe, I've stabbed myself a good 3-4 times before switching to a socket to tighten them (the flat heads are brutal/dangerous and require a lot of force to tighten properly)
When you're doing this, don't jab yourself with the screwdriver 3 times, though. It looks like it might hurt.
Thanks for the video.
God bless you all!
Excellent video. Thank you. You do provide both education and a bit of entertainment the same time. I appreciate that.
It's like the new ultimate handyman, but more regional! Simple and effective did my job, thanks for the link
Thankyou so much! I was about to disconnect the whole hose lol
What size connector did you use? I have a split pipe and the connector I used seems to be too small, it isnt a tight fit like the one you installed.
Very helpful, thank you.
You're welcome!
Hello what's that little piece called that you connected to the hose?
The part that goes inside is a "hose barb coupling/splicer". The metal clamps on the outside are standard "hose clamps".
What size is the connector
22mm
"Collar?". A hose clamp here in "the colonies." Thanks mate.
Nice one! Cheers
thank you. Just what I needed.
Glad it helped!
Hi Is that help do you try it ?
Thxs bro... very helpful
1:46 made me gasp! 🤣
That's why I use a 1/4" socket, never a screwdriver if I can help it...
@@arealassassin i agree, maybe a wider flat driver that fits would help too lol
Very close, you can see the white line on his knuckle.

thankyou so much
Most welcome
Mine leaks ?
What is that screw in coupler called? I need one for my 1-1/2" Flexible pipe. Looked on Amazon and HomeDepot!
in the UK they are called jubilee clips, in the USAI think they might be called worm drive hose clips or maybe worm clamps.
"Hose barb coupler." Home Depot plumbing section has them.
Hi,
Water stays in the pipe in these longer solutions. Any tips on how to make it flowing out?
It will flow out next time you use it
@@johnmcvideo Yes but the problem it's stinky, it's connected to the sink drain.
You want to put a u bend on somewhere as the water in the u bend should help to stop the smell
@@TheBlokeCave Thanks a lot
@@TheBlokeCave how many time bend when you have total 12 ft pipe that is 6ft connected with another 6ft to kitchen sink

What if the hoses are different sizes?/
They make couplers that have different size ends. For example, one inch to 3/4 inch.
thanks

Add a longer hose at the pump connection, avoid splicing. ua-cam.com/video/LUJfVK6cvAQ/v-deo.html
This is solid advice from @jeffwieser6514
Ignore this video, do it properly, or pay a tradesman to do it properly.

Ring spanner, box spanner. WD40 or heat it first.
Thank you so much! I was so clueless on how to safely connect the 2 pipes... 😂😂😂
Hello mate how the hell did you get that connector on is that a method to doing it I can’t get it no where near thanks
It was quite a tight fit but twisting and pushing at the same time seemed to get the job done for me.

I just got a new washing machine delivered today and there is no way to replace the short drain hose so I will have to do the same thing.
You worry too much
