Man I’m so irritated because I’m so close to this but the pandemic made classes way more difficult. It’s whatever I’m sure they’ll take this into consideration in college apps haha
The amount of black girl magic here 🙌🏾🙌🏾 as a Spelman alum, I’m not surprised they didn’t give any aid, they don’t give any money 🤦🏽♀️ we gotta do better 😩
Ayushi Jha Columbia doesn’t give merit scholarships, so you only get a certain amount of financial aid based off of your parents income. I received some financial aid, but I will admit it wasn’t that great for my financial standing
Hello. Thanks for your video!! Now I am a junior, and I would like to get into Ivy League after school. But I am international student, and I moved in US only 1 year ago, and systems of enrollment here and in my country are so different. Because of that and not knowing English, I couldn't take any AP classes, my GPA is about 3.8 and I am in second quarter in my school. In my country I had very good stats, but here it is so different, so my stats are low:( The same thing with extracirriculars. It makes me confused and nervous:(( Anyway, thank you again. You are awesome!!
I am a freshman in highschool rn and I am so stressed… I am not trying to get into a ivy (UPenn is my dream school) but I still want to go to a top school so I need a good app… So far I am doing Varsity Winter and Outdoor track all 4 years… my parents signed me up for a medical summer camp course for highschoolers at UMD and I am part of the biology club 💀 that’s basically it so far
And my GPA is not the best rn but it’s ok… Here r my freshman classes and 1st quarter grades… Hon. French 4: A+ APUSH: A- Hon. Geometry: B- 💀 Hon. English 9: A- P.E: A+ Hon. Biology: A- Ceramics: A+ I have so many A-‘s but it doesn’t really matter at my school because it still goes on the 4.0 scale. Also as long as a get an A this quarter in Geometry then my grade overall for the semester when be an A then I will have a 4.0 GPA UW and a higher GPA weighted 👍and I have my mind on joining a couple of honor societies next year as well as going over 100 community service hours… but that’s all I have planned
Schools don’t expect you to be perfect. Some students are well rounded (generally good at everything but not a genius or spectacular at any one thing) and some students have a spike (really good and have more expertise in one subject while being just okay or maybe even a little bit poor in other subjects). I think the latter is the most common amongst people. So it’s fine to only have a few things that you’re really good at (I.e. “spikes”). Mine were math and art. I also emphasized these in my extracurriculars and essay questions. Keep in mind that what you intend to major in or the type of school you apply to is relevant here. It didn’t matter that English and history weren’t my strong suits because I was applying to schools for engineering

Well, the fact that your black certainly didn't hurt. You must realize that with the current politics and "affirmative action" that everyone is going to assume that you got in because of the color of your skin not, because of your effort and hard work. If a white guy gets into Columbia, you know he earned it.
yawn 🥱. This is such a tired and uneducated response. I can already tell you’re not very smart which is why you’re upset I got in. I’ve graduated now and have a 6-figure job. Take it up with your ancestors 🤷🏾♀️
I am only a sophomore in high school and I have binged almost more than half of college decision reactions.
92/ 702 students. Top 13%. Really don’t know how to move up 😭😭
she only got in cuz she's black. Affirmative action

tips on getting a good SAT score?
Chile I wish. If I’m good in math and science but only moderate in English and social studies, would I have a good chance?

Hi, Thanks! And gpa is relative. I'm sure there are plenty of people who get into top schools with 3.7 unweighted. That's not a bad gpa in my opinion
