i don’t even know where to start with how impressed i am by you! i’m a black girl and i’m a sophomore and i’m super inspired by you 🥰 i loved seeing your acceptance video on tiktok! i’m planning on applying to columbia, upenn, and cornell and i wanted to know if you think i’m on track! so i’m halfway through 10th grade and my unweighted GPA is a 4.0. (weighed is 4.3 because i only take honors classes this year) so far, i’ve taken all honors classes + AP human geography as a freshman. I chose not to take AP US history as a sophomore because I hate history haha, but I’m worried this will look bad to colleges. although, there are only 2 academic AP classes for sophomores, and the other one is AP chemistry but i’m not majoring in the science field so I didn’t bother. I’m going to take AP Lang, AP Gov/Politics, and AP Music Theory junior year, and AP Psych, AP Lit, AP Statistics, and possibly AP French 5 as a senior. Do you think it will be okay that I didn’t take AP US history this year? I’m also in choir, the auditioned choir, i do volunteer work/am in volunteer clubs, i do theatre at school, i intern for the musicals at the middle school in my district, i’m working on booking some professional acting work (it’s hard with covid), and i’m trying to enter some national writing competitions because I would want to major in English literature if i went to an ivy league! i will be applying for my school’s national honor society (it’s for 11th and 12th graders at my school) and maybe national french honor society. my “spikes” are theatre/singing and also writing, so i’m currently in the process of seeing how i can stand out more in those fields with awards and competitions! i’m also in the process of starting an activism club at my school! do you think i’m on the right track? i’m sorry this message is so long but thank you so much if you take the time to read it, you’re absolutely amazing! ❤️
The fact that you're thinking so seriously about college as a sophomore already shows me you're on track. I think it's perfectly fine that you didn't take AP US History. I didn't take APUSH either and did just fine with college applications. It's been a while since I applied so I'm kinda removed from the college application process, but I would say you're on the right track. Try not to spread yourself too thin. More isn't always better
Do you have any advice on how to transfer to Columbia as a sophomore in college? I’m going to another university for freashmen year, but I was hoping to transfer into Columbia for my sophomore year.
Join clubs you like that your school does have. You don’t have to do the same things I did. Another option is to start NHS at your school! I think they have information on their website on how to do so
NHS isn’t that influential to colleges, since a lot of students end up getting into NHS.... just strive to do what you want to do in school, and you should be fine!
Love her energy 💗
Your videos are so fun to watch! Please post more Columbia content, it's so interesting and informative!! 😍
Thank you! I’ll be posting a move in vlog over my winter break so stay tuned!

If your school doesn’t offer it, that isn’t your fault and colleges won’t care that much
hey since you want to pursue STEM why did you choose Columbia over Stanford would love to hear your perspective
I never actually got into Stanford. I was waitlisted and I don’t think I was taken off the list, so I went with Columbia
do you have awards
Just track and field awards and an AP exam award. Nothing too serious
Drop it 🙄🖐 you don’t need it 💅
Facts, everyone is in NHS and it does not help you stand out
