So the main sheet doesn’t have a cleat? It has to be held under tension the whole time? The strongest blow I raced in was in a GP14 where the cleat broke, crewing for Muffy Bus. Once ashore, it took a good 1/2 hour to be able to open my hands. And I was young then.
I want to go into sailing with a small boat like these (Laser, VXOne, 470), but what repels me is the number of ropes and lines all over the place. Is such a rigging necessary ? Perhaps as a beginner I could use a simpler rigging for leisure sailing for the beginning ?
+Dimitris Tripakis If you are a beginner, i would go with the laser. It's small, and only has one sail. Depending on the setup of other boats, that means you have 1/2 to 1/3 of the lines. And in the beginning you don't have to adjust all of the lines, all the time, just set them and forget about it.
+Dimitris Tripakis A laser has a fraction of the lines this has. With a little experience you would find that the number this has isn't confusing at all, but if you want pure simplicity it's hard to beat the laser.
Dimitris Tripakis, if you really want no performance lines you can buy a sunfish or a laser. They are possibly the simplest beginner sailboats you can buy
start on a vx-one, is's the easiest to sail of the bunch and far more fun. the thing is a kitten. 22 knots down wind feels like nothing. they are shockingly easy to sail.
Jonathan Crowell Well yes you are true in that regard however adding trapeze(s) to this boat would be making it not class legal. Thus having no competitive advantage and quite literally not even allowed to sail for places
A great review - I want one!
Looks like good fun. Keep up posting videos. Definitely adds value to readers of your magazine like myself.
Awesome boat. Went out and bought one!
Four years new!
Is the last scene - the harbour - is that Cowes or somewhere else ? Flying fifteen owner here (Sail 2098) . Tim F

There is an optional cleat.
So fun!

Wonder if there could be a double or single trapeze model ?!?!?
mushy468 Yeah! That would be awesome!
Theres no point really. It's already got a weighted keel which makes it virtually impossible to capsize
No point? A trapeze would let you sail with more power, and a flatter boat, which would let you sail even faster.

is it a keelboat or a dinghy
+Llama Power its got a keel but it can be capsized
ok
thanks
If your prepared to sail one of these then you should spend a week end learning windsurfing. Much more fun.
Team33 so you’ve tried both?
Yes they are nice, BUT! VERY,VERY,VERY EXPENSIVE
zhikだらけ〜
Why do u hike out if it's a keel boat
you hike on any keel boat.
Keel is very light ... Whole boat only weighs 225kg or so...
lot of bs for a pseudo skiff
