This exactly is why the education system in Nigerian has to be revamped completely, like torn down and rebuilt from ground up.
A lot of Our people go to school but are so ill exposed and uneducated, yet they went to school. I learnt of cipolla’s law from my father at 15, that's 23 years ago, and it guided me so much. We don’t teach history in our schools, no ethics and civic duty lessons, no financial literacy training, nothing. Just a bunch of garbage that no one uses. A large number of People don’t know anything useful for mobility in today's world, yet the moment you try to correct them or teach them, they pounce on you and riddle you with insults. They dislike you and try to make you feel bad for attempting to better yourself. Same thing plaguing a lot of african americans here. That’s why I have not argued with anyone online for over 10 years, I just jump and pass. Unfollow and block. Protect my peace. Until we revamp the academic system and teach the next generation, this current generation is far gone. Until we teach the children, there’s no better future.

That is why Cipolla said that those at the upper quadrant should not be indifferent but should team up to checkmate the bad elements and the stupid ones who are having a field day while endangering our society.
However generally speaking, I must commend your valuable comment but disregarding or blocking unappealing or repulsive comments should rather be minimal so as to have time to educate and impact positively, and by so doing some could amend. Tanx

But if intelligent people like you decide to let the stupid people run the show without resistance from intelligent people just because they have given up on their not able to learn, soon every one of us will become stupid . Sir I employ intelligent people like you to continue to push and educate the stupid in the society , so that one day the number of intelligent people will out number those stupid people. Once again I salute your wisdom.

Pls Sir, we shouldn't give up, regardless. Otherwise, these bandits will ground Nigeria down to finish. We need people like u to still support & join forces together with the non-benefitting group @ the upper left quadrant. Thank u sir

Currently we have 5 cabinet ministers who have become dollar billionaires in 2 years. One was spotted wearing a $ 60,000 watch, $ 1,000 sneakers and $ 500 sun glasses. Our country has gone to the dogs.
Also Ruto is an outright American stooge and his handler is the US Ambassador Meg Whitman. You saw wheb Biden hosted him 2 weeks ago he allowed him to sit in the oval office desk like an exited toddler while selling the country short.

Daddy well said sir . But to be fair with the Electorate in the last presidential election. Nigerians actually learnt from their mistakes and they decided to do the right thing this time by Voting for the right man for the Job . Peter Obi . Majority of Nigerians voted Peter but their vote was truncated and INEC decide to put who they want in that position, disregarding and undermining the choice of the people. Nigerians did the right thing but INEC betrayed Nigerians. So I don’t think the blame should go to Nigerians. The blame should go to a failed and corrupt system like INEC .

I like this logical analysis using Carlo M. Cipola theory of "The greatest existential threat to humanity: stupidity."

    • @stephenpeters8207
      @stephenpeters8207 3 місяці тому +5

Carlo M. Cipolla's work on stupidity can be applied to electioneering and politics in several ways:
      1. *Underestimating stupidity*: Politicians often underestimate the number of voters who may make decisions based on emotions, biases, or misinformation, leading to unexpected election outcomes.
      2. *Stupidity in political discourse*: Politicians may engage in stupid behavior, like spreading misinformation or making irrational decisions, which can harm their own political interests or the greater good.
      3. *Exploiting stupidity*: Politicians may exploit voters' stupidity by using manipulative tactics, like propaganda or emotional appeals, to gain power or push agendas.
      4. *Non-stupid politicians underestimating stupidity*: Well-intentioned politicians may underestimate the damaging power of stupid decisions or actions by their opponents or voters, leading to ineffective counter strategies.
      5. *Stupidity in political decision-making*: Stupid decisions by politicians, like ignoring expert advice or prioritizing short-term gains, can have harmful consequences for the country or community.
Cipolla's work highlights the importance of understanding and addressing stupidity in political contexts. By recognizing the potential for stupid behavior and decisions, politicians and voters can strive for more informed, rational, and constructive political discourse.
Please note that Cipolla's work is meant to be satirical and thought-provoking, rather than a scientific or empirical analysis. Its application to politics should be done with a critical and nuanced perspective.

While I enjoyed the Cipolla characterisation, I often prefer the Greek characterisation which categorizes as citizens, tribesmen and idiots. I'm particularly concerned by your comment that you will not discuss Nigeria's issue again. Apart from the fact that we underestimate the number of stupid people in our polity and the damage they can cause, we also often underestimate their capacity to wear out intelligent people like you, thereby preventing the ability to form that critical mass that will begin albeit slowly to drive the change we all yearn for. This your exposé on Carlo Cipolla Principles as it relates to this Zoological Repugnance sorry Republic comprehensively dissects the protracted socio political decay and decadence going on in this society over the years. That in itself might still not guarantee the resurcitation of the new societies that had enmeshed herself into the cultural mess of her parent society.

Great message as always. Nigeria is a country deeply rooted in corruption which has made it possible for stupid people as well as bandits to take over the country. Thank you Dr Apoki for always bringing out the facts which are underpinned by the truth.

Kudos to you, Dr. Charles Apoki. That was a very brilliant analysis of Nigeria's present socio-political situation.
How I wished the helpless and the stupid ones can come to the realization of the need to join forces with the intelligent ones to overpower these bandits.
That way we can bring about a corruption free and an egalitarian society. These bandits are just too powerful, political, economically and otherwise.
More so, there is the need to bring this presentation to the public domain for reorientation and conscientization of members of the public.
They say, evil will only thrive when good people refuse to say nothing. The intelligent, helpless and stupid ones must continue to press until we emancipate ourselves from the hands of these bandits in government.
We need more of this, Dr.

Every one who os concerned should start to speak up about our INEC. INEC gave away the Nigerians vote to the highest bidder - how come No one is talking about INEC especially after seeing how South Africa’s elections were co ducted and results beamed internationally for all to see real time.

Thanks for this insightful presentation. The ibos would say "he that knows how to pound should pound into the mortar, but he that does not know how to pound should pound onto his toes" A word is enough for the wise

The consciousness of Nigerians can be raised if this amazing, thought-provoking lecture is repeated over time. It is indeed humbling for anyone to find himself in any of the negative classifications of the theory. This is a very resounding theory. Thank you for your role in elevating the social consciousness of this country.

A very Good Evening to you Sir.
After carefully listening to you twice, I found the dept of your wisdom and vast "researchful" knowledge. My comment is that Sir, YOU CANNOT STOP ADDRESSING THE CHALLENGES WE ARE GOING THROUGH AS A NATION, PLEASE SIR. You may decide to soft pedal a little for now...that might be acceptable in a way, but PLEASE, don't consider quitting sir... I can tell you from the eyes and mind of the Spirit of God, that DR. CHARLES APOKI has been preserved and kept by God as one of His "Remnants" for such a time like this, because you have SO MUCH to contribute to the "REBUILDING OF A NEW NIGERIA" that is to come and has already been concluded by God.
Take note of the key word sir, "REBUILDING". Selah!
Thank you so much for your contributions, and God bless.

Your contribution to the public debates is very commendable. However, some people have started hailing you because they think you are on their side, especially when you mentioned 25% vote of Abuja and saying "emi lokan" thing. The more neutral you are, the more your message will be acceptable to all. The type of rigging in the last elections was unprecedented, and it was all over the country, including the South East where Obi scored 95%. What is now happening shows that the Obidient movement was never an ideology but a collection of aggrieved individuals pursuing different goals such revenge for Endsars, pursuing the actualisation of Biafra, and personal vendetta. If you say anything slightly against Obi today, by this time of tomorrow, the so-called Obidients will be dragging you. An ideologically based movement will not be so intolerant, rude, and unrully. No sane person will like how our country has been managed since independence. Tough decisions are needed to reset our priorities. Even our president is not yet getting it right because the whole system is faulty. The youths should fight to change the system and not to sheepishly follow someone who is obviously looking for an opportunity to be called the president. Can't see similarity between the PDP where Obi left and LP where he was accomodated in order to get presidential ticket. Some of us are not carried away by spurious messages.

Obidients can’t be difficult to notice. I honestly don’t know the difference between Obi and the bandits Dr. Charles is talking about. The topic says the mistake Obi made, but to be fair on Obi, he never told the Obidients what he wouldn’t do. He confirmed it at every opportunity that he’s not different from his APC and PDP counterparts, but we stay here to just look at him different, we are doing the man a disservice portraying him for what he’s not.

Your analysis of the system, particularly Nigeria, using Cipolla's formula is as accurate as God's analysis of situations.
