Saiseiga is an awesome band. They hit very hard but still have catchy melodies. You need to check out "Ride On" and "Go On!" a couple of older songs but definitely good ones.
I think the pronunciation is "sigh-say-ga", as Sam said at 0:15 - that's what everyone seems to have settled on anyway. If you want to hear them live, I recommend anything off the Let It Shine DVD, for example Go On! (ua-cam.com/video/qmLs2AEwkc0/v-deo.html). Their more recent official lives don't have as good sound as these. I bought that DVD with low expectations because I wanted to support an exciting small independent band, and I was blown away by it. The vocalist and drummer were previously in a band called Zettai Club, and if you listen to them (e.g. 夢幻大スリラー, "Dreams of a great thriller"), you'll hear yet another side to Regan's voice, reminiscent of Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus. One of the most versatile singers I've come across. And you were right first time - the guitarist and bassist are male. EDIT: I'd forgotten about Ride On, live, from a month ago. That's also a good option.
Yes. Yes. More. This song only gives you a taste of what this band can do. They have a lot of variety. From softer melodic songs like Emerald and Persona to epic heavy tunes like Jumble and Level5. They do not have any bad songs. You will love every single one of them.
They are a mixed female/male band, vocalist Regan and drummer Tohko are female, while the guitarplayer Wakkun and bassplayer Katsuki are male. They are pretty new, but unfortunately haven't really caught on yet. They deserve way more eyes on them imo. I think they would work really well for a lot of fans of Nemophila or Hanabie. The pronounciation of the band was pretty good (Sam is generally pretty good), but the pronounciation of the track is like the band Hanabie without the eh part at the end. I would recommend using googles translation website, set it to Japanese and listen how it's pronounced, that generally works pretty well for Japanese since it only has one pronounciation for most sounds. The tracktitle "Hanabi" means fireworks. Like was mentioned in other comments Regan and Tohko were in the all female band Zettai Club (絶対倶楽部). Regan already used some harsh vocals in that band, but was usually singing clean, Zettai Club are closer to Unlucky Morpheus in sound. Btw, Regan is an absolute beast live.
Lead singer sounds like Band-maid on the cleans? Maybe if you dropped Band-maid's Saiki's voice down an octave and gave it a more raspy bite....and punchier vibrato. :P REGAN (vocalist for SAISEIGA, pronouced: SIGH-SAY-GAH) is much more versatile, but I understand this was just your first impression with just one video. :) This song only featured 2 of her vocal approaches (1 on the clean side, 1 on the harsh side) and also only featured ONE of several flavors SAISEIGA provides - who, like their vocalist is a pretty versatile band. You should definitely check out JUMBLE next for a different, yet just as impressive flavor and style from this amazing and VERY underrated band. Really, there are LOTS of songs I'd like to go ahead and list, but from my end I rather not get too many lost in the shuffle. And just to give you a quick idea of SAISEIGA's creative dynamic: REGAN/vocalist is the lyricist, writes the vocal line and comes up with the thematic concepts of the songs. Wakkun/guitarist is the primary composer on the instrumental side, with Tohko/drummer and Katsuki/bass collaborating in the process. They each have their own particular musical leanings and personalities, but in their list of varying influences what brings them together is obviously Metal, but even there they have their own differing, but complementary favorite sub-genres. Outside of Metal, however, if you catch any Punk Rock like you did in HANABI, that comes entirely from REGAN and Katsuki. If you catch any Prog, that's entirely from Tohko. And as you go along, if you catch any Electronica/neo-psychedelia in the mix that's coming from Wakkun. I hope you continue to do more SAISEIGA, they really deserve more attention! :)
guys, thank you so much for your dive and appreciation in the japanese metal/rock scene. in august 2023 a supergroup band/project launched their first single "evolve". for me a hot candidate for song of the year 2023 already. the band/project is accompanied by mao, who is the sixth secret member od lovebites. video is shot by lovebites video director. please do not miss: "East of Eden - Evolve" watch out for the bassplayer..
Japanese Music is a deep.. very deep rabbit hole. There some Layers, like the Destrose Connection most of reaction channels follow. And of course Babymetal. But it gets much more intressting as soon you go deeper. like a commercial spot for a Hair Dressing saloon in Harajuku called Candye Syrup. Or a female guitarist born without a right hand but played in a Metalband. Her name is Lisa13 However, what would be the best start into japanese Music. How about a Band called Gallhammer?
Close :-) Sigh-Say-gah is right, however the song name is just Ha-Na-Be (fireworks), not to be confused with the band Hanabie. (Ha-Na-Be-Eh. - cold flowers)
@@simno345 I was thinking the band and not the song...my bad (which is dumb because we are obviously talking about the song). Hanabi seems to be a popular song name for Japanese bands because Mary's Blood, Wagakki Band, Maiko Fujita and Im sure others all have a Hanabi song.
Dang, 10 month to late. Saiseiga, a nice band indeed. My first contact was around 2 or 3 years ago and still a fan. You asked for a live video. Have found a nice live. Its from 2021. Germany was deep into that pandemic stuff. Lockdowns, Clubs were closed, while this band was playing live on stage in Japan. That felt so strange. It is from the Team A'Thrash youtube Channel. The guitarist (Wakkun) and bassist (Katsuki) are guys; the singer (Regan) and Drummer (Tohko) are gals. They are absolute fire live.

They are still underrated. They recently posted a live performance of their song "RIDE ON" on their official channel, which is sick 🤘
Guys, they have a great new song/video called "Strange Rain." Check it out.
I highly suggest their song "Jumble" it goes hard! Best up and coming band for sure.

Singer and drummer (the two women) came out of Zettai Club ("Ultimate Club") which disbanded three years ago.

And I just found out about Band-Maid now I have to check out this band.
Ah yeah! This is one of my favorite bands! Please check out their songs Jumble and Ride on, I think you guys will love them.
Hanabi - Firework🎆😁
Great reaction guys, next you can do "Jumble" or "Ride On", both are great. 🤘
The singer kinda' reminds me of you, Chris, the way she slid in and out of screaming quite seamlessly.
Kiri chan is a top tier drummer. Talented band.
So happy you reacted to this underrated group. I am a fan of Tohko the drummer 😊
What the heck are they feeding Japanese women? Lol
If you want something brand new, try Killt Melt Land. You can thank me later. Rock on guys!
Someone who likes Pikarin as well?
I agree with you

@@sjnix7044 No problem, I thought that might be the case ;-) And yes, they do love their fireworks in Japan. Tamaya!!! 🙂
Just pronounce the vowels as in Spanish and you'll be OK most of the time.
