The events in 2016 led to Marc starting a youtube channel in 2017 so it's basically cemented in time as the most inluential year in NBA history. Edit: Though I think the fact that 2016 had one of the best Dunk contest in years was also worth a mention
@@shamsielshahar120 48 wins, tied for 3rd in east with 4 other teams, deep bench, top 10 in offensive and defensive rating. It was a statistical anomaly and I wish it got talked more about because of it
Best dunk contest ever best finals ever .best record ever .first unanimous MVP ever Kobes last year .two 3 1 comebacks back to back .by far best season ever .
Honestly probably the biggest fork in the road moment in nba history was lebron winning the ring in 2016. If that happens honestly probably like 85% of crazy trades and free agency signings just don’t happen or it plays out completely differently. Durant doesn’t sign with gsw if they win a ring, likely returns to okc and who knows what Westbrook and kd could’ve done with more years together. Houston probably doesn’t find it necessary to trade for Chris Paul an offseason later seeing as there isn’t one completely ridiculous matchup they need to prepare for. Kawhi NEVER GETS INJURED and probably remains a spur for his entire career, he got injured played the kd warriors the next season so that matchup may have never even happened if not for the kd signing. The raptors probably keep the derozan and Lowry backcourt together. Cousins might’ve continued to be a king without the whole “super team” trend and New Orleans trying to hop on the bandwagon. The grizzlies would be in a completely different situation seeing as they likely don’t trade gasol, and that would make them better the year they drafted JA which means they probably wouldn’t have ended up with him. Pelicans probably don’t end up with Zion either. If the Celtics didn’t end up trading for kyrie they might’ve actually valued Isaiah Thomas and allowed for him to get proper his rehab which would rob us of his playoff run in 2017 but he might still have a quality career. Wiggins is probably seen as a bust if he’s never on golden state, and Minnesota would be in a completely different situation rn. Gordon Hayward might’ve not gotten his career ruined by injury either if he hadn’t signed with the Celtics, which would be less likely without kyrie to incentivize him (still possible tho because of Brad stevens). The butterfly affect is ridiculous man. Kyrie probably still wants out cuz he’s corny
the warriors are the first and only 73-9 team in nba history which is the best regular season record ever but in the same season they are also the first team to blew a 3-1 lead in the finals
Steph was making about $12 million. A NBA champion and unanimous MVP with the most crazy shooting splits was making $12 million. That’s how they got KD. Steph didn’t get his bag yet per his contract.
also Kawhi on his 2nd straight DPOY award and Duncan retired on the same season its just a shame that didnt they passed the 2nd round that year cuz i believe they can beat the Warriors i think the Spurs will not choke against them because the very next year Kawhi have a MVP season leads them in 2nd seed 61 win team again blew them out in the first game of the season and blew them out in the Game 1 of the 2017 WCF until he got hurt
Amazing this video is a masterpiece almost as good as the 2016 season itself It was a crazy year for sports in general in Europe Leicester won the premier League Totti retired IMO as the Goat of Italian football In an heart breaking ceremony with the whole stadium crying in sadness Rome didn't care so much for a guy since Caesar Augustus probably Then I think Olympics Usain bolt last gold and many more Go Google any big sports event from 2016 something monumental and historical happened in almost every league
Basketball gods were cruel. You got your craziest season. Hope you liked it. Time for the most boring years where everyone knows the champion before the season starts.
Ja shooting Abe Lincoln is crazy lmao
Ja Wilkes Booth 💀
@@benzabeast -- can't spell James Wilkes Booth with JA.
"Where's JA" - D Chapelle
@@benzabeastgoat comment
Abe Lincoln should've been replaced with Adam Silver lol
How was this a 5 min video??? It covered so much and was so immersive it felt way longer

2016 was indeed the craziest year indeed. Another MDJ classic.
Indeed
Blocks per iq point is crazy lmao
🤣🤣🤣
I was just about to say that lol
is he referencing smth specific here
The craziest thing about all of this? The Charlotte Hornets made the playoffs
And they were a solid team too. It's not like they're in the playoffs begging to be swept by the 1st seed.

@@bearcatfan1000 I just also realized this is the year where Batum signed a 5 year $120m deal. I wish MDJ included it in this video lol.
@@shamsielshahar120 Oh God he should’ve. I forgot about that contract too lol
ye the Heat faced them in the Playoffs right? DWade is balling during that series too

Bro forgot about the craziest dunk contest ever, 2016 really was NBA peak
The chaotic energy of this video is exactly what I needed in my life
Instantly one of my favorite UA-cam videos I’ve ever watched. Combined basketball with great comedic timing
Also the dunk context this year was great too
Man what a year. Great times probably the best season I’ve ever watched
great video, didn't realize so many historic things happened that year.
No mention of Aaron Gordon/ dunk contest
I actually called in sick to work just to see game 7 of the finals. I was rooting for the Warriors but that was still a crazy intense game.

You didn’t mention Tim Duncan and KG also retiring :(

Honorable mention to Tyler Johnson’s 4yr/50 RFA deal to stay in Miami; the Nets forced the Heat to give him 39mil in years 3&4 😆
2019 off-season might have been the crazier off-season tho!
Warrior fans cry whenever they hear 2016
Really missed you bro
W vid what a memorable season

Don't forget: Tim "The Big Fundamental" Duncan retired during the offseason after 19 seasons!
The NBA is just now starting to recover from the Golden state KD years
White side catching strays 😂
paul pierce just caught a mean stray ☠️
You’re right about Stern
RuneScape music at the end
Keep making video it’s funny
Bro really said Booker’s 70 was insane when it was done during garbage time and the whole team just force fed him the ball 😂
MDJ = 🐐
Love's moment should be the greatest defensive effort given by a bad defender
the warriors are the first and only 73-9 team in nba history which is the best regular season record ever but in the same season they are also the first team to blew a 3-1 lead in the finals

What in the NBA Storyteller?
As a Warriors fan, lets not talk about 2016. I prefer 2022.
Oh nice, we the same age
how dare u forgot the all stars that year, dunk contest in particular and maybe the drake ruined kobe n bron pic
