coming back to the end of the regular season, currently there are 5 people who finished the season averaging over 31 ppg, there are 7 people with over a score of 42 in ppg+rpg+apg and steph and shai cudve been 8th and 9th if they had done only a little better, as they scored 41.7 and 41.8. not only this, but KD has the highest true shooting percentage with 67.7% for a person scoring at least 25, 26, 27, 28 and even 29 ppg in a season, and he accomplished this in the 2022-2023 season. Additionally, at 74.4%, louis king is doing the same for at least 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20+ ppg this season. Jokic is doing the exact same for 21, 22, 23, and 24+ ppg at 70.1 ts%. This season, true shooting records were set all the way from at least 13 ppg to scoring at least 29 ppg. That is absolutely incredible.
2 of the 5 greatest nba games of all time according to gamescore were played this season, 3 of the 10 greatest, and 4 of the 15 greatest. Thats absurd. For anyone who said this wasn't going to continue when this video was published, you were 90% wrong. The stats are still crazier than ever.

The problem with the PPG graphic is that nowadays defense is treated with much more scrutiny resulting in higher amounts of foul calls and points. Teams are giving up more shots and transitioning to a completely offensive game which is why you can expect 9/10 games to go triple digits and beyond. I think the mvp caliber players are all good scorers but these numbers are heavily inflated from just playing in a different era.

The league is so slanted towards offense nowadays in terms of foul calls and rules (players can take three steps sometimes even more, moving screens are rarely called, etc.) that you do have to take these insane numbers with a grain of salt. Players are averaging so many points because the league wants them to. Look no further than their international numbers to prove it.

Rose was an MVP with multiple great seasons before an injury compromised him and now he's still playing well but not at the same level. Griffin is a similar story but was never anywhere near as great as Rose. Lin had an amazing stretch of games in one season and that's about all that can be said for him. yeah but he's also talking about this season like its already over. we're only 20 games in, these stats will get less outrageous with more games played. so this video is kinda pointless and a little bit misleading. should've done this vid in march next yer. not much better than the mainstream sportsmedia headlines.

Yeah the stats and facts he put into this video take work to assemble, but this video is useless and outdated in a few months. He also does a lot of oddly specific stats to make certain players seem outrageously better than everyone but never gives much context to the stat.
I used to be a fan but his analysis is starting to get lazy and gimmicky if you really pay attention to how he manipulates stuff to make a player seem godly.

This historic season be so outrageously different because it’s so much easier to perform in this era?
No one can lean on you, hand check you, or give you a hard foul. It’s easy to score points, get rebounds, get assists and pretty much everything else you want to do.

Booker, Giannis, Embiid, Jokic, & Mitchell are definitely in their primes now.
While the young players like Luka, Tatum, SGA, & Morant are playing like their also in their primes despite their age.
And what's with the veteran players like Lebron, Curry, & Durant who still can put 30 - 50 pts in a game despite their late age.

Tbf you could give a shoutout to Jokic's TS% when you talked about Curry's; right now he's at 69,4 TS% which is better than what Curry has at the moment. Last 3 of Jokic seasons have been insane, and he is probably going to end up as the most efficient (both shooting wise and PER) superstar in nba history, the guy is massively underrated. IMO he's going to win his 3rd straight MVP seeing how strong the Nuggets look this season

When you have many people doing what has never been done before, there is reason to be skeptical about how much the change can be attributed to individual skill. Notice these stats are all offensive minus rebounds -- which likely results from the simple fact that more shots are being taken than ever before. Rule changes and game plans have changed the game so much that stat comparisons are not very telling. Now scoring in college basketball is much harder than in the NBA. It is like they are playing knockout.
