The Body turned it into an on-the-job learning exp. He did not miss a beat. All due to respect to Cole and Corey, especially Cole, but listening to Jesse made the match more enjoyable and more immersive.
We went to the Show - my son's first Live Event. It was great. He was so pumped. Even my wife - as casual fan - had a blast. The matches were solid and the Crowd was Electric.
45:46 I know Jim and Brian will be doing a passing reference to Chelsea vs Michin US Women's title match. Had Jim noticed Chelsea's trajectory for the past 6 months or so: the crowd reciprocating to her efforts (Her MITB 2024 performance, the crowd rooting for her in the US title qualifying matches- her "maximising minutes" backstage on TV when given a chance), he could have given more weightage to it. She was the favourite to win this title ever since it was announced. The folks at the Nassau Coliseum were solely invested in Chelsea's victory, surely not because they were "easy going". But hey I get it, Rhea was not working this match.
Chelsea Green is great! She's a very good character. I love how she was praying for Mia to get counted out so she could get the win. She's got more personality than Rhea.

It seems forgotten, but about a year ago live on RAW someone jumped Seth. I didn't watch it, so all I know about it was because Jim spoke about it. Evidently it was on the side of the ramp entrance, some idiot jumped the barrier way in the back and caught Seth from behind. I guess Seth turtled, and security jumped on the guy. Jim was pointing out that talent are told to NOT TOUCH the fan, because of potential lawsuits, that's why Seth just covered up, whereas in his day they'd have beat the tar outta the guy, etc... But your story is from a different time, when yes, if you stepped to a guy, they WOULD prove to you it's not fake. And with all the horse testosterone flowing through those guys, I wouldn't want to try them either.
I too thought they dropped the ball on the intros a little, but all I needed was the Obsession music and Jesse the Body returning to call a match…and heeling it up immediately by calling Dusty fat.

Jesse was amazing. I liked him at the podium to start the show (completely disagree with Brian and Jim), and I absolutely loved him on commentary during the main event

Saturday Night's Main Event was never a live show back in the day, most of them were taped weeks in advance. But very few people were spoiled because no internet like today, it was harder to access that info unless you had a weekly dirt sheet (which I never had, & nobody I knew had.) or called some 900 wrestling hotline and they didn't spoil things that much. "The Main Event" even rarer on Friday versions were live, including the Hogan vs Andre title change in Feb 1988 and Mega-Powers breaking up in Feb 1989.
You sure about that? The mega powers break up episode had a big time blunder by hogan in the back when coming back from commercial. That would not have been left in a taped show.

Lacey Evans can stay gone she’s the reason I got let go by the WWE Student Initiative while I was at Full Sail. She told whoever was over Nxt at the time that I threw a table. I was happy hearing she got released.

So I booed her every chance I got. When that gimmick didn’t get over I was the happiest person alive. It sucked even more because we’re both Marines (2007-2011).

Yep, it was a huge deal at the time. I remember getting to stay up extra late to watch if dad was running the show. It really seemed like a big event as you never got to see those big matches between top stars anywhere but pay per view. Most free TV content was just matches with jobbers and segments furthering angles for the big shows coming up. It was awesome to get those big matches and amazing angles on free network TV. The whole thing with DiBiase buying the title from Andre after the whole twin referee thing was just amazing to witness in real time as a kid, it's still absolutely iconic.
I really hope they bring the Winged Eagle Title or a new version of it back, because compared to the current design, it's so much better. In regards to Lacey Evans, I think she's doing Only Fans now.

I was a little annoyed with Jim during his review. But then I remembered, deep down, Jim HATED the 80's WWF because they were the main enemy to the wrestling promotions that he worked for and loved. Jim has never been able to completely bury his contempt for the wrestlers and product of that time. That's why he gives such lukewarm praise to the Bulldogs, The Hart Foundation, (and especially Brett), Demolition etc and why he dislikes people like Jesse Ventura. (and yes, you can tell, he dislikes Jesse and he can't hide it) Jim is bitter about that whole time and the fact that WWF hurt Mid-Atlantic so much.
I really enjoyed saturday night's main event jesse Ventura did such a great job on commentary rooting for kevin owens and making cody look like the heel was perfect he hadn't missed a step since last doing commentary in WWE on an episode of raw in 2009 which I completely forgot about TBH can't wait for the next episode on January 25th.
I watched this SNME which was the first wrestling show I watched in real time since the early 90s. I feel like the wrestlers are so drab now. They aren’t characters and they look all the same! They don’t even have nicknames anymore… all their names sound like regular people names. And the wrestling itself does not look tough. Nobody fights like that! It looks like gymnastics! Also why are there so many titles now? What is the difference between Cody’s title and Gunther’s? If everyone is a champion, nobody is really a champion. My husband and I agreed that three titles worked best: the tag team, the intercontinental, and the WWE title. Six nowadays bc there is a woman’s division which to me is the only way modern wrestling is better-that the women actually have a proper division and are taken seriously. My husband said the women fight more believably than the men and I agree. I like Cody bc I grew up watching Dusty, and Ventura was great as was the winged eagle belt and OG theme songs but the wrestling itself… meh. Also the show should have started with the wrestler promos and fast music like Brian said-as a kid that got me so pumped for snme. I enjoyed the nostalgia bits, but I’m still going to turn to the archives when I want to watch wrestling. The new stuff just doesn’t excite me. It’s too scripted and acrobatic and generic looking now.
Jessy is from a generation LONG past. Young kids at that time nor their parents (including mine) had any problems calling Tito Santana "CHICO Santana" not even Tito has any problems with it. It was part of his character. People today would say it's racist and stereotyping. EVEN IF Tito laughed about it. Tito was the one that gave Scott Hall the name "Razor Ramon". Scott asked Tito what name of latin decent is considered tough or manly at the time. Tito said "Ramon".
Jesse did great especially for being gone so long. Kind of exposed how bad WWE needs good heel commentators. He didn’t speak in sound bites, or do mini promos for the guys in the ring.

I really enjoyed saturday night's main event jesse Ventura did such a great job on commentary rooting for kevin owens and making cody look like the heel was perfect he hadn't missed a step since last doing commentary in WWE on an episode of raw in 2009 which I completely forgot about TBH can't wait for the next episode on January 25th.
Since they were touching on flubs on the mic. Are there any famous times where Vince Mcmahon flubbed on the mic? Quad tear at the rumble is excluded

I watched this SNME which was the first wrestling show I watched in real time since the early 90s. I feel like the wrestlers are so drab now. They aren’t characters and they look all the same! They don’t even have nicknames anymore… all their names sound like regular people names. And the wrestling itself does not look tough. Nobody fights like that! It looks like gymnastics!
Also why are there so many titles now? What is the difference between Cody’s title and Gunther’s? If everyone is a champion, nobody is really a champion. My husband and I agreed that three titles worked best: the tag team, the intercontinental, and the WWE title. Six nowadays bc there is a woman’s division which to me is the only way modern wrestling is better-that the women actually have a proper division and are taken seriously. My husband said the women fight more believably than the men and I agree. I like Cody bc I grew up watching Dusty, and Ventura was great as was the winged eagle belt and OG theme songs but the wrestling itself… meh. Also the show should have started with the wrestler promos and fast music like Brian said-as a kid that got me so pumped for snme.
I enjoyed the nostalgia bits, but I’m still going to turn to the archives when I want to watch wrestling. The new stuff just doesn’t excite me. It’s too scripted and acrobatic and generic looking now.

Jessy is from a generation LONG past. Young kids at that time nor their parents (including mine) had any problems calling Tito Santana "CHICO Santana" not even Tito has any problems with it. It was part of his character. People today would say it's racist and stereotyping. EVEN IF Tito laughed about it. Tito was the one that gave Scott Hall the name "Razor Ramon". Scott asked Tito what name of latin decent is considered tough or manly at the time. Tito said "Ramon".
Jesse did great especially for being gone so long. Kind of exposed how bad WWE needs good heel commentators. He didn’t speak in sound bites, or do mini promos for the guys in the ring.
