Life in the Rice Terraces of the Philippines

- We are in the lush, green mountains of Barangay Bayyo, Bontoc where the picturesque rice terraces thrive and grow. For generations, the Ibayyo people hold a sacred relationship with the land that they live in, and we were fortunate enough to be invited by a local to witness the rice planting process from start to finish.
Khachiw, Tapuey, and Safeng-these are the treasures that await us on our journey. We’re going on an epic adventure with our host and guide, Tatay Dionisio, who generously shared the beautiful sights and flavors of his home with us on this once in a lifetime experience.

Since my siblings and I were born and raised in Baguio, this really resonates with me. Hopefully this will lead to more awareness of how precious this way of life is and allow it to flourish and thrive.
This is so nice! My children grew up here abroad so I show them every videos that contain Philiipine history and culture not to mention your delicious recipes. .You are doing a marvelous job, and you even travel. So wonderful and thank you so much.
Love the ending punctuating the import dependent and export oriented nature of the Philippines. If only we could reverse that.
Your vlog like this is very refreshing and relaxing to the eyes, mind and heart. Always looking forward to more of this!
Your vlogs deserves to be on TV. ☺☺☺
👍👍👍 💯💯💯
thanks for featuring our humble home😘
One of the best features I've seen in a while. Like I'm watching an internationally produced movie.
Another wonderful look at this fascinating place, but please be more consistent with the subtitles. UA-cam is a global platform and good subs really help reach those curious about the people and place 👍
These rice plots are disappearing more and more tbh. and all of them are being transformed into subdivisions. instead of flourishing these farmers and lands, they're poor and not even given proper payment with the efforts to make a living.
Read it's also partly our fault, we forced our equal inheritance laws on them. Apparently prior to that only the eldest inherit land. Since now it get split every generation, it has come to the point that the plots have become small and just barely enough for subsistence farming.
Subdivisìons?
@@bientan7605 that's what they call gated communities here
@@bientan7605Yeah I agree most of the converted rice farms aren’t in the highland terraces like the topic of this video but in the lowlands
Subdivision sa imong mata
Thanks Erwan for featuring a pocket of the Cordilleras
Awwee, Thank you so much for this FEATR! I really enjoy this kind of videos! More for this! 🎉❤😮
proud Cordilleran here! 🙋♂️
Raw and organic feature.my maternal grandparents are farmers din kya fave ko rin mnuod mga gantong vids though mskit sa hart tingnan na very little lng ang support ng govt ntin sa mga farmers😢
That was a nice coverage of the area, the khachiw caught my interest.
I love this! It would be cool to see you guys document the rice terrace farming traditions outside the Cordilleras, like in Tayabas (Quezon) and Antique.
Happy New Year from Illinois! I love this type of documentary! You did a FANTASTIC job--beg, mid and end. My sister farms rice in Neuva Ecija and now I really appreciate what she does even more. Thank you!
Grabe yung cinematography 🥺🙌

2:14 Why did you say the rice terraces were "infamous"? Do you know what infamous means?
ayy! sige turuan nyo po 🤦♀️ ikaw lang siguro may alam kung ano po "infamous".
Paki Google po ng infamous 😀
I wonder how they cultivate red and black rice.
They are just another variety of rice po. They are cultivated the same way din.
The way she said hwhite. 😂 5:45 She’s Hank Hills distant relative.
Wait. I didn't know there were other ways to plant rice

The ancient Chinese started rice cultivation in Asia.
Haha shut up Chinese bot. Not everything is Chinese origin .and who cares if china first cultivate it. . It doesn't mean that they are source of rice in the world
Are you a Freemason?
