look at Rogers here in Canada, they actually have announcers that get hired to be cheerleaders. I forgot who got fired/released a few years back for clearly not being so. Nobody talks about the Rogers bullied positive Blue Jays bias going on up North. Yet it is real and off putting.

The Jon Miller dispute in the '90s was by Peter Angelos. The video "credits" it to John Angelos, but as you can see....like father, like son.

I liked listening to him and Joe Morgan calling out the LCS and the World Series.
His "sing-sing" delivery is reminiscent of the late Keith Jackson's.

However, they took positive steps towards finishing over .500 last season. Also, they've built an impressive team through the draft.
Hell, before those couple winning seasons the Os had 13 losing seasons in a row, going back into the 90s.

This is what’s extremely confusing to me. Why would he be the fall guy if they had a graphic and everything that gets cleared by production way before the bit even hits the air? Almost makes me think there’s something else going on here
I think Kevin tells the graphics guys what they're gonna play on broadcast. He still did nothing wrong.
The worst part about this is that the Orioles own MASN. So any notes or graphics that go on the broadcast are approved by the team's own PR department. And yet the broadcaster who actually speaks the words on air gets suspended for something the team itself planned and approved.

Hey be happy knowing your team is legit this year. I have been a lifelong Astros fan but living in VA have adopted the Orioles as a team I follow form having been to Camden Yards (LOVE the park) several times.
Lets calm this down a bit. This is essentially a non-story. It has nothing to do with the on field team or its management. Dont let it take away from the season the actual team is having

Crazy that it’s partially Angilos’s fault that the team was that bad and he gets mad when people point it out, I’m so glad the other announcers all came to Brown’s defense.
He is clearly angry about people pointing out his past failures, so he just takes it out on whoever says it, regardless of who actually came up with it.
If anyone is bringing shame and bad attention to the Orioles it’s this ridiculous owner. I’m sorry to the announcer and Orioles fans. You’re having a great year and now this is a big punch to the face!!!
I’m glad this is getting a ton of attention all across the MLB. I’m really hoping this will come back to bite Angelo’s hard. He doesn’t want this team to win, I bet he’s angry that the team is doing so well. He’s done nothing even remotely good in his tenure as the owner, and his father didn’t do much good either. The entire Angelo’s family is cancer and poison to the O’s and to their fans. I love Kevin Brown, he’s one of the best announcers we’ve had in Baltimore, 2nd of course to Gary Thorne. I hope he resigns and gets hired for way more money at a place that will respect him. I love Brown, but he needs to be at a place where he’s respected and treated right. That won’t happen under Angelos. One way to stick it to him is to resign and get hired for more money.

If I was Kevin I would resign and not come back unless my contract was reworked to include a substantial pay increase. Thanks to this incident I'm sure he could easily go work for any of the other MLB teams. Working for the Orioles is like walking on egg shells. You never know what you are going to say they will offend one of the snobs in the front office. If they'll can you for reading approved statistics on air you could lose your job for saying anything they deem as an insult to the organization. If I didn't know any better I'd think the Orioles are managed by communist China.

I like John Miller... I get the basic game info in a quick, concise update when tuning in to a Giants game... he's professional and sounds like he enjoys his job.
I switched over to a different game a week ago after enduring an announcer's constant critiquing and blathering about the techniques/flaws of each batter & each defensive play ad nauseum... I do have eyes and am capable of observing what's going on in the game without constant assessment by this guy.... I think it was an announcer for the Brewers.

@@1891kmk 2 things. 1) he could try and help de-escalate something which could potentially have large issues with the union American Sportscaster Association IF other announcers and teams continue to vocalize the issue. 2) he has a rare opportunity to do something he knows the fans and people would like and support and not criticize him for 🤣

Jays fan here. And I'm beyond livid this happened. He was being professional, the stats are true, and the Orioles like several other teams I support or watch closely are poorly run. Are play-by-by and colour commentators not allowed to impartially and professionally state the facts, even if it is hard truth? Kevin wasn't even badmouthing anybody or saying considered derogatory / offensive!
He is also responsible (as CEO of MASN, the Nationals’-Orioles’ broadcaster) in the suspension of the Nationals’ former color analyst FP Santangelo, who was accused anonymously of sexual harassment. MASN suspended him and publicly convicted him *before* the investigation began. Santangelo was later exonerated by MLB and reinstated by MASN. I lived in the Baltimore-DC area for 15 years and was a fan of both teams until this new leadership took over. I ignore them now.
FP sucks as a broadcaster, and possibly as a human being, but no one deserves to be railroaded and convicted solely in the court of public opinion on the merits of anonymous allegations.

I'm a Houston Astros fan, but this was insane. I actually enjoyed listening to him! Think he did a fine job! We support you Kevin! Stuff like this, unfortunately, is the only ill will the league would feel against the Orioles organization (as you mention). Very sad, because they deserve all the love they can get.

Bad management is bad management.. Losing 110 games and suspending your commentators for speaking the truth are both results of being a subpar franchise. They might be good this year but they'll lose 100+ games again in the near future.

If the game is fixed you would see things just like this, that do not make any sense. Also it seems like someone that isn’t playing on the team wants negative attention thrown towards the positive things they’re doing this year. If I had to guess , it’s someone that wants the O’s to lose so they can gain more power or wealth. Keep your eyes peeled for stuff like this and it will be easier to discover the corruption in the game we all love. Godbless.

If they really wanted to fix the games there’s so much they could do that wouldn’t hurt the fan’s goodwill with the team, whereas here while this is obviously a bad pr move I’m not sure how much it actually affects the orioles winning chances.

Mel Allen was fired by the Yankees in 1966 for admitting attendance had tanked as CBS ownership plus a depleted farm system for several years had dropped them to last. So look on the bright side - his name can now be in the same breath as that great voice. At yesterday's game against the Houston Astros, the fans were shouting" Free Kevin Brown" and it was very loud.

I am not a lawyer, but would it not be within his rights to sue the organization for firing him and only him? If it was in the notes and the production team made a graphic, and only he got fired, could he not sue for some sort of discrimination or anything?

I'm glad you noted the prior issues with the Angelos, John and Peter trying to control the commentary about the team. They are extremely controlling for everything that is said about this team. Even while they failed to spend any money, let all their stars walk while signing washed up vets for the last year of their career (Sammy Sosa anyone?) and any dissenting thoughts were crushed by ownership. They even cut out one of the sports talk radio stations from having any media access since they spoke the truth during the nearly 40 year World Series drought. The Angelos need to go. The Orioles are winning despite the ownership.
