    The fisheries guy's should carry flare kits and sell them to fishermen when they're in remote locations. Do this instead of fining people, now they're compliant.
    You could get a fine every day if they wanted to follow you around.

    • @TrueNorthAdventures
      @TrueNorthAdventures  Місяць тому +5

      Yeh not a bad idea. Be better than a fine and then leaving you with flares that “don’t work” 🤷‍♂️

      sO DO THEY CARRY LIFE JACKETS, RADIOS, ETC.ETC. tHE CAPTAIN OF THE BOAT IS 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFETY.... wOULD YOU EXPECT A LAND BASED COPPER TO CARRY ROADWORRTHY TYRES AS SPARES AS WELL IN REMOTE AREAS? aLS FLARES ARE AVAILABLE AT wEIPA, cOOKTOWN AND kARUMBA.

    Flares last 20 years, what a cop-out.
    Easy to throw fines about when there's no skin in the game and the people supply everything.
    Nothing worse than a gubberment stooge who hands out fines that has zero efrect on safety.
    Legalised theft and karma gets those narcissistic parasites eventually

    Flares save lives and yes they do last a long time but this isn't like driving in a car the ocean is a harsh mistress. Cop the fine on the chin and make sure your solas gear is in date

    Top notch video again boys. The production gets better and better as you go along, and I can't wait to see the next few episodes!
    Have to say im jealous, a trip my grandfather and i always wanted to do in our reef boat was to go from weipa to the torres strait and back and you guys are pretty much doing the opposite! Unfortunately he is about to sell our reef boat as he is becoming too old to do big trips anymore, so i want to get up there one day and do it in his honour.
    Good old fisheries are always around hey! Especially up the cape, ive had more encounters with them there than i do here at home in Tully. They've always been pretty decent fellas though. Sucks about the fine - i nearly got done for that a few weeks ago, thankfully my Fiancee reminded me to get new ones 😂

      got to fill there quota they are just stealing our cash not safety, Most accidents are caused by poorly designed and badly maintained roads.. Were are they strict on this ? just a money grab don't let them tell you its safety. The Police know the system and the quota for the amount they steal per day. Order followers even if its not right they should refuse to do it, Do you agree ??

    Look fellas flares can sit in your boat never get touched or used so it’s easy to over look expiring dates, the fisheries bum wipe could have given him time to correct and replace the flares with a fair warning , fine straight up is bs unless he has been warned before then the fine would be deserved , I never had a fire extinguisher on my boat once and just gotta warning because of you carry a Battery onboard anything could go wrong ie, fire , anyway I put one in my boat soon as I got home also I wasn’t wearing a life jacket got a warning for that so I wear one now all the time when on my own , I think fisheries could cut some slack with a warning like I say unless the person has been warned and fined before then deserved, just my 2 cents worth guys.

    • @BundyToo
      @BundyToo Місяць тому

      @@TrueNorthAdventures I just checked and they say not needed in smooth waters, being rivers etc and within 1/2 a nautical mile of shore. There maybe something that says if you are equiped for outside of smooth waters (as you guys are) and do carry flares they must be within date. Would have been a been a good point to bring up at the time, posably gaining some leniency but too late now.

    When travelling remote this safety equipment sort of stuff is particularly important. Good to see they actually fined you as warnings usually don't have much effect. Onboard my vessel is a few rocket flares and distillation kits which aren't required for that vessel size but are far more visible and the ability to make water out of Seawater may save your life one day too. .
    Good content though and I respect this being included. Despite being shit fishos the episodes are worth a geez. Well done.....I'd recommend trying some of the old dog lures made over there in QLD. Designed by Dave killalea the previous owner of killalure.. He has sold the okd dog lure company now too though .
    Old flares are good to get big bonfires going too but I still keep a few onboard as I've seen 10 year out of date ones work fine when stored properly

    Its not hard to make sure your safety equipment is current. It could cost a life if it isn't. Flouting the law is a bogan attitude.

      @TrueNorthAdventures  Місяць тому

      We agree, unfortunately the flares were just a couple of months out of date and we are 100% confident they would work exactly as intended. New flares are on the boat now though.
