Excellent work! Love the way your family pitches in. With that fan running, you don’t need a dust collection system, you have a dust dispersal system! 😆Keep on making these videos, you got me hooked. Dan
This is a very good video. There is much I'm doing differently but nothing I'm doing is any better. That said, I often focus on cost benefit. You put a hell of a lot of journeyman work into 320 square feet under roof. Thanks for sharing your thoughtful work and generous life style with us.
Hey Joe, Great shop, will be a great place to work in out of the weather, whatever it might be. Another good video. Appreciate what you are doing and look forward to new ones every week. Let the little one know she was the highlight of the video...and to her....Good Night Sweetie...
The little lady at the end convinced me to push the sub button, lol! I've got 3 daughters myself, and I'm a sucker for a confident kid. You've got a great channel here and I'm looking forward to using this info when we buy our house next year. #thumbsup
I got them led overhead plug n go lights at Costco too. They are super nice. yall are going to love and enjoy that Australian Shepherd. they are amazing additions to the family. you all will belong to her instead of the other way around. GBY!
Gotta say it man, love the shop but the last 40 seconds sealed the deal. You have a follower for life. I have two little girls myself and you have got a beautiful one there. Soak her up while she is little. Love the channel and you are an inspiration brother! Take care! - Doug W and Family!
I like the idea of surface mount electrical my husband and i are building a wood shop and we thought about sprayfoam insulation we are in Upstate NY my concern was covering the electrical with all that sprayfoam this is a great alternative to wires in the wall great idea.
NOTE regarding electric... there is no 10ga wire anywhere in the runs.. the main run is #4 and the welding circuit is #6. And yes the panel is grounded:) Sorry for the confusion but I didn't show or mention all the steps in the process as I don't want this to be a 'how to' wire video. For full wiring information for your area consult your local building dept, an electrician, and do a LOT of research ;) Thanks for watching and your concerns!!! :D
SUGGESTION: Regarding the AC (Because Arizona can get so frickin hot in the summer.) Instead of getting a window unit or an in wall unit, you could go with a little roll around unit for the same price. I have a cheap one for my daughter's room that is 8,000 BTU and cools about 300 sq. ft. room. You can roll the unit around to where you want it and vent it out the existing windows. Or, you can also build a small shelf for it and vent it like a dryer, with a much smaller hole in the wall. IF you want something a bit classier and nicer looking, you could go with a split system heat pump that both pieces are wall mountable. (But they start around $1500 for the unit itself and may require a certified tech to install.) Also, you're going to want to build brackets for your solar panels to pitch them more perpendicular to the sun. This way, you solar panels are getting the most amount of light on the cells. I have one of those units on my shed, and I do use the mounting bracket with the gimbal. Haven't had any issues with the winds, but I live in west Phoenix. I know my dad's property by the Hassayampa River gets a lot more wind, but I don't think the gimbal or bracket would have a problem.
Good point about checking the local codes. Here in Washington, for instance, you would HAVE to run the full 3-wire romex. They will not allow you to use the conduit as the ground.
Pretty nice work again man. Good to see that you are a cool daddy too. Hope you can teach your daughter a lot of these skills. I think it is unfortunate that women don't get taught this stuff more in our culture.
Joe, the shop looks great. This video was so warm and cheerful with your cute dog and fantastically charming daughter I was shocked that anyone could ever give it a thumbs down but there must be some very unhappy people out there. In years to come, when your daughter is grown up you will remember camp out nights and they will be special memories. A HUGE thumbs up from over the pond.
Thanks Tony! Yes, my daughter has my heart strings for sure :D And Olive is sure to be in many more videos... might train her to get my tape measure as I always leave it in random places...lol As for the unhappy folks... well, they are just happy being unhappy...lol... but I much more appreciate seeing comments from folks like you, and I just forget about them;) To make the trolls happy would be like asking a politician to be honest...lol...not gonna happen;)
I LOVE your shipping container project, we are in the process of buying one for our homestead to act as storage at first as we are doing our final move with the military but after that you have inspired us to do something else with it in the future :)
thanks Suzy! I agree... she is my little princess and I don't show her all that much in videos for obvious mommy/daddy protective reasons... but this was just so cute and I had to show her off a bit :D Joe
I like what you are doing with the electricals. Looks safe and well done. I had one of those precious little princesses...about ...well, she has a mid-twenties son now, so a long time ago. I relish those dad/daughter events. Enjoy!
Wow, I remember when my daughter was that age. She went hunting and riding a little trail bike with me. We went on many camping trips, too! I love that container/ workshop; I may get me one of those (if I can afford it). Thanks for the video, Greg.
yes, they do...and yes, that seems like it was just yesterday but she won't even come close to fitting in that now. If you look closely on some of the videos... the tree that is just down from the end doors on the shop has that swing hanging on it:)
Joe - STOP APOLOGIZING!! You and Your Family are Doing Fantastic Things...you inspired my wife and me!! We are doing a modified Earthship Biotecture build north of Reno-Sparks, Nevada on the top of a mountain!
encore un Génie du bricolages pour le conteneur il et Magnifique très bien penser et bien épuré franchement très bon boulot a bientôt pour d'autre vidéo.
Fantastic little dog, I am so glad you are going to have her in doors as a proper pet. Too many people get a dog and stick it outdoors in a run and it has no company or other interests, dogs are pack animals and do best with lots of contact with people. It is interesting to see how electrics are done in other country's here in the UK we tend to go overboard with dedicated earth wires and 240 votes.
Very cool. I like your idea for the LED shop lights. I have a waterproof deck with a carport under it that I plan on turning into a work space. I think I'll give a try as well. Thanks for all the great ideas!
that sounds like a great use of that space under the deck! the led lights should give lots of useable light and they're really easy to install as well:) joe
If you plan on adding AC to the shop go with the newer split AC units. A small wall unit is mounted a few inches below the ceiling and just drill a 1 1/2" hole to run the high and low pressure lines and power to the compressor which can hang on the side of the container. No need to cut holes or modify the windows.
Thanks! yes we did... it was a lot of fun and we had a good night sleep too... but she does wake up at the crack of dawn every morning...lol.. and daddy would have been happy sleeping in a bit more...lol
it was a lot of fun! I plan on making her a little playhouse with the scrap cutoff section from this build... I'm sure we'll do some camping in that one too :)
Nice job! Well thought out. That's a great space for you to work in. We have an Australian Shepherd also, great dogs! They are very smart. And your daughter is adorable. 😊
Thanks Steffanie! Yes, she is my little sweetie and I hope to have a little area set up for her to come in and work with me:) and yes, shepherds are awesome dogs... we had a shepherd mix before but she passed last year and that's one of the reasons we decided to look at aussies:)
It's so amazing to have watched the progress of this job. Thank you for sharing. It looks so good!! Will definitely follow on IG. The cutest ending of a UA-cam video EVER!!🙌🏼
PerfectTangent thanks! I actually made a video a couple years back on it...old crummy video...but it works great and when the pallets wear out I can throw some new ones up:)
Oh your welcome ... thank you for showing other fellows what it takes to be a man. My late husband was like you and we had a ball. So your an inspiration to people around the world. Say hello to your wonderful wife as well. We'll keep watching !
The shop looks great, congrats. Get a split AC unit, a 8000-12000 BTU would cool off the place nicely. Forget about that fan, you can't shoot videos with it running and you'll find yourself sweating all the time. Window units are cheaper but again more noise and not video friendly.
Hey Joe. love your pup.keep Olive inside when your gone.she is now part of your familay.protect her .anything could happen while your away. predators, and sick wacky people who like to steal peoples pets.better be safe than sorry and heart broken. hope you take my advice.
That last bit just made my day. Great video Joe and congratulations on a job well done! Super impressed. Welcome to the channel Olive, don't go chewing Joe's tools :&)
Thanks Charl! It did mine too... I don't often put her in the videos for obvious mommy daddy reasons but it was just too cute and I was so proud!! As for Olive not chewing on tools... we are good there but it's my gloves she loves to swipe when I'm not looking....lol
What a great video, given me some great ideas for the future. You also have a lovely family and kids love the adventure along the way... keep them coming. Subscribed and liked 👍
I would leave the wood under the roof exposed. Just stain it or whatever you use for weatherproofing. I think the contrast with the side of the container looks good.

That shop look sweet Joe! That swing out fan was a great idea, doesn't take up the limited floor space. One of my favorite channels on UA-cam
Adorable little girl, and a cute new puppy! You do good work, and I can appreciate how you reuse, or find substitute materials. Thanks for the videos.

'Thumbs up', coolest of all of the hand gestures!
Adorable! And the shop progress is awesome. I am looking forward to seeing it outfitted. Good work, Joe.
Obviously, your daughter and Olive are the stars of this video - despite ALL the hard work and innovation you put into the container shop!

Like the idea of the outside work lights, I have some smaller LED work lights, and love them. The shop looks awesome, nice job!
Thanks Carlin! Yes, the LEDs are great and they don't get super hot like the incandesencts do!
Nice work Joe! I know you are going to love having a shop like that. That fan will help for sure. Don
Lights look great. The design is cohesive and modern. Love it.
OK, need to put a Big screen TV in the man cave shop. Enjoy that little one, before you know it she'll be a teenager like mine. Enjoyed watching.
That was as sweet video with your little girl. Cool shop Joe. Love your vids, God bless. 👍🏼 ;)
all looking great. cant wait to see what comes out of this shop
What a cutie! I think I'm in love. This project has really come together nicely.
Oh what child wouldn't be happy with daddy's achievements, what a cutie. You've done well son, a gr8 accomplishment. Cheers 👍

Nice job. That's gonna be a great shop. Awesome puppy too.
Very nice! Hope to be doing this to a few containers up in the Yukon. I will be using your videos as a guide. More insulation, of course. Thanks!
Looks great! I helped convert a 40 foot container into a shop and installed a mini split ac with two evaps in it. Keeps it cold! Also in AZ.
Looks really neat, and plenty of electrical connections ;) great job man!
I hope you and your pride and joy had a great night camping out :)
Thanks! yes we did... it was a lot of fun and we had a good night sleep too... but she does wake up at the crack of dawn every morning...lol.. and daddy would have been happy sleeping in a bit more...lol

looks great joe, the sockets you have over there are like little shocked faces. I had a feeling you would end up sleeping in there.

Congratulations on the near completion of the project definitely can see myself moving into a shipping container. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
thanks so much Fadsad! I can say that it was pretty comfy during the camp out too :)
Joe
Excellent project. I enjoyed the series.
Great job on your shop / playhouse !! To cute
Great job Joe!
Your daughter is absolutely adorable!
That so cool. like always Joe, great build.
thanks VG! I appreciate it:)
I would leave the wood under the roof exposed. Just stain it or whatever you use for weatherproofing. I think the contrast with the side of the container looks good.
you are going to love that electricity. Nicely done :)
Nice work on the shop, and cute dog and kid
Turned out great. You may consider putting your air compressor out back also. My compressor drives me NUTS !!! I want to move mine when I get time .
last minutes are the reward parts of the video:)
Ihsan Colak thank you! Just rewatched the end because I had forgotten which clips I put in and my heart just melted again😀....thanks for watching

Is it me or does this family have someone who does something handy. An electrician, oh my. We are all nurses in our family. 6 nurses. Nothing else.
lol... we are blessed with a lot of knowledgeable family members in a variety of things... but nurses got medical covered :)
You're are doing such a great job keep it up good luck.
I prefer putting the ground pin up. Especially since you are using metal cover and if they happen to loosen and fall the could create an arc. There have been accidents where this did happen. Once a lady dropped a sheet pan at McDonald's and it fell against the wall. When she tried to catch it it slide down the wall and came in contact with a partially pulled out plug. Created and arc and burned her.
My only gripe is the outdoor light. Every other bit of your design is based on nice sharp angles. The round light just grates on my OCD senses. Otherwise, I'd take an identical shop, round light and all! Great job, fella!
That is awesome! Love your shop! Good job!
