Same. I’ve sold shoes, namely high dollar collectible Jordan/Nike, some of which are more than 20 years old. Just like with these iPods, having the box is EVERYTHING. I’ve had huge verbal altercations with cashiers after attempts at throwing shoe boxes away. That stuff is important to enthusiasts, so when I discovered this GSP fiasco, I made a promise to my buyers that they wouldn’t have to worry about it. I do ALOT of international sales simply to spread out the availability of pairs that saw no release in countries outside of the US so other enthusiasts from around the world get an equal shot to obtain something they never thought they could. I could just imagine how excited someone from the Philippines, India, Spin, etc. would be in anticipation for a $350 pair of limited edition Jordan’s they never thought they’d ever see to arrive, and after weeks of waiting on the shipment, open up the find the elaborately decorated box, possibly unique to that pair only, just to find it mangled and cut to bits. Chasing down a complete-in-box pair is hard enough, and every GSP shipped very possibly makes one less out there.
Well, you have thoroughly convinced me that the eBay international shipping program is not worth using. If I ever decide to sell something outside the country, I will deal with customs myself.
*Most* Ebay sellers are perfectly fine. I have yet to have any real issues with a single one. The worst thing that happened to me is somebody forget to ship a pair of socks for a couple weeks, so I had to wait longer for socks. He's not kidding when he says the GSP is trash, it truly is garbage. Most sellers are just normal people who want shit out of their house, then the majority of the rest is collectors. Scammers, at least ones that aren't blatantly obvious, are the minority by far.
I've been active buying and selling on ebay since 2006 or so (fun fact: I was 12 when I opened the account with a fake birthday, recently I had to call customer service and had to tell them that when CS asked for "my" birthday for verification) and I've had maybe 2 or 3 bad experiences in those almost 15 years.
Honestly, I was half-expecting them to just open the iPod box, empty out the contents, then throw it away, so the fact that they kept the sliced-up box is a bit of a miracle.
Ah yes, the eBay Shitting Program. I had a Sega 32X arrive last month and they’d taken it out of its box with the protective padding that was around it and lobbed it in a bag and left the shredded box at the bottom of the bag. Pitney Bowes are just absolute shite, I can’t believe eBay still haven’t done something about them. One of their drivers once kept marking my address as undeliverable just because he thought the road to my place was closed (even though there is another route).
I have experience working at a company where we deal with unboxing shipments of products, modifying them, and then shipping them out to our clients. You wouldn’t believe how careless some of my coworkers are when it comes to something as simple as opening a box and taping it closed after. I swear, some of them must take pride in how little attention to detail they display. Every day I am bewildered. So, as frustrating and unfair this is, I cannot say I am surprised as someone who works in the industry. Good luck to you in the future man
I've had vintage hifi gear totally destroyed by ebay's shipping. Actually, that might be a DB25 serial connection. It's impossible to tell them apart, unless you have the manual for the device or the device clearly indicates which it is. Given that the device came out in 1999, it could very well be a DB25 serial that would have shipped with a DB25 to DB9 cable.
@@shadowtheimpure I hear you, and I agree, but I feel there's a reasonable expectation that it's parallel A serial connection using DB25 basically only uses like half the pins. Given the comparatively small size of the device, it'd be kind of silly to use s DB25 connector if it wasn't necessary. And that would be right around the time they were coming up with faster parallel ports (EPP and such). But who knows, the DB25 might be wired in some proprietary serial configuration so that you can only use the supplied cable. It wouldn't be the first time I've run into shit like that.
@@shadowtheimpure It's parallel. You can tell by the "printer" icon beside the PC IN/OUT label. A serial port would have the OIOIO symbol, or something similar to that.

Some of this damage goes beyond rushed carelessness and borders on malicious, imagine how much more this would sting if eBay DIDN'T frequently side with customers. But hey, at least these aren't large items. FedEx is another mark of death when you're buying big stuff (I get a lot of CRT displays, for example, and all the ones delivered by FedEx end up fuckered).
you know how on box cutters you can like adjust the blade length? And you know how you usually just barely eject the blade out the housing to open a box? Well, I think that they want to get the job done quick and easy so they eject a lot of the blade out and go full force just to say "yea boss, got 'er done quick and easy"

this happened to me, I bought 2 CRTs(!) from the UK through the global shipping program, and asked the seller nicely to package them well... they arrived in totally smashed cardboard boxes with next to no padding (they were laying on a few styrofoam pieces), seller told me that that was definitely not the original packaging. curiously enough one of them actually still worked, the other one didn't though and was missing parts.
I've ordered a few things from US to UK via eBay GSP and obviously been lucky this never happened! I'm sure with your reach you could get fans in the respective countries to re-ship the item to you. I know I'd be happy to help out for eBay orders within the UK.
Loved this video so much I had to watch it again. Man, eBay anger me soo much with their lack of care. Love this channel so much. In the UK, we’re in desperate need of a decent Prime Minister. Would Dankpods like to fulfil the role?
I’m sorry about what happened. I’ve never had problems with items I bought on eBay from other countries, but what I can suggest is that you file a “return request,” just as you would in a non-GSP transaction. In most eligible cases, the buyer is fully covered by either the eBay Money Back Guarantee or the PayPal Purchase Protection program.
Idk what they do in Kentucky, but it's infuriating. Anytime I get something that's gone through there it always comes to me damaged or even missing. I received an empty package from Amazon!

I keep it at work and typically use it when the battery on my Bluetooth headphones goes and needs a recharge. Obvious, it is not supported by iTunes anymore, but not a problem as the 1000+ songs I loaded years ago are just fine. That iPod works just as well now as when it was new (except the battery of course)

Ebay can't even get a simple delivery of an old Mac Mini from the US to Canada. It was lost twice, went through customs twice and 2 months later showed up at my door looking like someone dumped trash on my doorstep. When I picked up what was left of the box the Mac mini fell out onto the floor.
Good move!
Screaming DUNGIS is now my all time favourite intro from you
and DAMMIT
This is why when I sell on ebay internationally I deal with shipping myself.
Bro you saved me, I was having this video play in the background while trying to buy a sealed iPod nano and then...I heard of the slash n' dash.
Only need to worry if it is overseas

eBay: oH wOw aRE ThOSe dRUgS iN ThErE!?
Ah, the good Ol "Slash N' Dash".
There's also the good ol' "seller sending you a broken item and pretending it was shipping" ordeal.
Good luck to you in the future man
Thanks for the giveaway pod! I really appreciate it!
Eyy thanks for hanging around!
Watching this is like being repeatedly kicked in the gut
But I still love it
In the gut, balls and repeatedly stabbed in the ass
I've had vintage hifi gear totally destroyed by ebay's shipping. Sellers also feel my pain when they send pics of how well packed it was when shipped out, and then arrived smashed in a small cardboard box after Ebay tried to save $2. Yet I can buy expensive laser show gear from China with free shipping and everyting is well packed and arrives in perfect condition.
I just wanna know how, you don’t even need a knife to open that little bag
8:57 I didn’t actually throw this out don’t panic
They should not be allowed to open your packages like that if they can’t take care of more stuff better than that
Kentuckian reporting in. I'm surprised at how many companies have major warehouse and shipping operations here: Amazon, Zappos, UPS, GameStop, and apparently now eBay. I'm so sorry for all the trouble they've given you, I feel bad just watching the atrocities.

I worked in shipping for a company that sells apparel for a summer job, and if I ever got caught doing stuff like that, I would be fired so freakin fast. I have no idea why eBay is like this
When he said "The ole slash n dash" it had me dying 😂😂😂
There's a distribution center for our postal service in the US, located in houston texas, that is renown for package theft, rough handling and misplacement. Even the employees there would look at all this and shake their heads in disappointment
3:48, that’s parallel, not serial! (sorry, nerd moment)
I had the same reaction, don’t worry :P

I live in Canada, Newfoundland and whenever I order something from Ebay, it always has to go through Kentucky. My father is someone who works with heavy equipment and such and likes to order a lot of things. I try to get Li Ion Batteries. Can't do that. I get fully packaged items. Only to have them package look like a dog bit into it and shook it about. It's just... terrible.
I've been wanting to buy some collector stuff or old stuff from my childhood, like gameboy and such. But I'm scared with how those people treat their packages to even order. Ahh...
I was born is conception bay but moved to ns
As someone who has been searching, trying to get himself a replacement iPod, and who is a collector, this infuriates and upsets me. My heart goes out to you DankPods!
Even AvE opens packages more carefully than this
Time!
Buy a box FULL of lithium batteries and send it through Pitney Bowes. I guarantee there will be NOTHING left.
Now thats a fun idea
I will litterally work at that plant just so i can handle the global shipping for your items
Fuck that. I love the UA-cam channel, and my passion is music so of course I want to support this guy. With that being said, there’s not a chance I’m gonna go work in that factory and be one of the poor 2% bastards working minimum wage, ESPECIALLY here in Kentucky. I don’t think anyone should do that
Just want to say a quick thanks. On one of your older videos, you left a link to an ebay seller and i ended up getting myself a 5.5 gen for a good price. Shipped from US to UK. luckily I didn't have any of this trouble. Came within a few weeks. Been loving it.
Elite Obsolete are great, hes a mod in the Discord too!
The only UA-camr whose notification bell I turned on😹
Omg I had literally the same experience yesterday when I was filming 😩 I’m gonna have to do a battery replacement now

Accurate.
my dude I just came back for a 2 week vacation and the first thing I wanted to watch were your new/old videos, keep the great work.
eBay global shipping is crap. I've worked at that exact one you're talking about.
you know how on box cutters you can like adjust the blade length? And you know how you usually just barely eject the blade out the housing to open a box?
Well, I think that they want to get the job done quick and easy so they eject a lot of the blade out and go full force just to say "yea boss, got 'er done quick and easy"
Yeah I spent 3 weeks working in a parcel sorting warehouse and all that "we treat your parcels with care" absolute bollocks! Got shown a health and safety vid then it was ok forget all that. we were emptying 9 double decker lorries on a quiet night and I worked black friday......14 in one night. Yeah parcels were treated with minimal care Word of advice never buy anything fragile online
"This smelly egg totally landed on my doorstep" genius.
I bought ipod nano 3th gen last friday cause your videos and its my favorite piece of technology.

this happened to me, I bought 2 CRTs(!) from the UK through the global shipping program, and asked the seller nicely to package them well... they arrived in totally smashed cardboard boxes with next to no padding (they were laying on a few styrofoam pieces), seller told me that that was definitely not the original packaging. curiously enough one of them actually still worked, the other one didn't though and was missing parts.
This angers me greatly, did you get any refund from those maniacs at ebay?
He did got it back every time, at least
@@zNoah Yeah, I was a little relieved when he said that.
It’s not even eBay, it’s the sellers that have to give the money back! eBay isn’t paying pack their part!
I've ordered a few things from US to UK via eBay GSP and obviously been lucky this never happened! I'm sure with your reach you could get fans in the respective countries to re-ship the item to you.
I know I'd be happy to help out for eBay orders within the UK.
How has this guy only got 80k subs he's great
I'm truly sorry for your loss Dank... Glad you got your iPod unboxing experience though
Loved this video so much I had to watch it again. Man, eBay anger me soo much with their lack of care.
Love this channel so much. In the UK, we’re in desperate need of a decent Prime Minister. Would Dankpods like to fulfil the role?
My wobbly dock fills with joy every time I see a new video posted by this legend!
Imagine ordering an original iPhone 2G sealed in the box and they open it. I would freak tf out. That’s a waste of like $10000
Having my maths exam tomorrow still can't miss your videos❤️
You know what I feel bad for? The iPad desk!!!
Poor thing.
The ipad desk can take it, thing is built fine
@@ShockingPikachu Well I hope so. We wouldn't want to lose it.
@@jdo248 knowing him, if the thing does break, he'll still use it
I’m sorry about what happened.
**slashes box open**
"eh theres no drugs in here"
**shoves back in box**
Idk what they do in Kentucky, but it's infuriating. Anytime I get something that's gone through there it always comes to me damaged or even missing. I received an empty package from Amazon!

Reedit: didn't realize that sitting made the heart go away :(
Fascinating... I have a 10yr old 120gb iPod that works just fine when I use it with a boost battery.
My deepest apologies to you...my state has failed you.
Hey mate, dunno if this helps but an alternative service to eBay global shipping is one that Australia Post offers for USA to AU shipping called ShopMate. If you haven’t looked into it, it may deliver a more careful shipping experience. Either way keep up the great work on the videos, informative and humorous.
Next time order a battery internationally and see if they do ye old Slash'n'Dash
it's not just electronics but vinyl records too. had a seller from uk ship to me a record.. ebay shipping program literally used the flimsiest cardboard packaging ever.. super thin.., so inevitably the corners were crushed
I hurt for you Mr.Pods. That was some horrifying tech sand. Still want to see you give zune a try
Mr. Pods???
I love how he haven’t changed his editing style after 10 months.
When you buy a sealed iPhone 2g and eBay opens it for you 😂

I mean, I've had US customs cut a line through a vinyl record, I feel ya.
Oh man, pretty sure that same model of iPod Photo was my first MP3 player, seeing that box bought back a wave of nostalgia.

This computer looked like someone had tossed the bare Mac Mini down several sets of concrete stairs before repackaging it after customs inspection.
Amazingly, after reconnecting a few internal cables it fired up and is usable.
Reminds me of the time i ebayed my son and the buyer told me that he came delivered emotionally damaged
Well he was sold "as is"
what the hell man, do you hate your child?
