Chris, as I’ve said before in the Discord Community, you’re a massive inspiration to me with regards to writing my reviews on WearTesters. You’re definitely an icon within the sneaker review space. Keep up the great work, Chris!
This is my favorite channel. I feel like I’m in the dopest classes ever. You and your wife educating me on the sneaker game brings back the greatest childhood moments and so much more. The humility and the realness that this channel provides is priceless. Continued success and greater blessings. Thank you both.
Without a doubt, Chris is definitely a cultural legend. My decision to buy is influenced to buy or not by you. Extremely professional, very dedicated to your work, you guys are the funniest sneaker channel hands down. Rants, questions are top tier. 🏆
As stiff as 97's are, I think the issue is that we forget it was designed for and still *is* a performance shoe. I remember them aching my feet and turned into pillows when I jogged 5 metres 😂
So cool having my question answered by the 🐐 ! Thank you for the response! Those early wear-tester days were incredible, and it’s been amazing to see the journey since then-it’s only gone up from there. Huge credit to you all! The channel's consistency and the in-depth knowledge you bring to every product, regardless of the brand, are what keep me coming back. For my final project, my team and I are working on developing a beach volleyball sock. I’d love to share the finished product with you once it’s complete!
As soon as you mentioned a phylon midsole on those things, I went, "Why couldn't the 97s had those instead of polyurethane?!" QotD answer: Chris, you have definitely helped increase my sneaker knowledge with your vids with Mrs. Wing, and I can't fully express my gratitude to you guys on even more stuff to look forward to! Love from a sneakerhead!
The humility with which you approach this is why you have influenced so many. I enjoy all the content. But mostly I enjoy just how real the two of you towards each other. And every now and then I get a nugget of new information. Keep up the great work!
This platform and your voices have been incredible to me these past few years. Not only it inspired me to get back into shoes, it also reignited my passion and reminded myself that there’s always room to grow in other aspects in life and this is one of them. Thank you so much for everything, I’ll continue to support this platform and since apparel all together. Much love and have a wonderful day :)
I started regularly watching this channel around the D-Rose 6 boost era and enjoyed learning the ins and outs of products regardless if I would buy them or not. There would also be little nerdy videos or aspects spread throughout before the second channel got started that I appreciated too. If there's one thing that this channel has taught me, it's that it's cool to be really knowledgeable and passionate about things you enjoy and that has helped me get into hobbies, my career as a game dev and my drive to learn. It is a characteristic I find interesting from person to person because what I'm passionate about can be totally different for someone else and it invites conversation and learning
I don't recall this product in the past, but this rendition is "dope" . What's interesting is the extended strip of air bubbles. And as blanket statement, you have been "catalyst" for the industry - explainimg physical science that goes into the construction end while keeping the language understandable for the "average Joe" All the best to you and your fam !
You are a humble and genuine person. At the end of the day they comes across in all the videos! Been watching for a couple years and I think I only own like 2 pairs of shoes ever to be on the channel haha But I love learning and seeing the product and listening to your banter haha
Totally remember these and so happy you are giving these some love! I had the original TL 2 and also these TL 2.5. I believe the update between the 2 and 2.5 was the midsole and outsole to add some stability while the upper stayed the same. Both were originally super comfy!
I've been following your channel since before the QOTD and I can't remember how it got started? I feel like it was Jodi's brainchild but whatever the inspiration, I really love it. Lets us get to know you guys better and sparks some really entertaining convos in the comment section 😂
I used to have a pair of TL1 Shox and frickin' loved em. They were so damn comfortable. They were the grey and navy pair. I thought that the bottoms full of Shox was an insane design.
For real bro you really have a impact in the sneakers community to me you the best doing this shit 💯 is a million youtubers out there they all full of shii they all trying to sale you something they just here for the money they are not real sneakerhead you brake down every sneakers you really tell us how good or how bad is the product thay are trying to sale us i really watch your videos before I get my sneakers and I'm sure I'm not the only one good work bro and thank you for everything.
I found out about this shoe on accident in 2017 at a thrift store… an Airmax enthusiast in the UK messaged me about my pair in 2019, and I eventually sold them to him for crazy money later that year. (Only saying this part because it shows how valuable they were to the community) I then sourced every pair I could and flipped most of them to UK and Australia Airmax fans over the course of that next year… the TL 2.5 has a big cult following within the Airmax community, and I credit it mostly to the UK. Without the UK fans, this shoe isn’t getting a retro.
I am in the same boat as that guy. I was in middle school and saw the hyperrev 2013 review on the finishline website. I am currently finishing an industrial design degree and will pursue sneaker design after. It all started here!
Wasn't the TL for total length air. Thought the middle air unit was the upgrade to the 2.5. Youve reviewed the airmax 1, airmax 2 atmose, now the 2.5. Guess next would be the like 2013 full length air units that are actually total length. Love the c9 tent. Long time viewer first time caller.
Chris, you're an inspiration to me who values education, infused with passion. Ironic that the Air Total Max Uptempo 2020 was the video that drew me to your channel and I totally hoped to see that pair mentioned as a reference here. This pair is dope, it reminds me a lot of AM 97 Total Orange pair I have 💯
Kinda funny that this was the QOTD, cause somebody had posted a picture a couple days ago thinking that the 5’s they had were reps cause they had a cardboard last, there were other commenters saying they were reps but because you had taught me that some Jordan’s used them because they didn’t have the carbon fiber plate yet, I was able to show them a vid of yours from 3 years ago lol my story isn’t as big as the person making a career out of you, but your impact at least has taught me things I didn’t know, thanks for that 😁
Chris, thank you so much for sharing your passion and knowledge for sneakers. You've helped me make better purchasing decision because of the information you share in each of your review s. You are appreciated! Blessing to you!
There are new and interesting home grown sneaker brands from my home country of India, especially shoes from gully labs and comet. Would appreciate a video on shoes from the aforementioned brands if possible. Love the work you do and as always, for the algorithm!
I've recently completely moved away from the ultra soft squishy insoles. Realized that those were what were hurting my feet and I'm not lying I wore air force 1s today and my feet don't hurt at all. So something like this looks awesome for me.
You both are the only two Americans I like. So humble and enjoyable to watch. Oh and I managed to grab these in the UK today on SNKRS. So glad these were an easy grab
Been watching you since you reviewed the Jordan 2009 I believe. Low quality video. Lmao I was a youngin, I’m 31 now and I just grabbed these for 90$ on sale. You my fav sneaker UA-camr nightwing
We are mostly still here because of Chris. This channel would have none of the authenticity or depth that a lot of us look for in a sneaker review. Chris seeks to be knowledgeable but isn’t afraid to also add emotion. As far as I’m concerned he’s the GOAT
QOTD: Chris, thank you. I don't remember these from 2006, but I was running pretty heavy back then and Nike wasn't my brand. In retrospect they look like an '06 reinterpretation of the Air Max 98 or the Air Max Deluxe from 1999. Honestly, I'd pick either of those (or the Air Tuned Max or Air Tailwind IV from the same era) ten times out of ten over this model. This one is solid but I feel like the best had already happened. I appreciate the video. Have a like and a comment in return. See you soon!
Been waiting for this shoe for years now, so glad that this & a few more colorways are dropping over the next 6-9 months. Definitely don't want the collab with Comme De garçon that recently dropped, just give me the good OG drops! Thanks for the review of this shoe! #AirMaxGuy
I remember those shoes but never had them either. If I recall correctly…I read some where when that whole era of shoes had those abbreviated logos, like Zm, Tn,etc…TL was total air/ total length, because the air unit covered the total length of the shoe….at least for that time period. As for the question of the day, Chris, you found a void and filled it. Then from there created a whole new lane that started branching off…kinda like alt timelines branching out from the sacred timeline. Seeing these new designers and sneaker people that are popping up thanks to your influence is mad cool! ❤🎉💯🔥🔥🫡🤓
I had these in white and silver. I remember walking around Disney World in these and a woman on a scooter ran over my foot and scuffed the hell out of them......talk about pissed!
I think ppl need to really promote that these midsoles are not PU stale like the 97,98s like you did Chris because we are in a golden age where ppl are wearing comfy 1906, 2002, vomero 5s, hokas, etc and people who experienced the brick feeling of those am's will think twice. Also I dunno if it's just mine but my am97 ultras from 5 years ago feels a lot stiffer to the point my arch hurts. I dunno if other ppls recent am97 midsoles harden as fast as mine did
Those were some bad boy classics I remember them - yeah the cool kids had them but not me 😅. Goated question of the day btw. And yes it’s good to have some sort of focal point in your 16:46 life to aspire you to better yourself than having no focal point at all👍🏿🖤
hey Topher, how do the textile overlays hold up? I had a pair of all leather upper 97s (white w black mid and out sole and black overlays) w the same pill shaped textile overlays and they ended up peelin off after 2 to 3 weeks of everyday wear. however, I had a pair of silver bullet 97s and they lasted years and still have yet to fall apart in any way. ofc the silver bullets aren’t all leather uppers.
Btw... One of the Air Max sneakers that needs to be retroed with full length Zoom Air is the Air Pippen 1. Nike can call it "Air Pippen 1 PE" I mean it literally was Scotty Pippen's PE back in the day
Pegasus Premium for 2025 will have a full visible air zoom unit (like on this Air Max) and a full Zoom X foam. Think it's the 'true next-gen' Air Max we're all waiting for.. but as an add the price will be sky high premium as well.
Since I've become somewhat of an OG CW snob I've been trying to find out if this is an actual og or not, but as Chris says there's not a lot of online info. I've only been able to find old references of the black/volt cw (which I don't like). Does someone in the comments own a 2006 pair and can confirm? Hopefully these are slept on and will go on sale because my country's currency and Nikes pricing is a poor match nowadays, and I need to spend my hard earned cash on those OG Spiridons coming soon.
Chris's answer is exactly why he has this following, always keeping it real and genuine! 👏
Chris, as I’ve said before in the Discord Community, you’re a massive inspiration to me with regards to writing my reviews on WearTesters. You’re definitely an icon within the sneaker review space. Keep up the great work, Chris!

"Before I forget, my name is Chris" was hilarious.
Chris you have inspired a lot of people through your work and experience, so we thank you
Without a doubt, Chris is definitely a cultural legend. My decision to buy is influenced to buy or not by you. Extremely professional, very dedicated to your work, you guys are the funniest sneaker channel hands down. Rants, questions are top tier. 🏆
17 minutes of genuine and great content

TL actually stands for "Total Length" hence why it is also used in a variation of the Nike Shox, in the Shox TL.
That makes more sense. Wherever we read it was for Total Air seems to be incorrect.
Good luck on the sports product degree Eddie. You've learned from the best, so it should be pretty easy. Another great review.
Totally remember these and so happy you are giving these some love! I had the original TL 2 and also these TL 2.5. I believe the update between the 2 and 2.5 was the midsole and outsole to add some stability while the upper stayed the same. Both were originally super comfy!
You’re awesome!!! You’ve helped me make purchase decisions for several years now. Keep up the excellent work!! Both of you
You guys are a legend and a staple in the basketball and sneaker communities. You are amazing and genuine. Never stop being you! ❤️
I've been following your channel since before the QOTD and I can't remember how it got started? I feel like it was Jodi's brainchild but whatever the inspiration, I really love it. Lets us get to know you guys better and sparks some really entertaining convos in the comment section 😂
Jodi started the question of the day on the Discord and it eventually moved to the videos
Watching your channel since the Kobe 8 review. Your videos educated me and helped me get a job with Nike back in 2015!
I used to have a pair of TL1 Shox and frickin' loved em. They were so damn comfortable. They were the grey and navy pair. I thought that the bottoms full of Shox was an insane design.
Speaking of semi-full length Shox, give us the VC 1-3s again!
These beauties are an absolute classic over here in Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦 we LOVE our retro bubbles! It's a way of life 😁
I found out about this shoe on accident in 2017 at a thrift store… an Airmax enthusiast in the UK messaged me about my pair in 2019, and I eventually sold them to him for crazy money later that year. (Only saying this part because it shows how valuable they were to the community)

Never heard of this silhouette before but after seeing the cdg collab I actually like em a lot
Honestly these are fine but I love that Nike is still deep diving into their vault and pulling things out!
I've never seen this shoe before, so thank you for the showcase! Such a cool-looking silhouette, and especially in that colorway.
One of the most comfortable Nikes I ever owned…had the black/gray pair when I used to work at Foot Locker back in the day
Chris, you're an inspiration to me who values education, infused with passion. Ironic that the Air Total Max Uptempo 2020 was the video that drew me to your channel and I totally hoped to see that pair mentioned as a reference here. This pair is dope, it reminds me a lot of AM 97 Total Orange pair I have 💯
That Motorola Razr was the status symbol of that era lol! iPhone what?
Had these in high school. One of my favorite sneakers then. Just purchased a pair
Love the channel, always keeping it real
Thank you.I'll always wait to see you rock the shoe first. Then I go out and buy them And I'm never disappointed.

Great video! As always. Those Brooks shoes would be a nice review to see. Have a blessed day!
Boy oh boy you don't know how happy NY is that these coming back!
Settle for a polo fleece and some air maxs
We call your impact…your Legacy ❤
I remember when they mixed the Air Jordan 12 with that Airbag setup. I had the black n aqua colored ones n they were dope to me
There were so many cool things we missed as kids....but the wonderful thing is we are never too old to discover them❤
I've recently completely moved away from the ultra soft squishy insoles. Realized that those were what were hurting my feet and I'm not lying I wore air force 1s today and my feet don't hurt at all. So something like this looks awesome for me.
You should send him some merch! I been watching your channel since it was titled Nightwing. Appreciate these and you
You both are the only two Americans I like. So humble and enjoyable to watch. Oh and I managed to grab these in the UK today on SNKRS. So glad these were an easy grab
💐 Give Chris his flowers.
Been watching you since you reviewed the Jordan 2009 I believe. Low quality video. Lmao I was a youngin, I’m 31 now and I just grabbed these for 90$ on sale. You my fav sneaker UA-camr nightwing
Awesome review as always
Got the blacks….now I’m coping these….IT WAS A STAPLE SHOE IN LONDON…I’ve always wanted them
Loved the video, you guys are the best.
Chris is the GOAT.
oooooo I LOVE these. as a duck fan, it's hard to ever choose orange, though :)
We are mostly still here because of Chris. This channel would have none of the authenticity or depth that a lot of us look for in a sneaker review. Chris seeks to be knowledgeable but isn’t afraid to also add emotion. As far as I’m concerned he’s the GOAT
Yup I remember these. I wasn't a huge fan but they're better than most new kicks at this point lol.
QOTD: Chris, thank you.
I don't remember these from 2006, but I was running pretty heavy back then and Nike wasn't my brand. I'm like meh on the shoes but a huge thank you to Chris for helping me make more informed choices when I purchase sneakers
I thought the TL stood for 'Total Lenght'...like in total lenght air unit. Great review as always ❤
Been waiting for this shoe for years now, so glad that this & a few more colorways are dropping over the next 6-9 months. Definitely don't want the collab with Comme De garçon that recently dropped, just give me the good OG drops! Thanks for the review of this shoe! #AirMaxGuy
The new hoodies are sick. Need the Jordan one
I had the all black version of these when I worked at FTL. Def had to switch out the insole.
I remember those shoes but never had them either. If I recall correctly…I read some where when that whole era of shoes had those abbreviated logos, like Zm, Tn,etc…TL was total air/ total length, because the air unit covered the total length of the shoe….at least for that time period. This channel has matured well
Listen to the Mrs. She said it so well! You give great insight!
Yes, you are inspirational!
Great review
I can not wait till NIKE BRINGS BACK THE AIR ZOOM SPIRIDON next year
I had these in white and silver. I remember walking around Disney World in these and a woman on a scooter ran over my foot and scuffed the hell out of them......talk about pissed!
Love these
I think ppl need to really promote that these midsoles are not PU stale like the 97,98s like you did Chris because we are in a golden age where ppl are wearing comfy 1906, 2002, vomero 5s, hokas, etc and people who experienced the brick feeling of those am's will think twice.

these are so clean 😍
I’ve still got a pair of the Black and gold from 2006
I wanna see a video on that Brooks ? Runner. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on those crazy midsoles.
Every time I see these I just think of the air max 97. I want these!
Yes I'm getting these kicks just waiting on a colorway I like but I'm happy they are back
I wish they would bring back the air max solas. Those were awesome
Chris has always given me heavy CM Punk type vibes (cm punk is definitely a top 5 all time wrestler)
The total air name is because of how breathable the upper is as well👌🏼
Wasn't sure i could do the bright orange, i am hoping they do more colorways soon
These shoes definitely give off strong Nike AM97 vibes, from the midsole to the wavy lines. And yes, 97's are bricks!
TL is the full air unit nike should release the original TL where the air bubble went underneath the shoe
The “retro” looks WAAAAY better then the collab.
I got/still have a pair of these! Mine are in white, yellow and hints of volt.
I completely forgot about these but now I set snkrs to notify me when they drop
A little prices but dope. The shape is on point
Pegasus Premium for 2025 will have a full visible air zoom unit (like on this Air Max) and a full Zoom X foam. Think it's the 'true next-gen' Air Max we're all waiting for.. but as an add the price will be sky high premium as well.
My cousin has a OG pair of these
These looks cleannn
this looks really good
Since I've become somewhat of an OG CW snob I've been trying to find out if this is an actual og or not, but as Chris says there's not a lot of online info.
Never had I giggled when someone say that had a baby haha
Waiting for these...
I had the black and red og
