Bob Hope
Bob Hope rose to the top of every medium he touched: headliner in Vaudeville, Broadway star, radio icon, movie idol and superstar on television. His persona reached audiences of every age in every decade of the 20 th century.
A popular star in Vaudeville, it was Broadway’s “Roberta” where Bob eventually caught the eyes of critics. In 1938, NBC signed him for a radio show that became a fixture in American homes. It wasn’t long before Paramount called on Bob. He went on to make 50+ feature films, including the hugely popular “Road Pictures” with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. In 1950, his TV career officially launched with “Star Spangled Revue.”
An accomplished man, Bob’s greatest legacy was his commitment to American service personnel. For nearly six decades, at war or at peace, “G.I. Bob” crossed the globe with 57 USO tours for troops in WW II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War. In the history of show business, no one traveled so far, so often, to entertain so many.

That Rambling uni on Doug Williams is amazing.
That's GRAMBLING. Not Rambling.
@CharlesWashington-s5m Yes, I know. Autocorrect won out there. Hopefully you'll be there next time I mess up.
Facts
I always liked Bob Hope doing the All America Team. Even with the corny jokes. I miss his specials.
Some of the players looked like they were dying of embarassment, LOL. The Rose Bowl parade float joke was so wrong...and yet absolutely hilarious!
Even as a kid, I thought his jokes were not only corny, but not funny.
He was one of my favorites!!
Bob's jokes were so corny, that they were hysterical!😂
I miss these shows. They were awesome.
Terry Miller and Earl Campbell both incredible backs!
I remember Earl at Tyler High school he was a total Beast! He was a very strong man playing football with Boys!
The Tyler Rose!
Damn,I could imagine because he made pros like the same.
Really enjoyed the nostalgia & the quips. Relish the old days.
I hate to say this but I wish football had this much passion nowadays
In 1978 Bob came to Clemson for a show. I was an usher and was in his dressing room. Interesting man to say the least.
These all-star introductions were so awesome. Could you imaging trying to get the 22 top college players all together for ANYTHING these days?
Never. They're entitled
Here we go again putting down today’s athletes🙄
Why can’t the close minded boomers/GenXers just enjoy the nostalgia instead of crying all the time🤷🏽♂️
When they come out on stage, they could go through the transfer portal first.
Yeah they'd probably want to be paid for their time and effort.
I grew up a Chargers fan and JJ was my favorite player!
Doug Williams, super underrated. All you ever hear is his Super Bowl performance, but he was so much more and was a damn good QB.
Sat next to Doug Williams on a flight from Florida to DC. Great guy
Doug Williams was the only one to represent an HBCU. I was blessed to shake his hand at The Commanders-Bengals game.
Doug is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play The Game,he deserves to be in the hall of fame.
Great uniform for gambling
@@CharlesWashington-s5m ah you mean the Washington Redskins
Doug Williams: 35 points in the 2nd Quarter. 42 - 10 over Denver in the Super Bowl. 35 in a quarter will never happen again.
@@scottfischer6029that's GRAMBLING. Not Gambling.
This was so good…..some legit real stars here, Campbell, Williams,…. Of course the jokes were supposed to be corny and eye rollers, the players were really into it too. Loved Dennis Faker’s reaction - not sure if it was rehearsed or not, but Bob Hope’s punter reaction seemed to say what the heck is going on here? Thanks for this upload. As a Canadian, I used to watch this on cable and always looked forward to it. Merry Christmas to everyone south of the border.
Back when college football was great!
The float joke was actually savage 😂😂😂
Brings back the good old days
The great Ozzie Newsome!
I ALWAYS looked forward to the Bob Hope Christmas Special, specifically because of the presentation of the Associated Press All-American Football Team. It was, and still is, the preeminent All-American team. I miss this televised presentation so much, and when I see the unveiling of each year's team online, I always think about Bob Hope and his quips, with each player singularly jogging out.
Nice to see John Jefferson! Had his Charger #83 Jersey back in High School
At 2:53, the great Cincinatti Bengal Ross Browner of the Browner family. His brothers Joey, Keith and Jim all played in the NFL along with his son Max Starks and nephew Keith Browner Jr.
C-I-N-C-I-N-N-A-T-I
1977 was a great class
Art Still
My Camden homie
Dennis Thurman, played for my team, Dallas Cowboys. Great player
Dennis was one of my favorite Cowboys player. He was a great leader.
Doug Williams, first Black QB to win a Super Bowl I think he still works with the Washington Redskins.
Dennis Thurman !!! The man
Doug was a massive qb
Imagine if they did something like this today
Ga, Dog I miss this!
Not gonna lie seeing the 2 white defensive backs had me rolling 😂
Those from this team that are in Canton, have Super Bowl rings and/or sadly Passed away:
Ozzie Newsome (1999, XXXV, XLVII as an executive)
Earl Campbell (1991)
Doug Williams (XXII MVP, in what one would argue was the greatest performance in Super Bowl history versus Denver in San Diego)
Ross Browner (1954-2022)
Dee Hardison (1956-2018)
Mike Woods (1954-2009)
Zac Henderson (1955-2020)
Loved this show as a child. Why did young men seem more like mature men back then? Upbringing
Values have changed. Not a wild hairstyle in sight.
Because we were.
Future KC Chiefs defensive end Art Still. One of the best defensive players to play for KC.
Watched Art during my youth play at Camden HS NJ. He was my local sports hero
Tyler Rose, Big Earl.
Passed away: Ross Browner, Covid, 2022, Dee Hardison, 2018, Mike Woods, shot quadriplegic, 2009, Zac Henderson, 2020
Ozzie the greatest GM ever. He drafted Hall of Famers Ray Lewis, Johnathan Ogden, Marshal Yanda, Ed Reed, Jamal Lewis, Joe flacco, and his last pick before Retiring might go down as his greatest QB Lamar Jackson.
John Jefferson almost fell on his back hip pads.
These guys looked 20 going on 45 sheesh! Why did guys look so much older than their age back then?
These guys are about 20 years old, and look 45.
It was like that in the 70s for some reason
Men had more testosterone back then.
Big ND fan…loved watching this live and ND beating Texas in the Cotton Bowl for the national title that year.
Looking like 35 yrs old was the new 20
You give a an in their prime with Doug Williams, Earl, Ozzie, JJ, and Terry Miller….ill beat whoever you put in front of me….
Bob Hope: MK Handler
Ross Browner pride of Warren Ohio
3:52 Brad looks like he's 33 years old.
Never understood these shows.... What does Bob Hope have to do with the NFL?
The O lineman looked small compared to today
Bob Hope is SO lame, but I loved this segment as a kid.
Bob Hope had a mountain house In Wichita Kansas caused The Eagles Nest.
hit more tight ends than a playtex girdllol
Any Ohio State players?
Chris Ward.
Did anyone ever think Bob Hope was funny?
He was extremely funny. It's called a dry sense of humor. Some people don't have the acuity to appreciate or understand it.
The F Lee Bailey joke did not age well
You would think with so many chances, one of these jokes would've been funny.
Beyond corny. God rest his soul
But yet we’ll have some close minded boomer/GenXer say “They don’t make comedians like they used to”🤦🏽
@@RamsLakersDodgers I'm a GenXer and this is off-the-charts unfunny.
I wonder how Don Rickles would have hosted this.
@@hawkeyeten2450It would definitely be a roast😂
Robinson and Still wearing those phony neck protectors!
Also, not a single 300 lb’er? How times have changed? No kicker or punter included! 😉
I always like Bob Hope, but he always had the cornish jokes.
George Cumby made it as a sophomore? He was just kind of a middling player for the Packers... Hope's "jokes" are awful
I think he was a 4-time All Big Eight and 3-time All-American. Still one of the greatest to ever play at Oklahoma
Bob Hope had all these Great FBA's on his show but Bob was a Flaming Racist!
Not even close to being true.
To be fair all those old white guys back then were racists🤷🏽♂️
Bob was good friends with Sammy Davis Jr he was no racist
@@TruthB7Told To be fair they all were🤷🏽♂️
