25 carries for 255 yards out of the wishbone against Paul Bear Bryant's Bama defense. INSANE. Man I miss Keith Jackson, truly the Voice of College Football.

for sure.. if he didnt have that hip injury, it would just be a matter of how many records he would of broken. he basically outplayed future hof with ease on the field. He’d probably be the goat rn. Arguably the best two sport athlete. never got a chance to see him at his full potential. running 4.13 40 at 220- 230lbs thats unimaginably impressive. the strength, conditioning and speed he was blessed with you cant compare that lol
Bo and Walker probably the best backs at the same time ever in the SEC. Watched those games and both were speed demons with incredible size and strength...Those were great days.

Ran into Bo at Auburn in early 2000s and i rounded the corner at j&m I believe and there he was and my 22 yr old self turned into a kid again. I went to get my dad so he could see him, Bo walked by and I said “you the man” and he said….”no you the man” it was like the Beatles and Elvis all at once to someone who’s spent his whole 43 years bleeding burnt orange and navy blue
I was 9 during this game. This was the first Iron Bowl after Bear Bryant died. The first half was sunny and breezy. The rain came in the second half. And Keith Jacksons first words of the start of the fourth quarter, was "we have a tornado warning". And Bo kept running. He could have run touchdowns in a hurricane on that day. Bama's defense got tired and got run over by #34.
I remember those days being a Alabama fan .You had a feeling that he was going to break a long run for a touch down. Best athlete of all times and my favorite athlete. Even when he was playing for my favorite NFL team the Raiders. I remember when he trucked Brian Bosworth priceless.
Thank you so so much for posting. This was such a great time in my life and a great time in college football. The game was more innocent and the players had so much fire and toughness. None more tougher than Vincent Bo Jackson. I saw him play in the 1985 iron bowl, in my opinion, he was the best of all time! What made him special. He was as good in the fourth quarter as he was in the first. great athlete.
I attended this game. What people don't remember is the dangerous weather. A TORNADO WARNING was issued for Jefferson County during the second half of the game -- and fans (including me) stayed in their seats!
Rare for a running back to have both the power to run over and lightning speed to outrun the fastest defensive players! Bo had both! Legitimate shot at the Best NFL Running Back ever even with the early career-ending injury!
Keith Jackson was the bomb 💣 Nobody will be like that again in college football 🏈 Bo was a whole different level.. Having been lucky enough to watch him as a Los Angeles Raider What an awesome experience.. Like Keith Jackson.. 💣
Arguably, however there was a man around the turn of the century (1900s) that was a pretty good athlete for his day . I believe his name was Jim Thorpe.
Don't like to brag about a lot of things, but man I do feel blessed that I got to see Bo Jackson play in the NFL and MLB in person. That run around the 4:32 mark is just insane how fast he is but it looks borderline effortless while the Bama secondary is going full tilt trying to catch him and isn't even close.
I had been a huge Tony Dorsett fan. When I first saw Bo, I saw the same running style as TD, but he was a bit faster (Tony was fast) and way bigger! It blew my mind.
I do remember Bo Jackson. He was hurt and couldn't play professional football anymore. He played I think for the Oakland raiders and I remember seeing him run next to the sideline and a defender tackled him. He got hurt pretty bad. Like I said, he couldn't play anymore. It was sad.
Kind of makes you wonder how good Texas was to hold them to 3 points I think it was? He was so good. Most explosive player I think I’ve ever seen in college was OJ but Bo would have to be in the conversation.
The way Bo switched the ball towards the opposite sideline is something back’s don’t do these days. It was a fundamental drill when I played PAL football back in the day.
Bo Jackson does what most running backs don’t do today. He runs forward with speed and quick cuts. Not a lot of messing around with juking and wasting time trying to make plays happen.
Legion Field, the wishbone and Alabama actually playing a good OOC schedule. Things that made college football what it is and things we will never see again.
I hated Bo in 1983 as I’m a life long Tide fan. But I came to like him later. He was a one in a million athlete. Probably 230 lbs and could outrun defensive backs. I saw him play baseball against University Of South Alabama(which I later graduated from)when I was probably a senior in high school. He looked different(bigger)in his baseball uniform than the other players. He hit a line drive to the shortstop which would’ve been a routine throw out to first. He almost beat that throw to first. He quieted the opposing crowd down after watching his astonishing speed running to first.
I was at that game, an Alabama student at the time. Jackson was incredible, right after his last TD a strong storm rolled in, tornado alarms blaring, it was raining sideways ( I was sitting under the upper deck and still got drenched). Jackson/ 8 carries, 256 yards. His speed, just wow.
Bo is the most unstoppable video game running back of all time. I rushed for 1,200 yards in one game with him playing Bill Walsh College Football '93 on Sega Genesis. He was also unstoppable in Tecmo Bowl (NES) playing for the Raiders.
A tad faster than Earl Campbell, but it is difficult to tell who was harder to bring down. Did not see his pro games, so have no basis for comparison there. Both were awesome to watch.
Earl Campbell's speed is not even comparable to Bo's. Most of Earl Campbell's "tough" runs he was using tear-a-way jerseys. He shouldn't even be in the top 30 running backs of all time.
@johnrains8409 Your opinion stating "A tad faster than Earl Campbell?" Is an ignorant one. They're not comparable for running backs, and that is NOT an opinion!
To set the record straight Alabama was NEVER the visiting team in Bham. I’m an old man born in the 50s and Bham has always been a Bama city no matter what anyone says. I lived there for over 40 years. Even if the tickets were split Bama fans would end up with at least 60% of the tickets. Auburn understood this and that’s why they fought so hard to get home games on campus. Even by the late 80s it was obvious Bham as a city was in decline and Legion field would never get the upgrades she needed to stay a gem in the south. By the 90s it was just unsafe to travel down there to see a game. Breaks my heart in the good ole days we would park at Birmingham Southern and tailgate then walk over to the game.
