When putting the timing belt on and the camshaft Quicksilver one can you not just turn it back on to the mark

If you are careful and only remove the timing belt, don’t disturb the heads at all. You can definitely put it back on with a mark.
But if you disassemble it past timing belt removal like taking off the heads to do gaskets. Then I would highly recommend re clocking the heads. It’s extremely simple procedure that guarantees proper timing. It may sound intimidating but it is completely not.

when you pulled the valve cover off to adjust the cam it looked like you did one final try on the cam sprocket and it looked like you got it to line up-why did you go on with messing with the cam-and did you make a video on what you did next? If the mark would have lined up for you the first time could you have started putting it back together-And do you think that's why you're doing this whole thinning job to start with? Is this what happens when it jumps time and that's why it was off just a little

Here are the factors I believe gave me issues.
So when I found the timing had jumped a tooth on the drivers side I could’ve reset it and put a new tensioner on and reassembled. I still would’ve had some issues because on top of the timing jumping the paper gasket in the upper intake manifold had blown out so I also had nasty vacuum leak. ‘But didn’t know at that moment’
I continued on going into the cams because I had wondered if the forward and rearward placement of the cams before tightening had anything to do with the mark not lining up properly. Since I had taken it all apart so many times it wasn’t worry to do it again.
After examining the cams I can tell you that if they were off a tooth it would be very noticeable and my marks were all proper when I first did it. Most likely a combination of rotating the lifters and minor changes were the cause of misalignment but they were properly installed.
After reassembling and starting the engine again is when I was able to diagnose the vacuum leak in the upper manifold. When I replaced that the engine worked beautifully and ran amazing.
So 1- timing jumped a tooth due to bad tensioner shortly after rebuild
2- new paper gasket in upper intake blew out same time as timing jumped
3- alignment marks being slightly off gave me worst case scenario in my brain and I wanted to be sure.

Do you still have a rodeo? I have somany questions for you and love the videos you have made so far? Can you do a trouble shooting video for a 1998 rodeo 3.2l that has a new battery that won’t crank and has no spark but has the dash board lights are working but nothing else does

    • @r1beef88
      @r1beef88  2 роки тому

Won’t crank over meaning nothing at all happens no click or dimming of lights just dead key OR turns over but won’t start and has no spark?

It was not clicking and the lights were on so replaced the 100amp main fuse and now it cranks but won’t start. Also thank you for replying

@@robertbeltraniv4568 I’m happy to try and help, that’s why I make videos.
So was running now won’t start no spark. My gut tells me to check you CRANK SENSOR. Happened to me before.
Use your obd 2 reader and go to live view. Scroll to where you can read RPM. When you turn the key it should instantly read an rpm of 300ish. If it doesn’t change from 0. You need a crank sensor. Very easy replacement, you only need one socket and it’s very accessible located on bottom of engine in the middle.
Start there. As it would cause no spark ⚡️ when cranking.
Thank you for liking my videos. Happy they help people’s own projects. 🤘🇨🇦
