This is the best interview of Steve Martin I’ve ever heard. I really miss Charlie Rose. I really dislike cancel culture, but if he did despicable things, then I guess he merited getting booted.
People need to consciously, pro-actively acknowledge that these gods of our time are still here. Steve is alive. And good lord imagine how much love is gonna come out of the woodwork when he passes. He’s here now people. (Referring to people who aren’t watching Steve Martin stuff and all things 70s80s90searly2000s ye ye represent.
Steve is so quick on his feet. Several of his comments in the interview were quite funny and yet appeared to have come to him spontaneously in the course of the interview (rather than being memorized lines he had used before), including: praising Jerry Seinfeld as the best reader of his book, and noting how he inherited his mother's singing ability and his father's piano playing ability.
Don't wait to believe in Lord Jesus, we don't know when God takes us away and the opportunity for grace can become lost forever! It is only through faith in Jesus Christ and repentance that we can enter those Pearly Gates. (John 14:6, Acts 4:12)
What an incredibly long, extensive, and successful career Steve Martin has had! And as you listen to this interview and hear how brilliant and thoughtful he is, you realize just why.

Steve has since this interview done a comedy road trip with Martin Short and the well written and performed Only Murders in the Building, when wondering here where his career may progress.
I went to Disneyland on the first day it opened, because my mother worked there. She was hired before opening day as a pastel portrait artist on Main Street. So, while my two younger brothers stayed at home with the babysitter in Santa Ana, I rode with my mom to work where I would take her employee badge, hang it around my neck and I had free run of the park. I thought it was funny that Steve Martin must have been not much older than me at the time, because he was hired to sell guide books. Later years, I was hired at the Disneyland Hotel as a waiter, and that was when I found out that Disneyland and Walt Disney himself did not hire people for a job, but rather cast people basically as actors to play whatever part that might be. One might wear Cinderella's costume, others would don The costumes of various Disney characters, such as Donald duck Mickey mouse etc. I impressed Walt Disney with my perfect imitation of Donald Duck, which I could still do. On my 8th birthday, Walt Disney himself gave me a personal tour of the park, showed me his private apartment above the firehouse, and let me " steer" the Mark Twain riverboat. There was a choreograph scene going on with Zorro being chased by Sergeant Garcia across the roof of the riverboat, which culminated in Zorro pushing him off into the "river".

I'm not really qualified to say, but I think Steve Martin is probably a true genius. In the traditional sense as well as comedically. ( and I can't even spell.)
R is a second-rate mind interviewing a genius and R can’t help falling in love with the sound of his voice uttering fatuous comments…Martin appears to be putting up with R’s cliché-ridden “reflections “ because he has to in order to promote and sell his (terrific) book on what it took for M to become the artist he is.
@@fractusshe’s horrible. He asks questions, then answers them, and talks too much. His controlling nature came back to haunt him when he would harass women.
Now that I listened to that part more closely, I’m starting to think his dad forced him to do it. He was basically exploited since he was so young. Maybe that’s why they had a falling out when he got older. That’s not affectionate, it’s just sad. Now if he were an adult who fully knew what he was doing, then it would be a different story.
Oh, come on. You're using deconstructionism to prove a point. And the human experience cannot be distilled in one act. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

47:16 is the part from So Good They Can't Ignore You, where Martin is asked about his advice to aspiring performers
I have immense respect for Steve Martin - he’s an engineer with a sales aptitude - I’ve only met one other person like that -

What a satisfying time watching this. I think I'll have some pudding. And maybe Steve could talk about surrealism.

Loved this guy ! Still do , he was great in the movie Bringing down the House
Yes, but that movie was awful.
Always... AGREED ✌️

Wow, "So good that they can't ignore you" brought me here
Same here.
He is a lovely man. This was intelligent and insightful.
National treasure ❤
"Doubt money burns the fingers of the righteous and he won't be burned".
A humble man.
Holy crap, thank you
He was born in Waco, TX
Who is publishing Norm MacDonald's memoirs?
"I'm glad there's no photos". This guy is next level funny on so many levels. Most of Martin's comedy transcends and ages well.
Steve has really nice hair ...bums, don't have a head of hair like Steve 🦱🦰🦲🦳
A very genuine guy interviewed by another genuine guy. JT
😮😊
i miss charlie rose interview style
I was going to say this. Faults or no, he was a great interviewer.
He’s crap. He asks questions then answers them like a psycho?
How did you get the copyright permission to post this?
He traded in his pudding collection.
TOO BAD Charlie couldn't keep his hands and.... to himself
I’ve boycotted his comedy ever since “ cat handcuffs “ I love animals
Congratulations, hero.
@@allendracabal0819 it’s a joke genius..
@@paulferranti8536 Good one.
Charlie does NOT know when to shut up!
Nah, he's one of the greats.

"I wore black face with white lips and sat on the side of the stage eating watermelon... it was quite affectionate." - Steve Martin. 🤔🤨🤦♂️
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised 😔

Which verse is it where your god drowned babies because he didn’t like the parents?
Those conditions sound remarkably like something a man would come up with when devising a religion. No genuine supreme being would be so petty.
