To be able to write a whole episode in the waiting area of a chinese restaurant and make it one funniest shows ever made is such brilliant observation. Charlie Rose has a knack of connecting with his interview subjects in an authentic way. He assumes depths of character so always is confident to dig deep. He is also a man of few cliches and retreading already covered grounds. His vision is expansive, good humoured and empathetic and this usually results in the interview subject being interested in him enough to answer his questions at Rose's desired level of enquiry. He is IMO far and away the most interesting interviewer to ever appear on US television. Who wouldn't enjoy answering such interesting and penetrating questions.

Even though I found him rather out of his element doing stand up given the pressures on that genre, he is definitely on top of the profession later, especially doing the Curb episodes. He is everyman dealing with everyman situations and reacting in kind, or rather the way we would all like to react the way he does.
