The WORST casino resort hotel in Las Vegas is also the cheapest. An updated look at The Rio.

- Here is an updated look at the worst casino resort hotel in Las Vegas, in my opinion, and even though you can theoretically find rooms here as low as $8 a night - it still isn’t worth it. Does anyone remember The Rio in its heyday? When the parade in the sky was the coolest thing in Las Vegas? The good news is, the feral cats are growing in numbers and we anticipate they will rise up and claim the property as their own in 2024. There will be people in the comments claiming it’s not so bad. Those people have Stockholm Syndrome and are possibly the people keeping Arby’s in business. Have you been? Would you go? Let me know and follow me for all the Vegas.

You had me at well-established colony of feral cats
They should advertise the cat colony! In my opinion, Starfish is absolutely an elitist.
The Rio was THE off strip property at one point. Back then, people would flock to Rio and Hard Rock over staying on the strip. Unfortunately, Harrahs/Caesars bought Rio and the decline began. It was never really the same after the sale and they stopped putting money into the property years ago. If you were lucky enough to stay there before the sale, you know how great it was.
I doubt they've yet to fix the handicap door control access at the SW tunnel entry. Amazing, they've not been easily sued for failing that ADA requirement.
nah they didnt give them a free meal for being a ''influencer''. its on the news
@Depni1423 who are you responding to? The OP, sccphysicprof1591, didn't discuss food let alone being comped.
I’m glad I had a chance to go in it’s heyday when it was an “A” List property.
Just stayed there last week for one night. Added a night to my work stay at another hotel. And chose it for the cheap room. All this is legit. The rooms are old and furniture is worn, carpet is stained.
Only good thing about it was winning some money on slots that covered the cost of the room. Didn’t eat a meal here, no good food options.
Served it’s purpose but went sight unseen and will not stay here again when booking a room. The room rate is what hooked me in. Was disappointed, the Rio has a great reputation years ago. And casino wasn’t packed but still doing steady business.
Oh, I remember the parade in the sky. I remember the night club with the circle arena. I remember Miss Rio annual pageants at the pool. I remember the bevertainers getting up on the mini stages every few minutes to do a dance. I remember tons of people at the poker tables I remember before the Chinese restaurant was a bowling alley, and before that was another night club, and I remember when they had the seafood buffet and the carnival buffet on opposite ends of the property which soon after the demise of the property had begun.
nah they didnt give them a free meal for being a ''influencer''. its on the news
The Rio was the first place I ever stayed at in Vegas, I want to say in 99. It was gorgeous back then. It's a shame what's become of it.
Jen is gloves off, and the Rio is in need of much love! I hear that they are going to rehabilitate the facility into something fancy in the near future. Big bucks involved too...
nah they didnt give them a free meal for being a ''influencer''. its on the news
The cats seem like the only thing it has going for it. I hope someone is taking care of them. You gotta keep those guys spayed and neutered.
Bob Barker would be proud
Feral cats should be the draw?
Actually now that I think about it if the cats were spayed, neutered, cared for and allowed to roam freely, cat lovers may enjoy that. Think coy fish at resorts in Hawaii.... or maybe it's the chardonnay in the heat messing with me 😂🤣😅
Anyone curious why she didn’t get one clip or photo of the cats to include? Instead she filmed the backside of a bar? Very odd when there should be some video evidence…
is there any explanation as to WHY this happened to the Rio? How does such a once popular hotel drop off so hard?
Complete, utter mismanagement and neglect by Harrahs (which later became Caesars Entertainment) under its long painful ownership.
At the time Harrahs originally bought the Rio, it was its first Vegas mega-resort in its portfolio, and also didn't have any Strip investments at the time. But once they purchased Caesar's Entertainment in 2005 (and later re-named themselves Caesars Entertainment............it's confusing, I know): which did have Strip resorts in its portfolio...............the company ultimately re-directed all of its cash flow towards its Strip properties and, thus, essentially left Rio for dead ever since.
In other words: Rio got caught up in an abusive relationship with Caesars

I would go. I had seen the 10-15 a night midweek, but never knew about 8 dollars a night rates. Plus, likely very low resort fees & free parking. Even if you use it exclusively just to sleep because of the ridiculously high rates at a lot of the strip casino clip joints (plus oppressive resort fees & paid parking). Just use it as the jumping off point to better resorts/restaurants events at other casinos. Plus the Rio somehow still has Penn & Teller.
That place just looks like you’re guaranteed to get bed bugs 😷🤮
@melaninmonroeeee - That is like almost every place in Vegas! With the thousands of hotel rooms and millions of people come in and out every year, how can u battle bed bugs in every hotel and room! IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!
@@leemehanI don't know what they do to prevent or treat any bed bug infestation but diatomaceous earth is passively effective below and behind the headboard.
nah they didnt give them a free meal for being a ''influencer''. its on the news
@@Brazen1234 wtf are you talking about food?
I booked online, stayed there during pandemic, they had excuses ‘Covid’… stayed 2 years later, even worse, worst ever hotel experience I ever had in Vegas, I use to live out there, staycation every week, all over the city… but if you choose ‘Rio’ you’ll do better sleeping outside, it’s much cleaner…
It's only because of utter mismanagement and neglect by Harrah's (now Caesars Entertainment) that this place has fallen off precipitously and tragically. And it incenses me in all honesty because at the time it was purchased by Harrahs, Rio was about at its peak and genuinely was a trendsetter in Vegas from being the very first Vegas resort to have floor-to-ceiling windows, to have its own nightclub, to introducing a central buffet island concept, etc.
The silver lining here is that, while it's unlikely to rebound to the heights it was at in the 90s................Dreamscape is investing considerably into the Rio and its outlook is definitely much rosier from here. Especially with rio's original visionary Marnell behind part of the renovation effort, it will be in much better hands moving forward and in three years time I definitely am looking forward to seeing the completed renovated resort again.
When I lived in Vegas , the Rio was an awesome place, they had the world buffet, you could get any kind of food you wanted. The club was great. I think it was bought to stop competition and as a tax write-off.
I remember in 2006 when Prince had 3121 club there his shows were thing that dreams made of
Talking truth here. Prince residency was A Thing.
Stayed there in the beginning of the year and I didn't even want to leave my room as I was gangstalked by security and who knows who else every time I did.
My husband LITERALLY accidentally booked the Rio for our Las Vegas trip in June🤦🏻♀️😆😫 I think he may have been drinking when he booked it. We won't be staying there again
LITERALLY 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Maybe they need new owners with fresh new ideas!!! Upgrades could cost a fortune but it’s worth it for Vegas!
When they had the WSOP here it was lacking security and the property was very dark . I end up walking down some dark lonely path and still didn't find the poker room. I went to the Aria instead won 3200$ and drove home .
Pros: cool outdoor shower Cons: everything else
😂😂yeah that sums it up
Wow, I didn't think it was that bad, the rooms are so bad, people actually choose to sleep on the floor in some big space downstairs? (that's insane, that can't be right?)
That outdoor shower is awesome .... 😂
I lived there in the late nineties. I still think about the seafood buffet, will never be another like it…
What made it so great? Seafood tower? Selection?
Seafood and buffet are two words that should never go together
i love ur
angles and videos feels like i'm there
Except where are the feral cats? lol imaginery, I guess?
I understand the Rio has been purchased by new investors? Hoping this will rebuild the property. I definitely loved it and it used to be super cool.
It has been, but she knows nothing about that. She just has to push some content out regardless of lack of research.
Not sure which one is worse ..Rio or Circus 🤡 Circus 🤡. Both are completely disgusting and in need of a major overhaul or demolition crew. Couldn’t pay me to stay there 😎😎😎
Please keep doing reviews of CET properties. I get tons of free trips but I’d like to try/stay somewhere other than Ceasars every time. 😊
We went there to play the kiss putt putt and I was very uncomfortable the entire time. It felt genuinely creepy and sad in there
It's such a shame cuz I can remember in its heyday it was a great place to hang out they had Rio Rita coming around to visit all the slot players they had that thing in the sky that want around throwing beads to people they need to do something about that place
Is kiss mini golf still there?
Yes
This needs to be deleted due to being completely outdated as of June 2024…Although it still has a ways to go, Rio has been nicely renovated over the last 6-9 months, with a very bright future being very obvious. So my locals’ take as of now: go, take advantage that it’s got some nice stuff that’s a very good deal because they’re trying to attract customers back, and do so soon before it’s all redone and expensive all over again!!!
No 8.00 room more like starts at 32.00 on an 'off night". Only ONE working check in desk person.
Rooms have no clean bedding in many cases. Room service and maintenance are a no show. Complaints to a 'manager" will go ignored. Food options very limited. Bad smells in hallways. Ice machine on your floor may or may not work. Water pressure varies as does working air conditioning. ENJOY. Reason-Caesars just doesn;t care about customers at this price level.
It's a shame. I remember staying here yards ago and it seemed so lively.
Yes, I remember always staying at the Rio for my comped rooms for Harrahs from 2000-2012 or so. It was super lively and crowded back then.
I went there yesterday to watch the WoW vegas spectacular show, and I could tell it wasn't as high end as some of the other strip hotels I've walked through. The show, although half empty was not bad actually.
Wow, how the Rio has fallen. They used to have a lunch buffet for $4.25 in the early 2000's.
Sad it’s gone so far downhill. We had two great trips there several years ago and it was absolutely beautiful.
Aww thats sad I really hope they bring it back . I toke my son hear befor he died it was fun and the zipline was open... it was some years ago ...wow
I stayed at the Rio just a few months ago and it wasn’t that bad lol
It’s crazy cuz she’s right, the Rio used to be poppin back in the early 2000s.
Lady let me correct you, they are renovating. All american is one of the best. You....
Right NEXT to the Rio is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, period: The Gold Coast Hotel.
Wow, back in 2004-2005 this place was awesome. They used to have a college night at the night club and the place was packed. I need to go back and see this shithole
Last time i stayed there was at the last WSOP held there. November 2021. Enough just to sleep there. Rough times ahead for this property.
Dreamscape bought the Rio and have already started remodeling for the new Fontainebleau Resort.
This is going to be a really nice place when completed. give it a year...
i thought it was actually closed down. Didn't realize people can still book a stay there.
They are about to getting a major renovation. Hopefully it will be back to it's old festiveness.
SwapMeet vibes, best line yet. *****
It's a Catsino!!! Yay!!!!
😅 catsino!! 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️
Where is video evidence of a feral cat colony?
This lady is just completely wrong. Stayed at Rio for work. June 2023. Was nice, rooms were clean.
Boy, Rio used to be great, including that Parade in the Sky (or whatever).
This is so sad~ this hotel was the Jewel of the city in the late 90s~ Caesar's entertainment destroyed it as they do everything elso. Now it's Hyatt's problem
I gambled there a couple months ago. It was pretty run down.
Been there .. I 💕 prade in the sky.....2007... Last time I was there... Sad its come to this.
I agree with all of this, too bad because it has one of the best strip views in town.
I think the outlets in Primm are in better condition.
It's undergoing a million dollar renovation.
She’s clueless about that…
0:08 I think you meant to say its giving zombie apocalypse vibes
That’s more nasty then circus circus
The worst motel I ever stayed in was days inn made the mistake of booking online 😂 was a hoe stroll
I remember when this hotel first opened
I love the rio! But I just sleep there
This is so sad I used to work there while I was finishing college and it was the hottest spot in town 😢
Why did the Star Trek convention, upcoming in August, associate itself with this awful place??
No lady nobody else remembers. The rest of us seem to have a lives and no time to run around Vegas making videos.
Here is a video about how bad this place is! Mentions a colony of feral cats. Any video of feral cats? Nope. Hmm…odd…
I don't know. 2 other properties come to mind off the bat as sketch too and wouldn't see me there. Your Rio view comes off as worse than I remember but it's been awhile.
Lol the pool deck is nasty …
Wow so sad to see! I remember going often when iI lived there.
It's 2023.. on a budget... I'm staying there lol
In my opinion, she’s an elitist. She mentioned those “feral cats” like they are roaches. The Rio should promote those cats, if in fact they exist, and I am not convinced of that. Did I miss video evidence? On a video blog? Hmm, I have done dumber things…
That's too bad it looks like it still has a lot to offer
Just being kept open for some future buyer who will tear that crap down 😂
Cats u say? Im in. 🐈
She says cats, but the video has no cats. Isn’t that odd?
MJ Live used to be here 2012-2015
Hell no i wouldn’t stay here. Someone needs to buy this property & either restore its glory or change it to something else. This video is sad!
With your review I would not go.
Is this property a candidate of a new sports team or something? Sheesh!
i had fun when I went
OYO is worse than rio
the buffet was soo good 😭
excalibur is the worst!
Praise the LORD for creating mountains!
This needs a new update….
no not penn and teller!
It's time for them to move on to another Casino. The Venetian would be great since they don't have any regular shows and two theaters ready to go.
hold up y’all tripping the rio is the best all the parties are thrown there the cops ain’t ever get called
Neuter those 🐈😂
The Rio is price gouging for the Star Trek convention there next month.
The worst is the cheapest? Weird.
