My mom used to make something similar. Split the hot dogs open like you did. On a baking sheet, put a slice of cheese on a hot dog and a couple of spoons of mashed potatoes on top of each one and baked till bubbly. (No Saurakrat) she called them "Doggie Puffs". Yours looks yummy too. I'll definitely give it a try.
This is my kind of a meal.❤These are the kinds of meal that our moms put together when it was all that they had in the fridge. I call it creative cooking. I'm excited to try this recipe!! All I need is the sauerkraut and it will be in my oven tomorrow!!! Love the recipe.🤗
My mom would use polish sausage, which are delicious and big! Served with yeast rolls. Never knew the name but we always had a full stomach, frig and table! Your dish looks good! 😋
Looks similar to Czech Lepenice (I haven't tried it, I googled it because it seems like there's a story behind the combo of ingredients). I'll have to make your mom's version! I love mashed potatoes and used to add a lot of dairy until I tried a can of coconut milk. I'm lactose intolerant but my mom's mashed potatoes are worth the lactose tax lol. I've been really happy with the results.
I'm going to have to look that up. Thanks for that info! I knew there was a name for it... I just didn't know it 😁. It's really delicious though. And inexpensive to make.
This is my first time seeing this, so it is a new recipe for me. I researched. I see some similar dishes with the potatoes on top of the hotdogs, and they are called "Hotdog Boats", or "Spud Pups" 😁 Looks delicious!
❤❤❤❤thanks ! So funny I have Sauerkraut in my fridge & (2) polish sausage & Colby cheese 🧀idk idk 🤷🏽♀️ gonna make it your way & this way , Chicago ….. I like leaving hot dog whole for serving : nobody gets more hot dogs 😆
My family never made this nobody who I grew up with made this never herd/seen before and I’m whole Chef with a degree and was cooking before I went to school and graduated years ago but it’s a lot of food/dishes I haven’t been introduced to 🤷🏽♀️
Yeah I see a lot of dishes I've never had myself on here... but I like to try new things. If you're a fan of the ingredients... try it! If not... don't! Thanks for Watching!!! 🤗
