I'd say there was a HUGE difference in the Norwegian spoken in just this video. Some almost sounded like Danish people trying to speak Norwegian, whereas others sounded more like Swedes trying to speak Norwegian. The former being much easier to understand for a Dane of course. Southern Norway and Denmark seem to be closer and Norwegians feel more connected to Sweden the further North you get. All the way at the top I would guess they think of Finns as their best buddies. Norway is a LONG fucking country. lol

Dane here✋ I work with Norwegians and speak with them daily. For me it is key importance that we speak our own language and do not swicht in to english. If you just open your ears and your mindset it is not that hard. We spell almost the same way - we just pronunce the word differently (bokmål og dansk). I know for the vast majority of Danes that we adore and love our brother country to the north. You do not find a people more common to Danes than Norwegian. That is my experience. And dont get me started on Sweden...😉

My family immigrated to America from Norway generations ago to escape blights and famine in the mid 1800s. For generations since, we’re still told stories about how Danes were apparently just the coolest people on Earth and how Norway wasn’t that bad under Danish rule. Imagine a group of people so cool that descendants of those they ruled are still told tales of how cool said people are.
...on a side note, the stories we’re still told of the Swedes are less flattering.

It's because most people being interviewed have a very distinct Norwegian accent (Trondersk or others) which is pretty different from the "standard" Oslo accent, for example Æ instead of Jeg (pronoun I in English), ikkje instead of ikke, and so on. So the subtitle at the top is the verbatim transcription of what the interviewee is saying, and the one below is the transcription in standard Bokmål. Hope this helped!

Danes are more free and are able to enjoy and joke about all things in life..but maybe they see us as a drunk brother/sister to a party. But still they are brothers and sisters like Sweden. Danes call Norwegians "mountain apes". That sums it up. The late Norwegian ambassador to Denmark, Thorvald Stoltenberg, used to say that "Norwegians loves Danes but tolerate the landscape and nature. Født i København, men boet i Norge 2 år. Det tar ca. 2 uger for en nordmand at forstå dansk men den første dag kæmper de imod. Der er undtagelser som f. eks nordnorsk er som at snakke med en tysker. Den største forskel er måden man fester/drikker er forskudt, så i norge starter og slutter man tidligt. Mine erfaringer i Dk var man starter "sent", men kan let være ude til 05.00 på morgenen.
