@@rinmartell2678 If you are a Norwegian citizen you can apply for a scholarship (This is pretty much guaranteed) and if you pass all the classes the government will pay 40% of the "loan" for you. if you fail you obviously have to pay back 100%

When I grew up in the 80s in Norway I still heard a lot of negative stuff about Germans. The legacy of WWII took a long time to heal. But I have been very positively impressed with Germans that I have met myself. Very polite, proper, decent and helpful people. I think a lot of us Norwegians get very surprised when being around Germans for a while just how similar they are to us. I think the legacy of WWII made a lot of us think Germany was like this totally different planet and we aligned ourselves more strongly with the British and Americans. But the truth is that Americans and Brits are much more different from us in mentality and how society works than Germany. I think the key differences between Norwegians and Germans are: - Germans care a lot more about hierarchy and titles. Norwegians have almost a disdain for hierarchy and titles and prefer flat power structures. Norwegians think people should be addressed the same way by first name whomever they are. Learning German in school I notice how different it is having to deal with grammar related to politeness and formalism. - Germans are more structured and hard working. Norwegians are more chill, and I think tend to wing it more. Making detailed plans. Writing down what you are going to do in an agenda, is more of a German thing I think. - I notice e.g. German super market are a lot more efficient than Norwegian ones. But they are also kind of rigid. Norwegians I think are a bit more pragmatic and will simply ignore rules they think are in the way for a smooth operation. E.g. in Germany I experienced a whole line held up while I had to dig up a 5 euro cent for an extra plastic bag. That would never happen in Norway. The cashier would deem the cent not worth holding up the line for. - Germans are well organized. When playing computer games I like being on teams with Germans. They have a structured plan and ideas about what everybody should do to win. And while there is this stereotype about Nazis, Germans are very friendly in this kind of cooperation. I find that e.g. Americans and Brits are more likely to get pissed off about losing and passing around blame, rather than come up with a constructive plan. - Germans are strangely both more liberal and more conservative than Norwegians. Like in Germany you could have a beer at 16, and things like prostitution and drugs seem much more liberal. OTOH Norwegians are more keen to use new technology, having women in higher positions etc.
Thanks for your nice comment. The only point i would add something on, is that drugs especially weed is in some federal state an absolut taboo like in bavaria. The Police there is really hard when it comes to weed or other drugs. It is better to drive a car after 2-3 "Maß" than rather smoke a Joint in Bavaria, the fine you will get is much lower. In Berlin or Cologne it is a whole different story when it comes to sanctions on weed consume. But i think my comment is a german thing too. You did a nice job, but a german will find a thing to criticize. This is what the German society is about 🤣
@@Dutbrothers Interesting, but it makes sense. Everything I have heard about Bavaria suggests it is quite conservative. I have really only spent time in Cologne and Berlin so I guess I have mainly been in the liberal parts.
As an American with family roots all over northwest Europe, I appreciate this kind of comprehensive discussion about Germany from a Norwegian point of view. Many years have passed since my Norwegian ancestors emigrated from Europe to Minnesota and I have no more direct contact with Norway, but my German ancestors of more recent vintage never lost touch with us except during the war years, and I visit them and they visit me often. Your views of Germans are quite measured and fair, as are mine. On the other hand, we must never forget history, especially as it may even now impact our lives as in the close call we Americans just had within what was until now considered a progressive society that emphasized, as you put it, "passing around blame." That is one of the weaknesses of the American experiment with constructing a truly multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-racial new nation. It is often through conflict rather than consilience that long-lasting institutions find, ultimately, common ground. Ole Rølvåg was someone who, although overtly a pessimist, wrote about that process.
I am German. The thing with the camper trailers is simple. As soon as summer comes, Germany is invaded by dutch people with there camper trailers. So the German camper trailers are expunged out of there own country and flee to the far north. ;-) I've been to Norway in 1989 at age 16 and I loved it. I was surprised and humbled by how many Norwegians spoke German. I plan to return once we got over the plague...

In Denmark we have SOOOO many germans in the summer!!! There was 17 million germans on summer vacation here in 2019. Denmarks population is 5,8 million.

I have to compliment the Norwegians in the video for being honest and straight to the point, a quality that many Germans highly value in people. If they don't know something they simply admit to it and say that they can't comment on it instead of making something up. It shows how reflected and honest they are in answering the questions and made me really enjoy watching this video.

As a German living in norway, i was always amazed about the welcoming and open culture. There were some of the usual 'nazi' germany comments from some elders and some jokes about our working mentality 😂 But i think german and norsk people share a lot of the same values in life

I am Norwegian myself, and I have NO reason to dislike Germans in general, how can anyone dislike an entire country? Like everywhere else on the planet, it is about finding the right person, someone that you have something in common with..then there might be a basis for a friendship. I personally have no German friends as of today, I used to have a friend from Cologne, she stayed in our "W.G" for a few months, and since I also speak German ,we would very often watch the news together in the evening, have a coffee and a chat in a local cafè etc. Ich war schon 5-6 Mal in Deutschland; Berlin, Erfurt, München, Köln.. und ich fahre gerne zurück. @@user-th9ek3jl7b Exactly. Maybe people from Germany AND the Nordic countries-and, from what I`ve heard, also the Netherlands-share a few common traits. We are, supposedly, more reserved than the "lively Latinos". There are stereotypes everywhere, and sometimes they do of course apply.. but there are soo many exceptions to the rule and also: today Norwegians travel a LOT more than 30-40 years ago, meaning that we get a lot of impulses from other countries and cultures. Also: it depends on what person that you meet, and WHEN.
@@bjrnjensen7074 Maybe I can add my first impressions on norwegians. I will move to Trondheim in a few weeks and while looking for an apartment I wrote with a few guys in Trondheim. Everybody was very open, helpful and nice. Yesterday when I talked with a friend, I said: "I heard Norwegians are cold and reserved. Where is all of that? They are so incredibly nice." Maybe this will change once I see them in person in Trondheim but up till now I have only friendly and warm experiences.

You may come across a few idiots when in Trondheim, but that could happen in Oslo, Paris, London or Antarctica for that matter. I was discussing differences and similarities with a German girl once, she said "Every country has its 5 % idiots". SO true. I am sure you will meet some nice people in Trondheim- Norway in general has a very low crime rate.
I'm German, I love Norway and Norwegians. I travelled to Norway with my father a few times, Norway has some of the most beautiful nature and landscapes I have ever seen. And the stereotypes about camper vans are actually true, we actually went to Norway with a camper van. See it as a compliment, many Germans love the Norwegian nature and landscapes and want to experience them in a direct, flexible way.

@@lauralugt2816 Actually, Swedish is the most like German out of the three languages (Norwegian, Danish and Swedish), it has ä and ö like from German and Turkish, and of course Finnish and Estonian. Umlauts they're called, I think. Kven, Lapp and Meänkeli are spoken by very few people in Norway and Sweden, same with Ny Norsk, only about 20% of Norway uses Ny Norsk, most use Norsk Bokmål (which literally translated means book language, kind of, edit- Ny Norsk means New Norwegian, it was introduced in the mid 1800's to seperate Norwegian from Danish, more or less the reason for it, I can barely understand it) I know this stuff from Norwegian and Swedish people I talk with on UA-cam, in Swedish, I also talk to danes cuz I can understand Danish.
I had no idea that norwegian is so similar to german. I can recognize quite some many words, at least in writing. Seems like a lot of fun to learn that language!

Even a video which shows that if one focus on building common root sentences that all the Germanic languages are mutual intelligible. one video is named 'Dutch & German dialogue that sounds like English' (but it also has the other Germanic languages like Norwegian, Danish, Swedish etc. in it)

I got a dirt cheap plane ticket to Berlin, which was intentional, because I wanted to make a short stop /"Zwischenstop" somewhere between Berlin and Munich, to see something else besides the major cities. To anyone planning on a trip to Germany - the smaller towns are often the most beautiful to visit like Landshut or Nördlingen :) They weren't bombed in the war, so the old-towns and castles, etc. are still intact :)

I'm German, in my mid 40's and I never ever have heard someone say anything bad about Norwegians/Norway. Never EVER! I know some people who've been there and they were all delighted. It's definitely on my bucket list to go visit one day.
When I was six I went to Norway (Lofoten) for the first time, now I"m 43 and I fall in love. Since then I've been there many times and I'm looking forward to going back to this great country soon. Greetings from Germany.

@@peggyeaston1575 - Exactly. My father was very reluctant to talk about what he went through. My grandmother would tell me a little, but suffice to say that the occupation was anything but 'friendly'.
My family owns a cabin on the west coast. I wanted to rent it out to german fishing tourists, but my grandfather said no. He was 15 back then when Kristiansund was firebombed. But that was his generation. It's forgiven and almost forgotten now.
I'm German and have been to Norway twice. I also had the impression the cultures and the people are quite similar. Felt almost immediately at home, no feeling of culture shock whatsoever. A difference is perhaps that Norwegians seem a bit more relaxed and easy-going. And that everyone speaks English incredibly well. And of course the nature is vastly different (Norwegian nature is more beautiful, more pristine).
I've been to Norway many times and IMO it is a real paradise on earth. The people are friendly and pragmatic, it's a high-tech country which still values it's culture and its roots and is, in many respects, far ahead of Germany. Love Norway!

@@rdmname same as German, Norwegian Danish, Swedish and Luxembourg from the Proto Germanic language. Its routes are in the frisic dialect same as the dialect Germans have spoken (only few still do) in the German regions north of the Netherlands. As Kid I still had to learn ("Plattdeutsch") the dialect spoken in Hamburg and was able to understand some Dutch. Dutch and German (talking about high German here) seperated back in the 14th century when the Dutch did not adapt the second change of consonants. The Scandinavian dialects and the Germanic dialect separated much earlier into own languages. Old English is also a language that came from the frisic dialect of the Anglo-Saxonies with more latin influence coming from the Normans later. German today has as much in comon with the dialects back in the 13. century as Dutch. So Dutch is not a originating from German both are originating from the same rootes

Us Germans really adore the Norsk countries, especially Norway and Sweden. To hear that they like us too really felt good. I would love it if our country would have stronger ties. I have been in Norway maybe 16 months ago. In one cafe in Trondheim I read a small book „The social guidebook to Norway“. Was funny as hell as I have experienced much of those descriptions during my vacation. Just recommend that book if you plan any trip to Norway. Myself I never had any negative thought when it comes to Norwegians. Germans show quite different characters depending where they are from. In my experience quite big differences between some regions.
What surprises me in your videos is the number of people you interview in Trondheim who are not from Trondheim 🤔😁. Are they tourists? Do they work there and have a great mobility? Your last question to them is interesting for even for a French like me, we can hear the differences in dialects ( the subtitles help too). Trondheim have the biggest university in Norway and is often called the student city. So there are lots of people from all over the country that move here to get their degree.
Germans like Norwegians and Norwegians like germans that is because we are germanics and we have almost the same culture . Its the same with Sweden, netherlands and Dennmark
I have to say: I don't know anything about Norway except they should be similar to us, Germans, as the northern European countries are. But after this video I'm very impressed of these people. I'm even curious enough to want to go there for a holiday. These Norwegians don't have these platitudes too ready to be offered. Like this: "The Germans are rude or boring". The last teenager did say it but she is young, it's understandable. I've seen so many videos with people to be asked on the streets about Germany, so many of them did sound like records of the same stereotypes.They are saying stereotypes without thinking on their own. But not these Norwegians. These people are thinking, really thinking about what their own opinion is. And they also say "I know too little to know properly". Very appealing. The way how they act express much what the Norwegians may be. And now I'm curious about this country.

Thank you Norwegian People for the nice compliments I have never heard so many nice words about us. Actually, I do agree there is not anything nice to say about our past, but we are trying and I am happy and surprised that it seems to work. I also want to give back the compliment I’ve been to Norway once (yes with a camper! ) and it was very interesting, loved the amazing churches, the fjords, the sun not setting, only it seemed a bit cold to me, that was in 1986. So Danke and it is true all Norwegian people I met were friendly.
Then it's time for another visit - Start with Oslo - Norway has changed much more than Germany in the last 30 years - in fact unavoidable - very modern, clean and very nice. I've been to Germany at least 30 times since 1980.

What do Norwegians think of Dutch I wonder. We have a good rivalry in skating (or had it hope it comes back). We think of Norway that it has a beautiful countryside. That it has nice people, that they talk a bit funny since the language is similar to ours and that the people in the end are very similar to us too. But a video about what Norwegians think of NL would be nice.

(I had German friends perhaps back in 2007/2008..They inspired me to learn German..and many years later, I have done DuoLingo German as my first second language in 2019, thanks to my music appreciation teacher who grew up in Germany..I have done DuoLingo German twice..That is pain beyond pain..I want to visit Germany and the other German speaking countries, Austria and Switzerland..I have heard many good things about them..)
Quite interesting that some people in the clip thought Norwegians and Germans have similar working behaviour. Actually having worked with both of them I find Norwegians really relaxed while they are at work, trying not to be overwhelmed by the job they are carrying on. If they have a break f.e. from 10:50 to 11:20 they might be starting at 10:45 and come back at 11:25. If they can they always smile. At least this is the experience I had (I have worked with STATOIL). Germans are quite the opposite: strict, stubborn and obsessed with timetables and smiling while working is usually not an option. I‘m German and have to say that I realized that that, the Norwegian language doesn’t sound a lot different to German if it’s spoken naturally. I have to admit that we use to have kinds of people that are often a lot louder then the rest😅. But it doesn’t sound any more angry than English or Norwegian. THAT is a typical stereotype.

Awww ... so many nice things. 😊 I've been to Norway several times now, pretty much everywhere from Oslo to the North Cape and I just love the country! Never once have I met an even slightly unfriendly Norwegian. If I spoke the language I would seriousely consider emigrating to Tromsø. Not sure if you'd want me though, it's not like I'm highly qualified or specially trained in any field. 😅 I'm just a receptionist at a Radisson Blu Hotel and you guys have plenty of those, so maybe that can be a chance for me. We'll see. 😊 Also don't get me started on your nature and landscape! It's just awe-inspiring! I always say in Germany we have the sea at one end of the country and the mountains on the other end. Fun fact: the german house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg inherits the norwegian throne. They are a side line of the also german house of Oldenburg, who are the kings of denmark.
Greetings from Berlin! I find this video cute because I grew up in Trondheim. That footage is not from November 2020, that is for sure... I think also you have been very selective with the responses. No one brought up kinky sexual practices, for example. Admittedly, most Norwegians are too shy or polite and avoid confrontational or non-mainstream topics as much as possible. I would claim it is common knowledge, if you have spent any time in either of the countries, that Germans and Norwegians have a thing for each other, especially Germans for Norwegians or Norway in general. This goes way back historically, and is not particularly kinky because the two countries share a lot of cultural and linguistic elements historically. Just think about what the common breakfast is in both countries, they are like twins.

It's so funny to hear that "Trailer Camper Tourist" thing. I'm from Germany and I didn't know that's such a thing about us Germans. :D I never met anyone who owns one or goes camping during the holidays, but I'm only 33, so maybe it's a thing of the older generations? For me, it were always people of the Netherlands who are trailer camper tourists. ^^
If I was in a video like this and someone asked me, a German, what I know about Norway.. It just would be embarrassing. I literally know nothing about Norway expect I know about the fjords and I loved Skam. And I don't really think that there are stereotypes about Norwegians, at least I don't know any. But one thing which I realized in my Geography classes is that in almost all indices about where the happiest people live and stuff like that, Norway always was close to or actually was first place🤔
I am German and have been to Norway three years ago. One thing that was very obvious to me during that trip: the Norwegians are far more relaxed than the Germans. That`s no wonder. Norway and Germany have about the same size, but as there are about 6 million people living in Norway, there are about 83 million people in Germany. The population here is so dense, that you are automatically more stressed. A cliche I have in mind is: The Norwegians drink even more alcohol than the Germans, they just don`t confess it.
I feel the answers are a bit off sometimes, since he clearly have asked them about another country beforehand, so it seems like they compare their answers with the previous one. It was the same thing with the Denmark/Sweden survey.
from a German Central European perspective, countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Dutch, Austria, Switzerland, Finland are more like culturally likeminded suburbs. In reality almost exactly the same with a bit of different regional flair. But there are sometime real differences which are rather kind of surprising, for instance that Norway is almost as strict with alcohol as countries like India (I know why they did that but its still weird). When I grew up in the 80s in Norway I still heard a lot of negative stuff about Germans. The legacy of WWII took a long time to heal. But I have been very positively impressed with Germans that I have met myself. Very polite, proper, decent and helpful people. I think a lot of us Norwegians get very surprised when being around Germans for a while just how similar they are to us. I think the legacy of WWII made a lot of us think Germany was like this totally different planet and we aligned ourselves more strongly with the British and Americans. But the truth is that Americans and Brits are much more different from us in mentality and how society works than Germany.
I think the key differences between Norwegians and Germans are:
- Germans care a lot more about hierarchy and titles. Norwegians have almost a disdain for hierarchy and titles and prefer flat power structures. Norwegians think people should be addressed the same way by first name whomever they are. Learning German in school I notice how different it is having to deal with grammar related to politeness and formalism.
- Germans are more structured and hard working. Norwegians are more chill, and I think tend to wing it more. Making detailed plans. Writing down what you are going to do in an agenda, is more of a German thing I think.
- I notice e.g. German super market are a lot more efficient than Norwegian ones. But they are also kind of rigid. Norwegians I think are a bit more pragmatic and will simply ignore rules they think are in the way for a smooth operation. E.g. in Germany I experienced a whole line held up while I had to dig up a 5 euro cent for an extra plastic bag. That would never happen in Norway. The cashier would deem the cent not worth holding up the line for.
- Germans are well organized. When playing computer games I like being on teams with Germans. They have a structured plan and ideas about what everybody should do to win. And while there is this stereotype about Nazis, Germans are very friendly in this kind of cooperation. I find that e.g. Americans and Brits are more likely to get pissed off about losing and passing around blame, rather than come up with a constructive plan.
- Germans are strangely both more liberal and more conservative than Norwegians. Like in Germany you could have a beer at 16, and things like prostitution and drugs seem much more liberal. OTOH Norwegians are more keen to use new technology, having women in higher positions etc.

The only point i would add something on, is that drugs especially weed is in some federal state an absolut taboo like in bavaria. The Police there is really hard when it comes to weed or other drugs. It is better to drive a car after 2-3 "Maß" than rather smoke a Joint in Bavaria, the fine you will get is much lower. In Berlin or Cologne it is a whole different story when it comes to sanctions on weed consume.
But i think my comment is a german thing too. You did a nice job, but a german will find a thing to criticize. This is what the German society is about 🤣

As an American with family roots all over northwest Europe, I appreciate this kind of comprehensive discussion about Germany from a Norwegian point of view. Many years have passed since my Norwegian ancestors emigrated from Europe to Minnesota and I have no more direct contact with Norway, but my German ancestors of more recent vintage never lost touch with us except during the war years, and I visit them and they visit me often. Your views of Germans are quite measured and fair, as are mine. On the other hand, we must never forget history, especially as it may even now impact our lives as in the close call we Americans just had within what was until now considered a progressive society that emphasized, as you put it, "passing around blame." That is one of the weaknesses of the American experiment with constructing a truly multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-racial new nation. It is often through conflict rather than consilience that long-lasting institutions find, ultimately, common ground. Ole Rølvåg was someone who, although overtly a pessimist, wrote about that process.
I am German. The thing with the camper trailers is simple. As soon as summer comes, Germany is invaded by dutch people with there camper trailers. So the German camper trailers are expunged out of there own country and flee to the far north. ;-)
I've been to Norway in 1989 at age 16 and I loved it. I was surprised and humbled by how many Norwegians spoke German. I plan to return once we got over the plague...

In Denmark we have SOOOO many germans in the summer!!! There was 17 million germans on summer vacation here in 2019. Denmarks population is 5,8 million.

As a German living in norway, i was always amazed about the welcoming and open culture.
There were some of the usual 'nazi' germany comments from some elders and some jokes about our working mentality 😂
But i think german and norsk people share a lot of the same values in life

I personally have no German friends as of today, I used to have a friend from Cologne, she stayed in our "W.G" for a few months, and since I also speak German ,we would very often watch the news together in the evening, have a coffee and a chat in a local cafè etc. Ich war schon 5-6 Mal in Deutschland; Berlin, Erfurt, München, Köln.. und ich fahre gerne zurück. I never met 'cold' or 'reserved' norwegians, i Always felt welcomed. But german culture is often described as 'reserved' or 'serious' too, so maybe we just shared that traits 😃
@@user-th9ek3jl7b Exactly. Maybe people from Germany AND the Nordic countries-and, from what I`ve heard, also the Netherlands-share a few common traits. We are, supposedly, more reserved than the "lively Latinos". There are stereotypes everywhere, and sometimes they do of course apply.. but there are soo many exceptions to the rule and also: today Norwegians travel a LOT more than 30-40 years ago, meaning that we get a lot of impulses from other countries and cultures. Also: it depends on what person that you meet, and WHEN.

Yesterday when I talked with a friend, I said: "I heard Norwegians are cold and reserved. Where is all of that? They are so incredibly nice."
Maybe this will change once I see them in person in Trondheim but up till now I have only friendly and warm experiences.

I am sure you will meet some nice people in Trondheim- Norway in general has a very low crime rate.
I'm German, I love Norway and Norwegians. I travelled to Norway with my father a few times, Norway has some of the most beautiful nature and landscapes I have ever seen. And the stereotypes about camper vans are actually true, we actually went to Norway with a camper van. See it as a compliment, many Germans love the Norwegian nature and landscapes and want to experience them in a direct, flexible way.

@@lauralugt2816 Actually, Swedish is the most like German out of the three languages (Norwegian, Danish and Swedish), it has ä and ö like from German and Turkish, and of course Finnish and Estonian. Umlauts they're called, I think. Kven, Lapp and Meänkeli are spoken by very few people in Norway and Sweden, same with Ny Norsk, only about 20% of Norway uses Ny Norsk, most use Norsk Bokmål (which literally translated means book language, kind of, edit- Ny Norsk means New Norwegian, it was introduced in the mid 1800's to seperate Norwegian from Danish, more or less the reason for it, I can barely understand it) I know this stuff from Norwegian and Swedish people I talk with on UA-cam, in Swedish, I also talk to danes cuz I can understand Danish.

I'm German, in my mid 40's and I never ever have heard someone say anything bad about Norwegians/Norway. Never EVER! I know some people who've been there and they were all delighted. It's definitely on my bucket list to go visit one day.
When I was six I went to Norway (Lofoten) for the first time, now I"m 43 and I fall in love. Since then I've been there many times and I'm looking forward to going back to this great country soon. Greetings from Germany.

@@peggyeaston1575 - Exactly. My father was very reluctant to talk about what he went through. My grandmother would tell me a little, but suffice to say that the occupation was anything but 'friendly'.
My family owns a cabin on the west coast. I wanted to rent it out to german fishing tourists, but my grandfather said no. He was 15 back then when Kristiansund was firebombed. But that was his generation. It's forgiven and almost forgotten now.
When I went to Norway I felt the same: we are very similar, felt like a second home to me
I'm German and have been to Norway twice. I also had the impression the cultures and the people are quite similar. Felt almost immediately at home, no feeling of culture shock whatsoever. A difference is perhaps that Norwegians seem a bit more relaxed and easy-going. And that everyone speaks English incredibly well. And of course the nature is vastly different (Norwegian nature is more beautiful, more pristine).
Norwegians are like a cool "light" version of us Germans. :D

@@rdmname same as German, Norwegian Danish, Swedish and Luxembourg from the Proto Germanic language. Its routes are in the frisic dialect same as the dialect Germans have spoken (only few still do) in the German regions north of the Netherlands.
As Kid I still had to learn ("Plattdeutsch") the dialect spoken in Hamburg and was able to understand some Dutch. Dutch and German (talking about high German here) seperated back in the 14th century when the Dutch did not adapt the second change of consonants. The Scandinavian dialects and the Germanic dialect separated much earlier into own languages. Old English is also a language that came from the frisic dialect of the Anglo-Saxonies with more latin influence coming from the Normans later. German today has as much in comon with the dialects back in the 13. century as Dutch. So Dutch is not a originating from German both are originating from the same rootes

I have been in Norway maybe 16 months ago. In one cafe in Trondheim I read a small book „The social guidebook to Norway“. Was funny as hell as I have experienced much of those descriptions during my vacation. Just recommend that book if you plan any trip to Norway. Myself I never had any negative thought when it comes to Norwegians. Germans show quite different characters depending where they are from. In my experience quite big differences between some regions.
What surprises me in your videos is the number of people you interview in Trondheim who are not from Trondheim 🤔😁. Are they tourists? Do they work there and have a great mobility?
Your last question to them is interesting for even for a French like me, we can hear the differences in dialects ( the subtitles help too).

Trondheim have the biggest university in Norway and is often called the student city. So there are lots of people from all over the country that move here to get their degree.

Thank you Norwegian People for the nice compliments I have never heard so many nice words about us. Actually, I do agree there is not anything nice to say about our past, but we are trying and I am happy and surprised that it seems to work. I also want to give back the compliment I’ve been to Norway once (yes with a camper! ) and it was very interesting, loved the amazing churches, the fjords, the sun not setting, only it seemed a bit cold to me, that was in 1986. So Danke and it is true all Norwegian people I met were friendly.
Then it's time for another visit - Start with Oslo - Norway has changed much more than Germany in the last 30 years - in fact unavoidable - very modern, clean and very nice. I've been to Germany at least 30 times since 1980.

What do Norwegians think of Dutch I wonder. We have a good rivalry in skating (or had it hope it comes back). We think of Norway that it has a beautiful countryside. That it has nice people, that they talk a bit funny since the language is similar to ours and that the people in the end are very similar to us too. But a video about what Norwegians think of NL would be nice.
When it comes to ski jumping we beat you. Skating is not fun anymore as you always win. 😭
Jeg hadde tyske venner kanskje tilbake i 2007/2008..de inspirert meg å lære tysk..og mange år senere, jeg har gjort DuoLingo German som mitt første andrespråk i 2019, takk til min musikk takknemlighet lærer som vokste opp i tyskland..Jeg har gjort DuoLingo German to ganger..Det er smerte utover smerte..Jeg vil besøke Tyskland og de andre tysktalende landene, Østerrike og Sveits..Jeg har hørt mange gode ting om dem..
(I had German friends perhaps back in 2007/2008..They inspired me to learn German..and many years later, I have done DuoLingo German as my first second language in 2019, thanks to my music appreciation teacher who grew up in Germany..I have done DuoLingo German twice..That is pain beyond pain..I want to visit Germany and the other German speaking countries, Austria and Switzerland..I have heard many good things about them..)
And Germans love Norway. It's kind of a dream destination for a lot of Germans!
Quite interesting that some people in the clip thought Norwegians and Germans have similar working behaviour. Actually having worked with both of them I find Norwegians really relaxed while they are at work, trying not to be overwhelmed by the job they are carrying on. If they have a break f.e. from 10:50 to 11:20 they might be starting at 10:45 and come back at 11:25. If they can they always smile. At least this is the experience I had (I have worked with STATOIL). Germans are quite the opposite: strict, stubborn and obsessed with timetables and smiling while working is usually not an option.

I‘m German and have to say that I realized that that, the Norwegian language doesn’t sound a lot different to German if it’s spoken naturally. I have to admit that we use to have kinds of people that are often a lot louder then the rest😅. But it doesn’t sound any more angry than English or Norwegian. THAT is a typical stereotype.
So nice to hear how the Norwegians responded. It resembles with my experience that I got as I lived in Norway. Og like måte. Norge er virkelig et vakkert land med so mange fine mennesker!

I've been to Norway several times now, pretty much everywhere from Oslo to the North Cape and I just love the country! Never once have I met an even slightly unfriendly Norwegian. If I spoke the language I would seriousely consider emigrating to Tromsø. Not sure if you'd want me though, it's not like I'm highly qualified or specially trained in any field. 😅
I'm just a receptionist at a Radisson Blu Hotel and you guys have plenty of those, so maybe that can be a chance for me. We'll see. 😊

Fun fact: the german house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg inherits the norwegian throne. They are a side line of the also german house of Oldenburg, who are the kings of denmark.

Greetings from Berlin! I find this video cute because I grew up in Trondheim. That footage is not from November 2020, that is for sure... I think also you have been very selective with the responses. No one brought up kinky sexual practices, for example. Admittedly, most Norwegians are too shy or polite and avoid confrontational or non-mainstream topics as much as possible. I would claim it is common knowledge, if you have spent any time in either of the countries, that Germans and Norwegians have a thing for each other, especially Germans for Norwegians or Norway in general. This goes way back historically, and is not particularly kinky because the two countries share a lot of cultural and linguistic elements historically. Just think about what the common breakfast is in both countries, they are like twins.

It's so funny to hear that "Trailer Camper Tourist" thing. I'm from Germany and I didn't know that's such a thing about us Germans. :D I never met anyone who owns one or goes camping during the holidays, but I'm only 33, so maybe it's a thing of the older generations? For me, it were always people of the Netherlands who are trailer camper tourists. ^^
What does the word "Tusk" mean in Norwegian? In Russian, "German"(Nemetz) means "mute".
If I was in a video like this and someone asked me, a German, what I know about Norway.. It just would be embarrassing. I literally know nothing about Norway expect I know about the fjords and I loved Skam. And I don't really think that there are stereotypes about Norwegians, at least I don't know any.
But one thing which I realized in my Geography classes is that in almost all indices about where the happiest people live and stuff like that, Norway always was close to or actually was first place🤔
I am German and have been to Norway three years ago. One thing that was very obvious to me during that trip: the Norwegians are far more relaxed than the Germans. That`s no wonder. Norway and Germany have about the same size, but as there are about 6 million people living in Norway, there are about 83 million people in Germany. The population here is so dense, that you are automatically more stressed. A cliche I have in mind is: The Norwegians drink even more alcohol than the Germans, they just don`t confess it.

I feel the answers are a bit off sometimes, since he clearly have asked them about another country beforehand, so it seems like they compare their answers with the previous one. It was the same thing with the Denmark/Sweden survey.
from a German Central European perspective, countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Dutch, Austria, Switzerland, Finland are more like culturally likeminded suburbs. In reality almost exactly the same with a bit of different regional flair. But there are sometime real differences which are rather kind of surprising, for instance that Norway is almost as strict with alcohol as countries like India (I know why they did that but its still weird).
