NERVES OF STEEL!!! Something I could never do but absolutely beautiful. I was so nervous for you at the beginning, to get your mind set up for it must be just as challenging as the jump. Thank you for sharing this, what an amazing place.
@@DomeWingsuit Yes I have climbed mountains thru my life so exposure doesn't bother me too much but at that moment right before you jump must be something so intense!! as there's no turning back. If I was younger I would pursue this activity but at 57 I don't think I have the time/nerve
@@mpreiss7780 Back in the days when I was climbing I usually felt way more exposed than with a wingsuit on an exitpoint... a single pitch, sometimes one single move can cost more to overcome than a basejump... It's definitely the more challenging activity if you ask me 😉 But yes, the moment of jumping is unique, time and spaceless. pure freedom.
@@DomeWingsuit Yeah agreed climbing is more challenging and can be extremely exposed and downright frightening but that moment of jumping off (especially your 1st couple jumps) must just be so intense especially as a climber you do everything you can not to let go of the rock/ice but this calls for total trust in letting go. How long does take to learn wingsuit? I've heard u need hundreds of parachute jumps 1st, ect... who monitors all this?
@@mpreiss7780 haha, you´re totally right, it´s contradicting the climbers approach :) the feeling of letting everything behind is absolutely unique and for one or 2 seconds it is quiet. as soon as the suit gets some pressure you basically feel like a bird soaring away from the cliff... It actually takes some time to learn basejumping respectively wingsuiting... you take skydiving lessons and do 200, 300, some do 1000 jumps out of plane first before jumping of a cliff - first without a wingsuit, later with a small one... takes some time. you definitely need some skills to do this in the long run... I started 10 years ago and recorded more than 1000 jumps to date. but still, that prooves nothing - the next one could be the last one. if you´re interested in basejumping check out this: www.basejumper.com/Articles/Getting_Into_BASE/ If you´re more to the dark side see here: bfl.baseaddict.com/list
I had same parachute, red and white with 7 cells. Feel nostalgy of my wing, can you let me know if it is a PD176R? I sold mine years ago at the Verona skydiving school, was purchased by somebody living in Brescia but at the school they don't have his contact infos. Maybe that is my parachute, if it is so i am glad to see it again :)
@@DomeWingsuit thank you for your reply, i really appreciate it. I regret i sold my wing. To see that ATAIR makes me back to the best years of my life. Enjoy your jumps and thanks for posting the video!
@@DomeWingsuit really? the stability is amazing. some of the head movement (left-right) looked very robotic, that's why I though it was done post with a 360 :)
@@DomeWingsuit Well, I made 1500 normal jumps during my active time, just regular relative work and freestyle. During that time I had two failures of my main, if I rember right a PD 160. Would I have opened between 200 and 400, I would most likely be dead by now, even with a reserve chute at hand. I don‘t understand what you are doing, wish you always good luck. Stay safe!
Yah, with a skydiving rig + canopy I wouldn´t go so low too, but a BASE-rig is completely different. 7cell 220-260 vented canopy + super simple container, no POD, tailpocket for the lines, mesh-slider etc... Also the packing technique is a bit more demanding, similar to skydiving reserve packjob. All in all it is pretty reliable and safe, I have 1300 basejumps and not one issue, at least no real thing... it´s pretty safe ;)

At which height above ground do you guys open the chute, seems pretty low to me..in case your main canopy fails...
We don't have a reserve canopy in a BASE-rig, the main is the only one. So failure is not an option. Opening altitude is between 200 and 400m.
