This is my favorite boondocks episode. They went overboard with this one. Look at their faces when uncle ruckus version starts. 😭. The guy in the glasses is me watching them.
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes from Season 2…simply cause of Ruckus popping out of thin air and somehow having photo evidence of Catcha Freeman🤣 Not to mention Riley calling out Granddad mid-story about the slaves referencing Batman🤣🤣 Also next episode is my favorite one of the season!!😂✊🏽🌈
Thelma has Huey's face and revolutionary spirit, and Riley's shooting skills. Tobias had Robert's cowardice and opportunism Massa Colonel has Robert's whipping skills
7:04 - 7:09 Suraj was just ON IT when Ruckus showed up with his story of Catcher Freeman, or Catcha Freeman. He just knew Ruckus was going to be on some wild shit with his Catcha Freeman story!
Django Unchained(2012). This film is a meticulously crafted homage to spaghetti Westerns, explicitly drawing inspiration from the 1966 Italian movie Django, directed by Sergio Corbucci. Notably, Franco Nero, the lead actor in Django, makes a brief cameo appearance in this highly stylized and extensively reimagined tribute.
The messed-up part about ruckus's story is that old Southern history books actually did say things like "slaves would often have picnics and BBQs with their masters" so it was likely people legitimately saw slavery in a similar way as him.
I really enjoy you all watching this together. When the Boondocks came out I was fresh out of high school and my friends and I would all go to my boy's house to watch because he had the biggest TV. Brings back memories.
The biggest tragedy of this show is us never getting Riley's version of catcher freeman. The producers said it was too epic and expensive of a budget to pull it of though 😂😂😂
I love how uncomfortable the show makes everyone, it makes things awesome!! Season 3 is gonna be a riot!!! Also Rana's monkey comment was underrated gold! Love her reactions!!
We don’t really talk a whole lot about slavery in Texas history. We’re told that it happens but for the most part Texas really isn’t as extreme as the other confederate states in terms of racism
But then ofc the Texas Revolutionary War and Alamo is glorified in Elementary school like Texas wasn't straight up stolen from Mexico. btw Mexico actually abolished slavery in Texas decades before the Civil War which was a big reason the increasingly anglo population rebelled in the first place. Then it was reinstated as Texas became a slave state when they joined the US and the rest is history.
Yeah season 3 is where it all peaked for me, although I know some will overrate some episodes over others because they’re 1 family member focused over the rest. Also I thought the Catcher Freeman episode would’ve been later.
I like how accurate each version of Thelma is to her storyteller: Grandad's version is just the love interest damsel in distress. Uncle Ruckus's is a treacherous temptress. Huey's is the leader and freedom fighter
I still remember back to when the trailer for "Django Unchained" dropped and everybody was like "Oh shit! They finally made the Catcher Freeman movie!" 😁
Right? Like, it's a comedy that does not demands you to laugh directly at what's on screen, but rather the absurd contexr of it, it's a sarcastic type of humor, no need to feel ashamed.
As a Texan native, I can say that we mostly talked about the Alamo and Republic of Texas. We do talk about Civil War, Texas did vote to join the confederacy, but Sam Houston, one of the founding fathers of Texas, voted against this, but he was overruled.
The Normies are finally watching my top favorite episode of the season. The parody of Django and Tarzan! Suraj I said the exact same thing because that block gave me underground and Wonder Woman vibes
Neither Granddad or Ruckus wanting to give up their fantasy of "Catcher Freeman" was hilarious and also veeeery sad...and REALISTIC! COGNITIVE DISSONANCE, folks! 💁🏾♀️
Lets bfr tho, Navi def was onto something when she thought that woman was white because it’s a reason she didn’t have kinkier hair and a darker complexion.
By that standard it's also ok to not like Rukus. The whole point of Rukus is that he is just one of the worst people imaginable, I mean his intro music is a literal depressing trumpet. Most of their groaning is the point of the character, and because people like him actually exist. I would get what you are saying if they said "people can't enjoy the Rukus character", but they're not. Just live and let live.
@@darryljack6612 to be fair people like him probably do exist but less extreme. But this show just shows the best thing to do is laugh at the bs they say . That's what makes ruckus hilarious to be that someone could be so ignorant/stupid to believe the stuff they do .

10:32 actually no he wouldn't be crapping blood for weeks because anything that's foreign in the stomach the stomach automatically Coates it in mucus and allows it to pass safely my brother was forced to drink glass after he ran a foul and he was perfectly fine
This episode does a good job of parodying and acknowledging often time white interpretations of black history. Rather that be in the form of sensationalized movies that serve as an excuse for justified violence and action against slavers, a.k.a Django. Or the lack of any awareness or insight "history lessons" that only seek to make things seem not as bad as they were, a.k.a the the education system of florida and or texas.
