Man you can make cheap power it just won’t look like a show car. Get a shitty car. Then put the high ho motor in it. That’s what I did. I got a 85 awd turbo rx sedan. Then put 06 sti built forged motor with 100mm pistons. Studs. The works. I’m in the whole thing for less than 10k IV done all my own work being a machinist. I clearanced, the bearings, bored the block, align honed the mains, ported the head, if you do the work it becomes a lot cheaper. And I make 400 wheel hp and 400 wheel torque it was worth it
@user-nf3oq2ge3g yes labor is half the price but we are talking 5-600 hp there is a big difference there. Most people don't have the skills nor the tools for what you described you should be able to build a 1000 hp car for 20k since it sounds like you have the skills and facilities to do so
@@cavinlandry7546 if I had the money I’d be making solid power for sure. I’m just caught in the business where I make other people car 1000 hp and I barely scrape 400 wheel horse power together out of used parts. Everything I have is used or second hand parts that IV refurbished and I spent a lot of time doing it. To be able to buy the name brand quality parts would be a dream. I’m sure my motor could take more power but I don’t have the fuel system or the turbo to do it. Plus 400 wheel torque and 400 hp is a great number for a daily, it’s fun for sure. Could it be more. Ya but I’m happy with the price vs power and reliability. And it’s for fun. That’s the bottom line. I have fun doing it, and I also have fun building customer Subaru sand buggies that make serious power and are reliable are 800 hp on the sand all day long but they also bring me a giant trailer full of part which I don’t know where they get their money but it would be nice to know
@@OffTheLinePerformance damn okay , I was thinking of getting an 04 but I don't have the room or time to do the work . But am willing to spend the bread.

Subarus are unreliable overall, had an identical setup as the 600hp STI and I had multiple issues plenty of times for about 5 years owning the car till I finally said enough and moved the the Honda platform, I’ve had my type r for 3 years now pushing 600hp+ and not a single issue, my heart is always going to be for Subaru but damn my type r makes me happy by not breaking my bank and making me happy when I rip on it
Thank you for being realistic about pricing on these builds. People think you can build a “reliable” 600hp sti for 20 k and it’s just not possible🍻
We strive to spread the truth!!
Ya no u can hit those numbers on a stock block but it won’t be reliable. Gonna need a iag block which is spendy.

Again i would like to ask hp numbers dyno or crank???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
at the wheel of course.
so what are your numbers as you know tuners are aware of WHP or HP. What are you talkin about here? Be exact on this shit!
We only measure to the wheel as most dynos do. The 600 package made about 660wheel and the 400 package made 430wheel
So on the stock your not making power. wow.
if your talkin crank im makin that on a 470 whp on mustang. and have been for 7 years. so close to your clame of 600 hp not whp
