GTA 6 is gaining popularity and there hasn't even been an official announcement, other than the leaks. Rockstar sees the potential that the next GTA has to make them money and I have no doubt they'll exploit it

WE'VE FINALLY GOT GTA 6 TRAILER TODAY AND IT WAS AMAZING!
The percentage of people who are worried about the game because of a female lead is minuscule. We're mostly worried because the people in charge of the development keep saying things like they don't want to punch down "in contrast to previous games", and that sort of sounds like they're saying they don't like GTA and want to make a GTA game who's target audience is people who don't like what has historically made GTA games feel like GTA games.
It seems dumb to put it that way, but this same thing happened with Saints Row. The devs who actually made the really good games leave over time and new people who are out of touch with the fanbase or are more interested with greedily chasing down some massive phantom audience who want a Saints Row game that isn't a Saints Row game replace them. Eventually, a game that's made for everyone, and that no one wants, gets made. This whole video is full of lead devs from the old really good games quitting, the culture changing, and massive MASSIVE amounts of investors money being poured into the game (which needs to be recouped with extra profits).
This video should put anyone who liked the old GTA games on edge, unless you really think it's possible to change the company culture, vision, leadership, and add a massive amount of pressure to make an absurdly well selling product, all without ending up with a fundamentally different game coming out of a fundamentally different development environment.
Maybe the new focus on being progressive and not punching down sounds like things you like, that's fine. But, it's pretty shitty to look at a series of games that so many people have enjoyed for decades and act like the only thing they're worried about is the main character's gender.
It's part of the GTA humor, the radio ads, the cutscenes, it just adds humor and satire to the game. And all they have to do is the similar things as last time.
It's who you view as punching down too. Some groups of people literally call the shots and were made fun of for their psycho behavior in gta 5 but no doubt will not even be mentioned in this gta.
i guarantee you, they're beyond pleased with the billion$ they've made off the older games. punching up, doesn't mean "we're abandoning what got us there". it means "we're aiming to improve"
What are they aiming to improve? They're not happy with the way the old games were punching down. I'd argue that the old games were punching everywhere, all the time, as often as possible. I happened to like that.
What does GTA look like if they aren't punching down? Are all the lower-class people can-do-no-wrong working-class heroes? Does that sound interesting or bland to you? If that sounds like it's absurd, if you read that and think "Of course GTA writing will still feel like GTA writing", what are they going to change to stop punching down and what's the point of mentioning it if the impact on the feel of the game will be unnoticeable?
What does a GTA game whose writing and humor are being directed by new people with the express intention of making a game that's a "contrast to the previous games" look like? Is it just marketing or will they somehow make a game that's better than arguably the best video game series ever by totally changing their formula? Or, maybe, will they take a great series and run it into the ground? Or, maybe even worse, will they take a truly great series and make it mediocre?
Look into the history of the Saints Row reboot. It's another game that was created by people who replaced the old Saints Row devs who made great Saints Row games. They had massive pressure to make a ton of money and recapture the success of the old games, and in the end the game turned out to be shit. The reboot was made for a "new" audience who didn't like how crass the old games were, didn't like the tone of the old games, and wanted something more upbeat and inclusive.
This audience didn't exist. People who liked Saints Row didn't get a cool new Saints Row game, and the hypothetical audience of people who made up the vast majority of people who play video games but weren't Saints Row enjoyers didn't care about the reboot. The reboot was a massive failure. Volition, the Saints Row devs, were shut down. There will likely never be another Saints Row game ever again.
Unless you think that the people who made the Saints Row reboot wanted to make a game that was getting worse and not improving, you should consider that despite everybody's best efforts great things can be run into the ground with the best of intentions.
I'm not saying I think Rockstar will make a game that's so bad they will go broke, by the way. I'm saying that it's uncomfortably possible that they may make a game that's not particularly good. Possibly even a game that will make people want to skip through cutscenes, or rush through the story to unlock the open world and avoid the story altogether.
A sort of whiny open-world game made for people who thought GTA was too mean and insensitive of a series could be the next installment of GTA we've been waiting for all this time.
Yeah I'm also unsure what they mean by "in contrast to previous games". When did GTA punch down, exactly? Never noticed anything like that. If they just mean avoiding some poor taste jokes here and there then that's fine, but please keep the irreverent humor! It's the whole charm.

I wonder if the biggest challenge isn't the development of systems, coding, modeling and texturing, but rather the writers trying to satarize current day America, but with the boundaries that have been set and the hardship of even satarizing today's America.
One has to ask if the game will even carry GTAs spirit, or has all of GTAs talent left and we'll get an RDR game in GTA boots?

You have a team of high caliber engeeners working on small parts of the system - something majority of people can or would never be able to do, and this is just for small feature like water physics, or clouds etc... let alone an entire game...

I’m just seeing this 2 months after publication and I watched the whole thing on an old iPhone but still was really impressed with the presentation and production. Within the first few seconds I was wowed by how high the production value was compared to older Mors Mutual videos I’ve seen. Keep up the great work!

So much has changed in the last 10 years since the last entry, like the video says we’ve lived through some pretty wacky times. reasons why im confident gta6 will not be good
-the leads who wrote and directed gta5 and rdr2 have left the company
-rockstar has recently beefed up their gta online subscription service. This seems like a test attempt before they go all out with a full on subscription based model for many features in gta6 online
-the current gaming model in todays world is far more aggressive now than it was in 2013, we can only assume gta6 will have a full on cash shop and capitalize on fomo.
-many devs who worked on rdr1 and gta5 just arent at the company anymore. Rockstar has now become like every other AAA company, a bunch of millennials who think their game ideas are better than the fans and wont listen to them. We can already see this with gta online in the past 5 years.
If anyone here actually expects gta6 to be a good game, than please lower your expectations. Rockstar isnt the same company that released great story games anymore, theyre just a greedy and carefree as every other AAA company now.
This hurts my heart, man. I still play Diablo 2 and marvel at its uniquely-dark, evil, haunting aesthetic, as compared to the whimsical, dopey, cartoonish art style of 3, in the vein of WoW. 4 seems to be falling flat, even with their attempts to get back to the dark origins of the series, there's just no soul left, as all the original minds that made them great have left. Even ex-employees are telling fans not to expect the old Blizz ever again, it's over. Y2K onward was insane for PC gaming. Every living soul (exaggerating, obviously) played D2. I've met so many people and heard their stories of D2, finding that Shako and trade scamming, etc.
Never to happen again in such a capacity. Same with music; there's never going to be another invention of electric guitars and the evolution of heavy music, which also pains me to consider. Sorry for gushing..

I'll be honest, I have the feeling that GTA VI's story will be really basic and shitty, I simply cannot see a company today releasing a product with the classical transgressive, darker humor. I genuinely hope it comes out great as every GTA until now tho.

The only thing I probably find GTA 6 mastering would be the atmosphere and immersion with the world it takes place in. Maybe the story might not be good and maybe there will be lots of micro transactions that lock content behind paywalls, but I know for a fact that they’ll make this game very immersive
There’s no way bro. I think it’s going to be the opposite. Red dead 2’s story is one of rockstars most impactful story. It is one of the most diverse and meaningful story in a video game I have personally have ever played. If they take the same approach to gta 6 I can’t see them not being able to deliver a dramatic/serious story like they did for read dead

When GTA V was slowly being announced, Rockstar just came off the heels of GTA IV and it's DLCs. I was so excited, it became that one game I wanted above all.
Now though GTA VI has come off a legacy of Rockstar and Take Two basically destroying every good thing their companies have produced over the last 20 years. Now I'm supposed to jump up and down when GTA VI gets announced with screenshots and logos.
The game may very well be there but Rockstar lost their soul.

This might just be the very last GTA installment to ever exist. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually announce it so shortly after they release a trailer. With all those key players disappearing from the franchise, it's probably time to hang it up and focus on other projects.

The amount of effort put into this video is amazing we know when it comes to single player rockstar does a very good job at making it immersive, but as for online im afraid its gonna get filled with sharkcards and gta+, and the sad reality is that even with all of their greed and lack of communication, people will buy gta 6 and forgive them at the end.
