It does not matter if the map is big, if there is barely anything you can do in it, and if it offers so little.... like the map of GTA 5. Most of the map was empty space with barely any enterable buildings, it just felt so static and dull.
That was my gripe with Blaine county. You could’ve added passive activity like hunting wildlife, or for exploration, have hidden entrances on the mountains that leads to secret bases or just nice places for treasure hunts. Grapeseed and Paleto bay is useless because there’s no explorable buildings there and it’s lifeless. GTA V's map size was fine, good even, but they didn't do enough with it. They focused too much on the countryside, since that's what players wanted. Countryside.
Execution is more important than size. Even though the GTA 5 map is very sprawled out with a lot of wide open spaces, there are very few places that actually feel remote. Like, there's no spot in the desert where you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, with no civilization in sight. I feel like San Andreas did a better job at this, the shorter render distance helps a lot for this.
Yeaaa I didn’t like that either. No where in GTA5 do you really feel like your hours from civilization, even on my chilliad feels like just a short walk to people.

1:12 Also because the game punishes you for leaving the city by slowly draining your stats when you're outside it. Why do they punish players for wanting to explore the map?
I hope it’s not just mostly evergreens and swamplands like in GTA 5 as most of the map is mountains that nobody really explores and goes there. There should be more cities to be explored then just the main land, Vice City
I don’t understand people who say “Map doesn’t need to be large it needs to be dense” Well for how long we have waited for GTA VI, it should be both massive in size and dense and diverse too, with lots of enterable building, every time Rockstar releases a game I expected them to blow away the competition, I hope they do this again, at least 2 Big cities with 4 small towns/county, and Swamps, a Massive Lake and some forests, and make a map as such where exploring with Boats/Jet skies would be nice
GTA6 being the same size as GTA5 but more dense and detailed would be perfectly fine tho. But obviously theres nothin wrong with expecting more since RDR2 is massive AND detailed, although its way easier to detail an old world than the modern world
That's not possible though. Not only are their resources not limitless but they also have to keep modern hardware limitations in mind. There is no way to make a game with a massive open world that is also very dense with loads of explorable buildings unless they are going to divide the areas and put loading screens between them. Though even then they would still be limited in what they could do.
@@-sanju- Are you living in the past, you don't need loading screens. Also world streaming is a thing. it can be infinitely big and not cause a problem, especially since modern consoles and pcs use SSDs so world streaming is faster and easier. There is absolutely a way to make a dense, and large map work on modern hardware.
@@luigiwiiUU it wouldn't be "perfectly fine" for a map size of a 7th gen game on a 9th gen console. the map of GTA V isn't bad by any means but its very small compared to todays standards
Nah, I hope the map is huge, so that they can finally fix the top speed issue. In GTA V, a multi-million dollar hypercar with 1000hp only has a slightly higher top speed than some average NPC car. They artificially limited the speeds so hard because if you could drive at the actual speed of the car, the map would feel very small because you could cross it in a really short amount of time. Making the map larger allows them to increase the top speeds of vehicles, which will make driving/flying, which is a big and important part of the game, feel a lot more realistic.
And if they made the map bigger, it doesn't mean that the vehicles will be faster, It really helps rockstar to make the map feel big, if they increase the speed and the map, the map would this feel the same size as GTA 5 again The map will be bigger, and with same speeds so players notice the difference in the map
@@nimbites No they just are not. If you know anything about cars and their specifications, then you know that almost every car in GTA V is artificially limited in its top speed compared to the real life counterpart. This difference is greater the faster a car is irl and affects both story mode and online mode, since the cars and the map are the exact same. If that artificial limit wasn't there, supercars would be 2x faster than normal npc cars, and not just slightly faster. Next time you drive a car in the game, use first person and look at the dash, then look up how fast that car goes irl. I promise you, a lambo for example goes much faster than 120mph.
@@nimbites If you have to use a physics glitch to make cars not be slow, that tells you everything you need to know lmao I'm talking about straight line top speed without using any weird tricks that don't even exist irl. Cars are really slow in GTA compared to real life. That is a fact. I recommend that you drive a car irl first.
More detail would top a larger map IMO, and by that I mean enterable interiors and interactive events, RDR2 nailed it with the ability to revisit people you've met early in the game and their story will adapt to in game events... I mean that was AWESOME

I really hope no stone is left unturned with map design. Every area of the map should have things to do. The 'florida keys' for example could have mansions to rob, unique items in specific stores (only available there), unique areas to fish where there are unique/expensive fish, maybe a gang you can do a heist on, maybe a nice yacht with criminals where you can rob it and keep the yacht, rare hidden items to find, unique businesses you can manage, a sea plane on the southern tip that you can use to fly passengers with and make money, clues that start new missions, hidden side missions, things relating to the main story, special black market dealer, drug labs you can operate, mansions you can own, etc..
Well they doing the Bonnie and Clyde theme . So they have to have a big map because they was on the run a lot. I think we will have more robbing missions than more killing missions in the game. And I don't never see nobody talking about this but my pitch for an antagonist in the game will be someone that Jason and Lucia trusted he or she was a undercover informant working with the police. And I will want the betrayal to be just like how Lance betrayed Tommy since the game will be in vice City again
I think the only problem of GTA V's map is the fact that it contains just one city. If you include a country side, you can't just fill it with a few villages... I really hope GTA 6 will have more travel vibes like GTA San Andreas gives.
One of my biggest issues with GTA 5 was that planes and helis were so fun, but the distance between airports were so short. That and there was really no reason to use a boat, so as long as the map is big enough to incentivize these, I'm fine with it.
They don’t just make a big map to make a big map. They do it because they want to do more than a city but an state and i know they will add a lot of possible side activities and things to do around the map. Rdr2 was pretty big for an map to go across with an horse but you actually had reason to go almost everywhere except maybe new austin but even then you have so special interactions and easter egg there.

The amount of content is fixed, it can't magically increase. The only thing size changes is the content/area ratio. The bigger the map, the more space in between points of interest. @user-cs2mx4lt3q My point is absolutely true and undeniable, it's bizarre to claim otherwise. Content and map size have nothing in common whatsoever, there are games with bigger maps than Earth. You just interpreted my comment wrong. I never claimed that a smaller map is better. I like big maps myself. And size is a quality in itself. But the commenters' logic is "bigger map = more content", which is false. And sorry to disappoint you, I scrolled straight to point 4 and didn't bother reading your comment. My bad.
@@Ruzzky_Bly4t come on you didn't even read it 😂 you literally just said "nu uh" (yes this argument is a waste of time but if you don't bother responding then why comment in the first place?)
@user-cs2mx4lt3q Alright, I read your previous reply. Looks like somebody is a *very* big fan of easter eggs, huh? A big map is good because you can fit more easter eggs in there, and if you would put these easter eggs in a small map, the easter eggs would be so close together that finding the easter eggs would be too easy, so what's the point of having easter eggs in the first place. How can I not focus on one point when 70% of your comment is about easter eggs?? Ok, if you want to go on a grand adventure in search of these things, go for it. I never searched for easter eggs, so don't share your passion. And I'm utterly disappointed that your reply doesn't relate to mine whatsoever. 😕 I said that the commenter would be wrong to assume that a bigger map offers more content, as the content is not scalable with map size, unless we mean that a mountain with no quests and NPCs is content (I guess if we add an easter egg or two, you would be delighted to spend hours exploring that rock). But, ok, let's go off on a tangent if you want. "Exploration needs a big map". The game with the best exploration that I played is Fallout 4 (didn't play the others), which has a tiny map. But because you only move around by foot, and it's packed with content and structures to explore at your own pace, it's a ton of fun. Exploration is also the main way to get loot, so game design is on point. Minecraft, which is the game with the biggest map that I played, offers a fraction of that. Sure, you can walk in one direction for 10 hours if you want, but that adds nothing. The exploration is fun, but not comparable to a saturated, hand-crafted experience like Fallout 4. The witcher 3, a masterpiece, has pretty bad exploration with a much bigger map. Because there are few points of interests other than the question marks, so things are scattered around too much to dedicate time to simply exploration. If you can move by car, just scale the map to accommodate for that. Obviously, you need a much bigger size for that. I agree that nature should be huge and it's fine if it is empty. For instance, I'm still waiting to see a game with realistically scaled mountains, so climbing one is a journey in itself. That doesn't work if the mountain takes up your entire map. A big map requires a compact, main center of activities though. Otherwise, moving around takes too much time. And fast travel sucks, I never use it. You lose immersion, sense of scale and direction from it. I had to use it in the witcher 3 though, because moving around took so long. Cyberpunk got the scale almost right I think, although it would be great if the city would be 2-3 times bigger to really make it seem like a metropolis. So the ideal structure in my opinion is a smaller compact core, that doesn't require fast travel, and a huge expanse on the outside to add scale, with some scattered points of interest and quests to journey out if you want to. But the main map (the core) can't be too big, otherwise it gets boring to move from place to place, and there is less detail if developers are spread more thinly. I do not agree with the video that gta 5 is the ideal map size. I'm pretty sure the witcher 3 has a bigger map, and you only have a horse. So something like 5x the size of gta5 would probably be better.
I agree one of my fav things about gta games in general is exploring, finding easter eggs, roleplaying and it be amazing rp and exploration for a bigger map
It’s definitely a divided opinion I personally adore when any game as room to use than closed up maps that force you to do the same things over and over again
Yes it does @@Mitch93636 Unless you like to driving sports cars and supercars that can only do 150mph at best. Capped top speeds needs to go, and so it does needs a large map to accommodate.
Yes. I personally need it to be like twice as big as GTA V's map. The thing about GTA V is, the maps big, and I still find myself finding a new area or thing I haven't seen before, but the interiors are non existent, which makes the exterior the only real area for exploration... If I can't have at least 70% enterable buildings, then the map needs to be twice as big. Also, I want to be able to corden off an area of the map and make it mine, so to speak. I don't know if I'm the only person who does this, but I like to have a quadrant of the map under my general control.. More map means more freedom to do so.
I mean, the expectation of having bigger aspects in a game is normal for sequels, but we already saw that we can probably have a smaller map that's filled to the brim with minute details and interiors like GTA 4's Liberty City, I wouldn't be surprised if they go to a more "quality over quantity" approach with GTA 7's map
Having small map is one of the reasons GTA 4 flopped so hard in community's eyes. Slow cars, barely any room to even drive, random events are few but NOT FAR in between, which feels stupid. Tho in GTA 5 the map really feels like a stage decoration with how little interiors there are
@@BLET_55artem55 we don't need a map THIS small. a map GTA V's size would be enough. maybe add a second city but make it more accessible! Walking around a city when all the buildings are just png's and photos slapped on the walls doesn't make it realistic or immersive
@@R0DBS I literally said that GTA 4's map "size/content balance" is garbage because it's too tightly packed but in GTA 5 it's garbage for the opposite reason (barely any content on a gigantic map). And I've always liked freeroam interiors (going as far as learning wall clips just to visit them whenever I want), so the alleged 70% enterable and (reasonably) fully explorable buildings in 6 looks very promising (even if it's like 35% it's still gonna be awesome)

GTA V's map size was fine. Making Paleto Bay so boring was its only flaw. Have another city as large as the city of Los Santos in the top of the map and the map would have been perfect.
I think Paleto Bay is OK, but another town, bigger than that along the north east - east, would have helped the map tremendously.
GTA V's map size was fine, good even, but they didn't do enough with it. They focused too much on the countryside, since that's what players wanted. Countryside.
i wish we had gotten Las Venturas or San Fierro because despite it being bigger in size San Andreas feels 3 times larger than 5

Ac origins does a good job in that regard, the sand dunes make you feel like you're really in the middle of the desert

I don’t understand people who say “Map doesn’t need to be large it needs to be dense”
Well for how long we have waited for GTA VI, it should be both massive in size and dense and diverse too, with lots of enterable building, every time Rockstar releases a game I expected them to blow away the competition, I hope they do this again, at least 2 Big cities with 4 small towns/county, and Swamps, a Massive Lake and some forests, and make a map as such where exploring with Boats/Jet skies would be nice
@@luigiwiiUU it wouldn't be "perfectly fine" for a map size of a 7th gen game on a 9th gen console. the map of GTA V isn't bad by any means but its very small compared to todays standards
GTA V's map was big but not dense. Yet RDR2s map was big and dense. Odd.
And if they made the map bigger, it doesn't mean that the vehicles will be faster, It really helps rockstar to make the map feel big, if they increase the speed and the map, the map would this feel the same size as GTA 5 again
The map will be bigger, and with same speeds so players notice the difference in the map
Idk what y’all on about the cars in gta 5 are really fast unless it’s different in online compared to story
@@chris6ix. no gta v cars feel way faster than 120mph and if you think they are slow I recommend you try barrier boosting

Yes, it does need to have a huge map. Exploration is everything in a GTA game
I like the wide open spaces. Maybe it’s not as memorable for everyone else but it is for me. Feels realistic and adds a grand sense of scale/vastness
yes the bigger the map the more content we'll get
The amount of content is fixed, it can't magically increase. The only thing size changes is the content/area ratio. The bigger the map, the more space in between points of interest. If bigger map = more content would be true, games like the crew would have 100x the content of all GTA's and Elder Scrolls games combined.
@@Ruzzky_Bly4t1 yes it does small maps can get crowded and too packed with content in such a small map take for example assassins creed unity so much content packed in such a small fucking map that doesn't make for good gameplay (still a great game though)
2 the reason games like the elder scrolls and the crew don't have much content when we compare it to the map size is because the developers intentionally did that if they wanted to add content they can put almost limitless amounts of content because of the size of the map if they fill up an area they always have another area they can fill up with content something smaller maps don't have because they don't have many areas compared to bigger maps smaller maps are limited compared to bigger maps plus bigger maps have more easter eggs because you can run out of areas to fill up with easter eggs in smaller maps but in bigger maps you can almost never run out of areas to fill up with easter eggs if we take the amount of easter eggs put in a bigger map and put them in a smaller map the map will be so filled up with easter eggs that'll make the map so filled up with easter eggs that everywhere you look there's an easter egg then it's not really an easter egg isn't it and big maps offer a challenge to players to find easter eggs because of the size of the map and how many areas the developers can put the easter eggs in smaller maps easter eggs are usually found in like 8 seconds
3 size itself is content like take mount chiliad for example it has almost no content yet people always visit it because of many reasons like it's tall size or it's easter eggs ramps and many more reasons plus some gta players like exploration including me and exploration needs bigger maps and even more gta players like just driving around also including me and driving around needs bigger maps you don't wanna just keep running in circles around the map
4 please read my comment fully and don't just focus on one point

Yes we definitely need a bigger map if they gonna make a game every 12y we need more than one city
Tho in GTA 5 the map really feels like a stage decoration with how little interiors there are
I used to think that. Then saw how RDR2's map is bigger than GTA V's and filled with minute details.

I wish this video was 1 second long. Because this is how much it lasts to say "Yes".
The production on this vid is crazy. Thanks!
It surely does!! a map so big that it will make your head spin and filled with life and content like RDR2!! Been waiting for like more than a decade and I want perfection and only the best things in this game!!!
Ok if they don’t make a big 🗺️ at least make like 60% of the buildings accessible with a huge interior like a mall
It's going to have a mall. There is one in vice city.
@@justinkaufman495 it should have more then just a couple thou
@@DiaperSNiFFER I'm okay with they even just have 1. What I really want is space to drive. What's the point of having the fastest most expensive car in the game if you can't push the limits? I want to drive for hours, and still have stuff to discover. Give me a karuma, or an obey tailgater S, and let me enjoy the auto part of Grand theft auto.
0:07 it is the Skyrim map right?
funny guy
the florida keys could make boats and the water meaningful, as well as all the marshes and swamps and wetlands!
7:40 YEEESS. This is something that I’ve wanted so much, the interiors in buildings would be so awesome. I’ve always wanted that.
GTA 6 is going to change gaming...
We'll see. RDR2 was a big hit but it didn't really change the industry in any way.
@@-sanju-rdr2 is nowhere near as big as the gta series
@@EVERYTHINGPHONK Sure but it's still huge. RDR2 is currently the 7th best selling video game of all time and that's a big feat for a mainly single player game.
@@EVERYTHINGPHONK rdr2 is the seventh highest selling videogame
@@-sanju- I think it set a new high standard for open world games. But I guess it didn’t change the industry because other game companies aren’t going to invest that much time, money, and people into making a game that huge. Rockstar is pretty much the only company willing to make a game like that. Maybe CD Project Red too, but after Cyberpunk, not sure if they will do it again, it took them way too long
2:08 it wasn't built for ps3 and xbox one generation. thats not even the same generation. it was built for ps3 AND Xbox 360
Just do what they did for rdr2, big ass map where if you go off the beaten path you always see something cool
RDR2 has a huge map and it’s fun to just explore. And Blaine County’s biggest problem is there’s not a whole lot to do, which I guess is pretty accurate for the middle of the desert. As long as the open space is filled with something, it would be awesome.
We actually don't need big mao but need the lively hood in over world and multiple city
density and size, picking just one is slow brained.
@@Osamabr alot of people are picking only one and that sht is mind boggling considering this is rockstars biggest project yet cost and development wise lmaooo
I feel like Rockstar has no excuse to have any compromise with GTA VI whether its regarding Map or anything else, this is gonna be their first GTA game in 12 years at least, and since then they have released only one Game RDR2, They better not disappoint, we NEED huge and Dense and Diverse Map
If the game is gonna launch 12 whole fucking years after GTA 5, the map better be ginormous and have 12 years of dev work worth of content
No way they worked on it for 12 years. They had all their studios working on RDR2 they must've started around 2018.
@@TheyWantMeGone69 they literally started work on GTA 6 in late 2013, there’s actual proof in leaks, you don’t know what you’re talking about
@@KickTheBabyKAF Proof in what leaks?
@@TheyWantMeGone69 just stop, bum
@@KickTheBabyKAFthey started in early 2017.
Quality > quantity
2:50 The whole thing about North Yankton being a whole city that they built for 2 missions isn't entirely true, it may seem like its a large city but in reality anything off the main roads taken in the missions is very unfinished, that is why you mission fail on prologue and bury the hatchet if you leave the road.
I remember this channel because of memes and gags when a new update came out. What you did here is near a perfectly video analysis of a serious topic for gta. The video is so well edited and you can feel the love and work put into this. Huge work you did here MMI!❤
Acessible interiors are a must, for me. I started playing GTA IV and it's cool that we can enter some places. It makes the city feel bigger without the need of extending the map.
Simply yes, because if we're going to be here for the next 10, likely 15 years until the next game- I'd rather it be as big as possible for the most possible fun and experiences to be had. Not only just for me and my friends to play and goof around, but online content creators that will be here for the next decade plus making videos.
You seem to think that the bigger map is directly equal to more fun, and that's just not true
It doesn’t necessarily NEED a big map: but GTA VII probably won’t be released until late 2040s so it’ll be good to have a large map to explore during the wait time.
This is what im saying lol, if they gonna keep us waiting until 2045 for GTA7, we better have a lot to do until then
The production value of your videos is unmatched. Amazing job. 👏 👏 👏
The quality of this video is insane!
ITS BEEN ONE MONTH SINCE THE LAST MEME VIDEO
Yo where did you get your pfp from?
Me personally i hate big maps especially when you have to go from one side to the other
Call a taxi
So you waited ten years just for a small map?😳
@@richardnester7203 you cant call taxis during missions
@@IsaacLuna-hl3dd no i waited 10 years for a detailed map with reasonable map proportions
I don't get it? That's what make the game more depth and fun??
finished watching the video
And what?
So you finished a 10 minute video in 6 minutes? Ah yes
Same.
Even if GTA 6 has only 80 or 70% of the square area that GTA 5 did, if they make it just 50% more dense overall with detail it will be worth it
I believe that The Crew Motorfest has proven that we DO need a big map.
ps3 and 360, not xbox one!
