I own a Sinn 104 and a damasko da34. And I would surely go for the damasko given that I don't have to worry about getting it scratched especially in the fast paced work environment.
I will go for both. One as everyday wear tool watch, as for Sinn I'll wear it as an evening night out watch. Both are just as stunning and manly. A great video with systematic comparison. Straight to the point. 👍👍👍
I would go for the Sinn, based on it being more versatile and having a more unique design. I think the Damasko design is found in many watches, including Timex, so it doesn't stand out for me. Engineering wise, both are fantastic pieces.
Owning both of these models, I totally agree with your assessment with the slight edge to Damasko for the hardened case. Upmarket, Sinn do offer the same equal quality metal tech.
I own a 104 and a DA44, they are both beautiful watches, more tech and durability with the Damasko but the Sinn is a beautiful watch and the white dial is exquisite. I also have a Sinn U50 and a Damasko DS30, so i am a bit of a fanboy :)
I think for your 'Movement' category the Sinn should have come ahead by 1 or 2 points due to the accuracy you mentioned, making this either a tie or giving the Sinn a very narrow win. I have the Sinn on the fine link bracelet they offer, and while it may be a finger print magnet it does look great in sunlight. Nice comparison, but just on looks I favor the Sinn, which is why I purchased it.
So to sum up: Both are good watches, and a consumer could easily be happy with either. Both have technical advantages. But the Damasko is more toolish by design, whereas the Sinn is deliberately dressier and more intended for mixed use. Ratings aside, consumer preference is most likely to depend on an individual’s use-case. (Rather than on which company tends to include a nicer strap, or whether a hardened case on the Damasko is “better” than more water resistance on the Sinn, or vice versa.)
I feel the Sinn 104 is the one I would go with, due mainly to its versatility and understated elegance. The Damasko bead blasted case and large Arabic’s doesn’t work for me IMO.
Nah… more like something in a clear box in aisle 12 at Home Depot. And that’s exactly why it’s my beater, the modern “…still keep on ticking” (digital excluded, of course:).
Thanks for your comment. While the Sinn is anecdotally keeping better time than the Damasko, I have not measured this with precision (on a Timegrapher). Any watch-maker could regulate these watches to preform much better. However, the base design/durability and function (day/date, beat rate, power reserve, etc.) is the same. After owning dozens of watches with these movements, I find they operate on par with each other, and the timing out-of-the-box may differ from watch to watch. Cheers.
@@WhatIsItReallyAbout I think that is according to the performance of his timepieces. However, with regards to the movement, SW220 and ETA 2836-2 are clone movements therefore they would be equal according to performance.
Sinn uses a top grade movement, and factory regulates to try to obtain COSC equivalent performance. That’s why reviewer had anecdotal experience of spot-on time keeping with the Sinn. Damasco uses a less expensive grade of equivalent movement, and does not factory regulate to the same degree. Whether any of that really “matters” is up to individual preference. But if “performance” is referring to movement accuracy, then you’re more likely to get more accuracy out of the box with Sinn, because they’re spending more on a higher grade movement and on regulating it in the factory.
Case/design can’t be compared. If you prefer durability and longevity, then Damasko. If you prefer look when new, but will aged with scratches, then Sinn.
The movement on the Sinn is fantastic. For me 8 or 9 seconds a day is too much. 1 minute a week is just getting to a point where a watch is useless on time keeping....
Who convinced you, that this Sinn isn't an ugly watch. I know It has a following, because it is cheap; I mean entry level. Sell it and get the DA-4 bracelet. Best, D. p.s. 1 pt. apart?
Bought a DA 46 last year with blue second hand, absolutely stunning piece can’t recommend Damasko enough 👍🏻

Damasko for the tool watch aesthetic, but the Sinn is more versatile as an everyday wear... just my 2 cents

Thanks for your insight on the comparison 👍
Have 3 104s so you know where I come down. Great watch.!!👍🍷
I'm more of a damasko guy in general, but in this comparison I prefer the sinn. It's an interesting looking watch.
2 of my favorite brands. Great to see a side by side of these ones.
The ice-hardened case of the Damasko makes it the winner for me! I wouldn’t kick the Sinn out of bed, but the Damasko is the one I would buy.

Good review! I think the Damasko is more of an alternative to the Sinn 857.
That's a good point, thanks for the feedback 👌

I appreciate your take on these watches. The Sinn does have a lot of elegance 👍
Totally agree with your assessment and I'd pick the Damasko as well, but would be quite happy with either
Thanks for the feedback bro👍
I've got a Damasko da44 and a Sinn 104 like yours. This should be interesting.
Thanks for this !!
Both have contrast, but (and this is an opinion) the Sinn looks like a classic. The Damasko looks a bit like something under the glass at Belks.

Sinn! Overall, it looks better and more versatile.
How can you give the movements equal score when one was performing SIGNIFICANTLY better than the other?

The Damasko quantitatively has the better case. What you are saying is that you prefer a brushed case, which is fine.
DA47 absolutely murders the sinn the sinn is more for cocktail time the DA47 is more for Rambo
Sinn is more versatile, damasko compares more to the more expensive sinn’s
Does it have a fast date change on both
Yes, both watches have a fast date turn-over at midnight. Cheers
@@EverydayWatchGuy that’s awesome thanks
Both look great but I would go for the Sinn.
Thanks

Hello, can you introduce Damasko DSub1?
If I can get my hands on one, I will 👍

"Cheap and entry level".... for watch snobs maybe.
