Start by saying "AH" and holding it as a tone, like you're singing, then use your tongue as described above, pressing it against the roof of the mouth behind the teeth. LaLaLaLaLa. The "R" sound uses a completely different mouth and tongue positions, which is why it can be very hard to grasp for non-English speakers. And Liverputians.
