Hello! Thank you very much for the very informative video. Not a lot of info on this procedure to be found! I've noticed that the subframe on my 2004 9-3 2.0t Aero looks a bit different with another bracket on the rear side of it. Do you maybe know if I can also drop the subframe without removing the engine on the B207R engine model? Thank you very much! p.s. Do you happen to have another video on the rear subframe? :)
Great video as always. How much would this job cost to remove and replace in your home province of Quebec? I was able to find esaab parts is currently selling the subframe on sale for 302 US. This appears to be a common issue in in Saab 9-3's in snow and salt road areas of the country. I have seen 2 go on sale in my area with the same issue of a rustry subframe and can't pass inspection. Thanks and keep the videos coming. If you can't quote numbers - just quote hours for the job and we can figure it out.
I'm stoked to have found your channel, thanks for the video. Are near Montreal? Where did you buy the subframe from. I salvaged one from Vermont for my 06 Aero SC, anything in the scrap yards in Quebec are rusted through/ swiss cheese. I need to do this on my 05 93 Linear. It's rusted through at the AC condensate drip spot on the passenger side.
Do you have any information on how to replace the entire 2.8 engine? I've heard from the saab community that you can remove it by dropping the subframe with it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
@saabmastertech5852 Is the WIS for powertrain removal pretty accurate? I'm just a bit cautious because I've never removed an engine before 😅, but I'm willing to give it a shot because my motor is blown anyways. And so far your videos among other have been really helpful. Your videos helped me fix so much wrong with the car. It's just too bad the head gasket blew and maybe even cracked the block 😞. But at least the frame is solid, and has all new suspension lol.
Please , if you have chance one day - make same with rear subframe . Thank you for video ! P.S. Do you support engine from top before removing subframe ?
The motor is held by right side engine mount & left side transmission mount. You don't have to stay under the engine after removing the subframe. If you are not sure if the engine & transmission mount are not strong enough, support the engine with a beam.
È una saab usata a Montreal, Canada, dove le strade sono in pessime condizioni, così come le auto! a causa delle quantità assurde di SALE che utilizzano durante l'inverno per sciogliere il ghiaccio e la neve...
@@tomcom4 I suppose the workaround is extending the drip pipe so it goes directly to the ground instead? I bought my 93 like this and planning to replace the subframe but I don't want it to happen all over again....wondering what everyone is doing to remedy the original design flaw?
Thanks for this! Just finished the job and was able to go at it with confidence because of your video
Great job!👍
It just passed its test now 🙏🏼 @@saabmastertech5852
Would like to see you do a rear subfram.thanks

3 to 4 hours & add 1.5 hours, if it is XWD.

Yes, it is hard to find good subframe here in Quebec. Thanks for sharing.
The best!
Thanks!😃👍
Hello, great video. Is this subframe for a convertible? I am looking for a subframe for my 2010 Saab 9-3, do you know how I can procure one?
No, it is not for convertible. Check at esaabparts with the serial number of the car.
@@saabmastertech5852 tried, couldn’t find anything.

You can find detailed info on SAAB WIS Online. Power train removal.

just remove all of the engine mounts and drop the subframe with the whole engine, holding it from above
Good Man!
Thanks!

It is better, you support the engine from the top & tie the radiators with a strap.
Thanks for the great video. Is it in this case, you didn’t support the engine from the top?
Hi is the motor just hang by it self after you have taken it off?

Ma ha fatto a marcire così ? La mia SAAB 9000 del 95 iniezione è perfetta sotto 😮

@@nazarin ok ora si capisce perché .la mia è in Italia e non c'è tutto questo inconveniente 👍
Shame on the Saab owner, to leave the car root like that.
The AC drips on that part of the subframe, it's a design flaw known by Saab enthusiasts (and north east winters do not help).
@@tomcom4 that is 18 years of neglect

Soaked whole of subframe and underbody in Waxoyl and Bilt Hamber cavity wax - inside subframe so this doesn’t happen 🙏
