Looks like the mount I made for the F722-WPX should work for this one too, both are 44mmx29mm plate size. I tend to check the Matek "new items" page about every other week and saw this F405-WSE pop up, nice to see the smaller size, same UARTS/PWM outs and then detached USB!
The 405-WSE has my attention, as similar width to 411-WSE, but has black-box SD, and USB-C. The extra UART will be nice to run DJI with crossfire (without soft serial). Seems to be good balance features, for most common needs in small package.
I think it should also be mentioned that the F405 wing original is one of the noisiest FC boards on the market and cannot be used for long range flying on the 433 band.
The F405-WSE is a much quieter board and is great!

This is the reason I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of one F405-WSE to replace F765 because of too much nose in 433mhz, lowering 100 fold DragonLink range.
Hi, which one would be the best for long range fpv flying to put on an old skywalker 1900, if using dragon link 433 band? I´m about to buy one of these F405 wse but get confused now...

@@AndrewNewton If the sound bothers you I have found the Marlin firmware 1.1.9 quieter than the absolutely ancient versions that shipped two years ago. You could also try TL-Smoother boards as those quiet the stepper motor drivers right down.

Andrew in the vid you mentioned that there is only one camera and if needed you can put a external switch operated by PWM could you explain how this is done as I one of these boards and want to do a front and rear facing set up??

The F411 can't run Arduplane due to not enough flash, while the F405 boards can run Arduplane.
Wing Second Edition or Special Edition. Decide how many PWM outputs and UARTs you need and choose accordingly.
Hi Andrew. I have a f-405 wing that I re flashed with inav 2.6.1 and dual motor is on ..... motor 1 and s7....I'm super confused now.....any insight would be very appreciated....thanks

Good and informative video as usual. Do you (or anyone else seeing this post) have issues with the current sensor on the 405 WSE board ? I have a couple of these and the current reading is completly off stock and calibration is not possible since when calibrated on 50% throttle its way off at 25% or 75% and vice versa....

Are you using the recommended Arduplane current and voltage scales (on the product page)
@@AndrewNewton Hmm, not sure, I'm using it stock and realized it's off, tried to calibrate and do not get it right.

Update: Found the issue, scales were fine, but it was due to ESC noise, sorted with changed khz settings in the BlHeli_32 fw
Would you suggest this or the F411 WSE for using a DJI setup in the Nano Goblin?
I don't have one but use DJI on wings. I found with F411 series even with 2 uarts and 2 softserial that with Inav I couldn't have everything I wanted - GPS, DJI Camera/vtx, R9, R9 telemetry. It was tight on uarts. I think you'd be fine if you used both the DJI Camera/VTX and controller, or don't want telemetry. I could be wrong.
In theory both would work, but easier and more flexibility with connections using this one.
Any issue running off of VBAT? I only need UARTs for GPS and SBUS for Crossfire.
@@SnowbirdSteeze I run off vbat using the smaller caddx air unit. Rated to 6s but only run 4S. I don't know what the full size air unit is rated to - 4s I think.

On the Matek f405w board, the matek GPS M8Q-5883 is connected to its SH1.0_6pin connector (4V5 / G / TX4 / RX4 / DA2 / CL2) will the AP Mission Planner recognize this GPS, what should I do to achieve it (firmware Matekf405Wing )?

If you connect only one GPS to UART4 (TX4 / RX4), set SERIAL3_PROTOCOL -1 or not “5”. otherwise, ArduPilot will stop searching for GPS during startup if it is not found on the first port (Serial3) configured for the GPS protocol.
And unplug the board from Mission Planner, unplug the board from the USB port if you have it connected to your PC. Reconnect the board to the USB, run Mission Planner plug and voala !!!!!

I´m about to buy this FC and put it on my skywalker 1900 long range FPV plane. I´ll be using Dragon link 433MHz system and 1.2GHz video transmitter.
Inicially I think I´ll be running ARDUPLANE firmware, not INAV.
Do you know which port are the correct ones to connect this FC to dragon link receiver to get Telemetry data and send it to the ground station?
Assuming this FC has NO RTS/CTS, seems that dragon link receiver has to be connected (according to dragon link manual) using its UEXP port connection to flight controller...
Here comes my doubt...
Which Tx and Rx port on the F405WSE are the correct ones to send flight telemetry to dragon link receiver?
Tx2 and Rx2? Tx3 and Rx3? Tx5 and Rx5? Tx6 and Rx6? Ground wire from DL receiver can be connected to any ground pin or must be one in particular?
Seems that Tx2 and Rx2 are the correct ones, but need confirmation... Didn´t find out this information on mateksys manual neither on Dragon link...

Hi Andrew, this is a great little FCB with lots of good improvements but I was not too happy that they left off the top board. I felt that this leaves the power connections unprotected and at risk of shorting out if a metallic object happens to fall on them. I designed and 3D printed a cover plate which is on www.thingiverse.com/thing:4750446.
