My husband and I camped camped spring, summer and fall for many years spending over 2 months total over those season's. We used the 8 person Coleman instant rent with added rain fly. We purchased it the first year they were sold. Had to wait a couple of years til they made the rain fly. My husband passed away 15 months ago. I'm 73 and l still ove tent camping so I bought the 4 person Coleman instant tent and rain fly and love it. I do have a love hate relationship when it's time to pack it up and get it back in the bag. Lol So far I haven't had to open the seam to allow it to expand. Lol Camping at our favorite campground is my happy place and trying my best to make new memories to add too those with my dear husband. In Oct last year I went by myself in my small dome 3 person tent and found out real quick sleeping on the ground and crawling in and out of the tent wasn't as much fun.lol So The Coldman 4 person instant tent was ordered as soon as I returned home. Plus a cot!
@bonniesaugh5279 first off I am sorry to hear about your husband. I am glad you enjoy the tent! It really is the perfect size for one or two people. A cot is a must anymore for me as well.
I was a BSA scout master for 7 years and this was my go to tent. We camped every month, sometimes twice a month, so it saw a lot of use, and never leaked or failed me. Its fast and sturdy. Only problem with the 4 is you can’t stand all the way up to get dressed. If that’s an issue, go for the 6.
Thanks for the comment. I absolutely love this tent. Summer I use a different smaller tent that packs up smaller but here in the fall/winter/spring it works absolutely fantastic for the diesel heater I have. What’s funny is you know how I said I got it used? Well I bought it from a Scout master…..and the gentleman gave me the 6 person person one to go along with it. I couldn’t believe it and felt like I won the lottery! I’ve since gave the 6 person to a friend that needed a tent to kinda pay it forward.
Great review! I bought one of these tents a couple of years ago and did one trip with it. I enjoyed it very much! I put a tarp over the top with a couple of poles instead of the rainfly. The rain fly does not look like it covers very much and is too expensive, but with a 10x10 tarp, there is plenty of room to spare. We set up our camp chairs out the front and used the tarp as a porch. It is a much better system I think if you take the time to guy out the tarp properly. I plan to take it on solo trips soon because there is plenty of room to fit my cot and some tables in it. The price has jumped up quite a bit on Amazon since I purchased mine. For the price I paid, it was well worth it. Cheers.
It's kinda rare YT recommends me a complete gem, but this was without a slightest doubt one of those rare occasions! I became an instant fan of yours and Ted's! What a trip, I feel relaxed just watching you two buds having the best time!
I have this tent and it's great, you cant go wrong with this one, it is sealed on the sewing stitches so no water leaks. You can surely fit 4 people there it's no a hotel room it's a tent, but for a single person or a couple with child this tent would be very ideal.
No vestibule at all. I have not had a problem with it leaking even in driving rain. The fly does hang off the side of the tent enough I think to not let the rain hit the sides.
Thank you! I do not have a video on my diesel heater as of yet, but with it getting closer to cooler weather I will be doing one on it. It is a 5k all in one is that what you where looking for? If not ask a couple questions and I’ll try to answer them.
@padude131 ok I wasn’t sure what you wanted. So your best bet is to UA-cam them and understand how they operate. That should answer most of your questions.
I've watched enough tent review videos to realize that when the person count basically means sleeping bags and sleeping like you're a lion in a pride or a den/pack of wolves lol. Tight and close knit.
That is a good idea! I have seen an updated version of this tent and they've put windows on all sides now so no more in tent movies! Booooo! Thank you for the comment!
hey mate, have you tested this tent in much rain at all? the only thing keeping me from buying this tent atm is the waterproofing and rain protection. thanks
I would buy the rain fly. There’s a piece of fabric in the center of the rent roof that gets tied to frame. If that isn’t tied tight to the frame it creates a divot for water to settle in and leaks through there. Other then that no leaks for me but I’d get the fly just to be safe. I always use mine I never have had a problem. Hope this helps it’s a really good tent.
I got an outbound six man fur 139$ Cdn. Basically identical but 10'x9' x6' tall inside. The top has mesh that provides great ventilating. Made by woods.
No. Make sure you get the 4 man rainfly for it there different. Lemme know how you like it when you get it! I think you’ll enjoy the tent. Leave a comment on here when you spend a night or two in it.
Besides the vent (vents?), I don't see any screen mesh on the roof. Does the rain fly really provide any useful service? Or is the tent just as rain-proof without it? Does the fly give enough coverage to allow you to crack the windows for extra ventilation without letting rain in?
There is no mesh oh the roof. I personally have not had it out in the rain but I do know of people that have and they have said that the fly really does keep the rain out better then without. The fly also has plenty of room to go around the windows. Thanks for the questions!
The tent will do fine keeping water out without the rain fly, the problem is condensation. Coleman released the added rainfly so during rain you could unzip some windows to allow for proper ventilation. The rainfly is essential in my eyes.

Well thank you! Yeah I love that tent. I use it mainly in the winter because it works really good with my heater.
It's kinda rare YT recommends me a complete gem, but this was without a slightest doubt one of those rare occasions! I became an instant fan of yours and Ted's! What a trip, I feel relaxed just watching you two buds having the best time!
Ummm thanks……I think you’ve made a comment on the wrong video. But to whoever Ted is good on him sounds like it was a great video lol
I got the 6p version for Christmas. My husband is building a 9x12 platform for it. Can't wait to use it. Thanks for the video.
I had the 6 person as well and it is also a very nice tent and just as easy to setup! Thanks for the comment!

Thank you so much, I just wanted to know how to packdown and you did it perfect.
Your welcome glad to help!
Nice looks like a perfect tent for just myself which is what im looking for
It works really well for one person that is for sure. Thanks for the comment.
Finally a tent that actually does take under 2 mins
Yeah it’s really simple I was surprised as well how quick it setup.
Excellent content, great video
Thank you!
Since the rain fly doesn't cover much of the sides, how resistant are the walls to a driving rain? And is there a vestibule?
No vestibule at all. I have not had a problem with it leaking even in driving rain. The fly does hang off the side of the tent enough I think to not let the rain hit the sides.
4 people side lying fitted like sardines in a can. Hehe
Your correct, 2 person.... I use a 6 person tent and with a full air mattress. It is what I use for just me. And works good for 1 person.
Yeah it works great for one for sure.
Can the 6 person fit 2 twin beds?
I don’t think it would fit 2 twin air mattresses with out pushing sides out. But I’ve only used one full or queen and it’s tight

You mention a diesel heater that you use in this tent. Do you have a video of that heater? Im looking at this tent. Great video!

The only thing I can think of is are they safe in a tent? Do you need a chimney with it?

This one would be REALLY tight for four that’s for sure!
Maybe there is no window on the back so you can use that area as a screen to project movies...just a
🤔 thought

Tie a knot on the guys either side of the front door? you will always know where to start and which way around the fly is.
Thanks for the video.
Quick question: Is there a big difference in Quality between this one and the Pop Up tent ?
What pop up tent are you referring to?
hey mate, have you tested this tent in much rain at all? the only thing keeping me from buying this tent atm is the waterproofing and rain protection. thanks

My 4-man Coleman tent center bracket broke 😲 Hate when that happens 😋
Really??!!!! Those things seem like there pretty tough! Where you jumping on it?? Lol
So you have the 6 man rainfly then? I ordered this tent yesterday but didn't get the rainfly yet.
No. Make sure you get the 4 man rainfly for it there different. Lemme know how you like it when you get it! I think you’ll enjoy the tent. Leave a comment on here when you spend a night or two in it.
@@miventure9625 ok thanks!

The tent does condensate if not vented that is for sure. It’s pretty darn air tight for tent.
Is the mesh a "no-see-um" mesh?
Yes it seems to be. It’s definitely tight enough woven to be that for sure.
I don't know why they have so Many windows..! Lol bird watching in the rain.?
I drink a lot of beer when I go camping, the windows are great for venting all the beer farts out of the tent.
Tent are pretty expensive, just bought the 9 man Hampton cabin tent for $210 on clearance, its 10x14ft
colman?
