It's nice to have smaller lore videos of BattleTech content because other content creators are great, but I don't always have two hours to listen to a Tex's documentaries about Battletech. They should have named it Jaws for it's autocannons big gaping bore.
Your content is always a joy to watch in the morning. It has helped bring a lot of the more obscure sides of Battletech to my attention and those post-TRO segments where you mention game uses for these mechs and vehicles is inspiring to hear.
Hello CR. Yeah, the Garm. Definitely NOT a 'pretty' Mech, but not half bad when you look at its specs. I was 'forced' to use a double Lance of these as the Defending Davion commander for a Raid mission. The Op-For was NOT happy with me when I would place them in forested terrain and slowly back up while raining LRMs down upon their heads. Since I was 'forced' to use them, I got to, at least, choose which variant(s) I wanted to field. So, I took all of them as the Lrg Laser variant. Eight LRM-10s raining down for multiple turns at nearly the edge of their range upon the Enemy didn't make me any friends. This 'sandpapered' the opposing force enough that when the LRM ammo was nearly gone, I reversed and moved forwards into the Large Laser's range bracket. At this point, I was subject to any PPCs and other longer ranged weapons from the Enemy, but, by that point, I had seriously whittled down the Op-For's forces. So, I was able to, pretty much, concentrate fire upon the few remaining Enemy units with longer ranged weaponry. Once I had 'disposed' of them, the rest were basically 'target practice' for the Lasers. Believe me, raining 80 missiles a Turn upon an advancing enemy ruins his day. And that does not count the pair of heavy tanks I had, adding to the woes of the opponet. In the end, I took out a Company sized unit with 8 Garms and a couple of tanks. Yes, I 'lost' 3 Garms in the process, but the outcome speaks for itself. As for the TRO artwork of the Mech. Yeah, laughable. That 'main gun' is WAY too large for the apparent scale, and the legs are far too 'thin' to be real, working, Mech legs. I do wish there was a 'modern' version of this artwork. It would be SO much better!
It needs to be decided by the Battletech community as to which four inner sphere 'mechs are the ugliest and then demand Catalyst make a special boxed set of them with updated art and mini sculpts :D
Gram, the guardian of Hel, he who eats the cowardly to such an extent his mouth and chest is constantly dripping blood, the slayer of Tyr the god of war in the Ragnarok...lb5
Looks like it’s carrying a keg on it’s shoulder. Team this up with the Jackal to dispense rice and beer to desert communities who need a drink and a laugh.
This was the moment went the Davion fetish for autocannons went too far. The laser variant can outgun other light mechs at range but overheats too quickly.
*Look at mini* Someone trying to replace the Hunchback? no... Even then, that is like a mortar, not a gun, it is too short and too wide to be... LBX5?!?! what? I give up.
Maybe if they'd lengthen the barrel some and then made the aperture smaller, then yeah, sure I'd give it a go. As it is now, it definitely looks like a baby Hunchback.
I feel the variant would be more popular with mercenaries. More armor, less need of ammo and Artemis for the missiles sounds better for a command that can't always secure supplies.
It's in that so bad its good looks department. I laugh at it, but would jump at the chance for my character to own one and act like it is the best battlemech ever created.
When you try to fit the weapons of a 50 or 55 tonner on a 35 tonner sacrifices have to be made ........ Too many in this case . The Variant is less bad though
If it's REALLY "small" then the shoulder cannon is kinda of close...ish...maybe a space for cooling? But yea...it looks WEIRD...still better than the crap PGI & CATALYST has shoved out that look like robots with GEARS and NOT MYOMER THAT BATTLEMECHS use.
its a tiny hunchback. A half dozen of these things would be terrifying.
I was listening without watching to this and I was thinking, “oh it can’t be that ba- ahh!”
As long as you enjoy doing these videos , we will enjoy watching them . Thanks .

Thanks Malcalore :)
9:38 we are here to listen to the dulcet tones of your voice while waiting for old Jimmy to make a reappearance 😊.

I kind of don't mind the Rambaling; it's one of the things that makes your channel unique. As for the mech, still looks better then the Hollander.

Now with arms
This is why we Capellans started winning again , we've got great mechs in this era 😂
Technical Readout 3060 AKA Glorious Liao advancement of technology and armoured vehicle design.

All the weapons on it's primary use ammunition, so totally a powder keg!
Looks like a vindicator with a different arm😊
Off to the reeducation camp for you .
5:52 oh absolutely. oh come on Rocket it's scaled for the size of the chassis 🙂.

Always look forward to your vids, always entertaining
*Look at mini* Someone trying to replace the Hunchback? no... Even then, that is like a mortar, not a gun, it is too short and too wide to be...

Maybe they purposely gave the autocannon an oversized housing for intimidation.
God, guns, and Battletech. Best in clas. Go ahead and make a Best in class video to prove me wrong...I just really like that sires.
Plans are afoot to get the next episode out this month.

I agree mercs would appreciate a light that needs less money burning ammo and better engagement range anyway for their lights if they can help it.
If Stephen Huda turned the Thunder into something better looking with his Lightning artwork a better Garm could be done
Completely agree, every ugly 'mech from the TRO's can be improved by a new artist with a fresh eye.
It should have a RAC 5.
A lance that loses this mech in the fighting? Disgarmed.
*Buh Dum Tish*
What big teeth you have? Is that an AC20, or are you just glad to see me?
I'm not going to lie I think it looks kind of neat
It's in that so bad its good looks department. I laugh at it, but would jump at the chance for my character to own one and act like it is the best battlemech ever created.
Definitely that's a mech someone owns and makes it their whole personality
Well it's not the Herbal Mech, but nothing is 😂
haha
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRREEEEE!!!!!!
I thought it was scaled for size...i mean the hollander is just a gauss rifle with legs lol
When you try to fit the weapons of a 50 or 55 tonner on a 35 tonner sacrifices have to be made ........ Too many in this case . The Variant is less bad though
I can appreciate the in universe idea and it would be great as a fodder enemy light to use in scenario's for players to come up against.
Very large bore
