Appreciate all that you do Don. With your advice, along with info I've gathered elsewhere, I received an offer after passing 3 rounds of interviews. Thank you, all the best!

If you make it to the finals, then you close the sale by 1) being likeable, 2) make no unforced errors, 3) tell the the future boss that you will make their work life easier because you get things done.

'practice answering in a variety of ways.' this is great advice!!! develops comfort with the topic instead of having 'an answer'.

Giving a lead to their expectations definitely shows them how concerned we are about the concern. A homework before interview without blindly memorising will see us through.
Sir I hope I have understood this splendid message of yours.
    Thank you!

Im with you...out of work soon 3 months, savings drained and nothing but job rejections. By end of week I will know about the last 2 I interviewed for.....if they fail then I will have to resort to a temp agency so Im checking email 20 times an hour in anticipation.....Id like to add that I have implemented many of the tactics that George suggests and I interview really well...
I hope yours goes well and you land the role.....

I was unemployed for almost a year by choice due to my mom being diagnosed with terminal cancer. I resigned a job paying $65,000 a year and it was the first time I had resigned anything. I'm in my 50s and I had savings and a side gig to sustain me through a planned period. When it was time to go back, I couldn't get my old position back and my job search got extended. It got to the point where I had to get to work and I took a job that has more responsibilities than my last position but only pays $48,000. It's a non-profit company and I was thinking they would see what all i could do and then I could hopefully get my salary raised in 3 months. I checked the median salary for my position and the middle of the road number is $25,000 more than what I was offered. That extra $1000 a month I was making before was what I was putting a good chunk of into my 401K retirement account. The insurance here has a $2500 deductible and they only match 2% of which I can't really afford to put much into without cutting into living expenses. I've already downgraded my car. I don't want to downgrade the house. I am really frustrated.
It's a nice place to work and mostly nice people. I have a good boss and can work from home 2 days a week. I do feel undervalued, but at the same time, I know I am the one that said YES to their offer instead of negotiating it from the beginning. Like I said, I really needed to get back to work. I'm getting too old to mismanage my career. Any advice?

The best time to look for a new/better job is while you're still employed - although it can be challenging to schedule interviews etc during the middle of the workday, you can make it happen.

Made it through 3 rounds of interviews for a senior-level position I really want, last round took place almost 4 weeks ago (all phone and zoom thus far). All seemed to go exceedingly well up to this point with everyone I spoke with. At one point It was mentioned that the final would be in-person with the President of the division, which has yet to happen, so I expected one more round at least.
I also noticed the position was still being promoted online throughout my interview process, and while I haven't checked in a couple weeks, I looked today and the position is no longer posted. I sent follow-up emails to both the recruiter and the hiring manager earlier this week, letting them know I was still very interested in the job. While it's only been a couple days, I have not heard anything back.
I've sat on the other side of the interview desk in my career, and I know the wheels can turn a bit slowly in a larger company - however, I also feel like the communication has come to a screeching halt, and in my experience long silence is not a great sign as they have to assume I would be continuing to apply & interview with others.
Am I reading too much into the silence? Should I reach out again at some point and if so, when? Open to input from any and all with experience here, it's been awhile since I went through the multi-round interview process, thanks!

Some of us got 2 final round interviews in the past two months after waiting/communicating intermittently with HR across a 3-month span from the first interview. I got a no from both. It's hard out there now folks.

What do you think about bringing a notebook to an interview, taking notes, having notes?
