I'm in my 60's. I grew up with LZ. I saw them live in 1977. JPJ played a twenty minute piano solo to No Quarter. All of us older folks that grew up with LZ know how great JPJ is. These guys just absolutely own arena rock, a la foo fighters. Yes, their time had come long before, but you can tell they feel absolutely at home rocking out in front of upwards of 100,000 people - they've done it many times before.
I love the Foo Fighters but Dave can't do this song justice on the vocals, but his passion and energy makes up for any short comings. I think thats what makes Dave a great vocalist. His puts his heart and soul into every song.

It’s his own interpretation of the vocals. He’s not trying to mimic Robert Plant because obviously his voice is too different to try do that. He’s just putting his own metal spin on it. Although I’ll always like the original song better, I like this version. I think it works very well.

Soooo glad to see Jimmy Page and JPJ get to play a show and an audience like that. They've well earned it 1,000x !
There is ONLY one bass player on this earth that can play this with any credibility. JPJ.
Props to Taylor for having the balls to play a Zeppelin song on stage with the legends, in a packed arena. I would've been shitting bricks
😂😂😂😂😂😂
He probably was. He was a nervous wreck everytime the Foos did a concert...he said so himself !
Packed stadium!
It's sad that Taylor is gone but seeing this performance makes me glad that he got the chance to play with these legends. You can see how happy he was.
Historical event ... Historical footage... Thanks Foo fighters!
A big thank you to the Foo Fighters for keeping rock alive!
They could have just played Zep tunes the whole night! They have a big catalog of great tunes!
This was special!
👏🏻🎸😎
That bass is magical. JPJ has a hauntingly beautiful soul. Goosebumps of jam session.
That Les Paul is incredible and even if Jiimmy is not in practice, he still makes that guitar sound great and John Paul Jones is allways spectacular!
JPJ and Jimmy tearing it up 40 years later, hell yeah!
Fucking amazing…what an honor it must be to play along Jimmy Paige…just awesome
the G.O.A.T>!
Oh maaaan, I’ve seen this like 7-9 years ago somewhere on the internet in shitty quality and it made me fall in love with Led Zeppelin, then I couldn’t find this footage for years. Thanks for uploading, it brings me memories of jamming to this on my small amp in my bedroom! Daaamn
Kamil Podworski we should be friends
This is good, but shit compared to Zeppelin live
I fell in love with Led Zeppelin in 1982 after my sister took me to see Song Remains the Same in the theater. Check out How the West Was Won DVD
Same with me, I had the MP3 of this video downloaded and used to play alot on Winamp back in 2009
@@c3011-z4c winamp winamp winamp.. it really whips the lamas ass
Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band to ever walk the earth. That’s a scientific fact. The only thing that still remains, is foo magic. Thanks so much.
Some of the greatest rock music ever written, from the greatest rock album ever produced. Led Zeppelin 2.
Jonesy is one of the best ever. This bass line is iconic.
Such an honor for Dave and Taylor to perform with 2 legends. R.I.P. Taylor 💖
That simple look between John Paul Jones, & Jimmy Page, = they just know never will anybody be as good as Zeppelin.
Ramble On has got to be one of the most insanely cool songs of all time! Eternal.
We're all gonna miss you bad, Taylor. Rock on man.
JPJ's bass still rolls along like a gentle world of curves.
what an amazing life dave gets to live. from the drummer in nirvana, all the way to playing live in england with the remaining musical legends from led zeppelin.....
You know you made it when you get to jam live w Jpj and jimmy page
Nice to see John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page together again. The architects of Led Zeppelin
Such joy on their faces. John Paul Jones is a God!
I clicked on this link because it said it was Foo Fighters playing Ramble On, and I thought; "that's interesting."
And the video starts and I find
IT'S 50/50 LED ZEP AND THE FOOS!!!
Ffs man!!!!
Incredible!!!
JPJ is one of the best bassist in rock... him and Geddy Lee... freaking awesome!
And Chris Squire
@@martinhayward4466
Agreed. Jack Bruce and John Entwistle too!
@@Dodger2879 Definitely yes as well
The Ox was the GOAT
Still finding it difficult with the news about the death of one of the greatest living drummers of all time rest easy my friend xx
If the surviving members of Led Zeppelin are happy playing along side of him good on him. I loved the way that he smiled at Jimmy at various times. People who are so happy playing music.
I’m here 2024 because I needed to see real musicians play real music using actual instruments. Talent at its finest.
These guys just absolutely own arena rock, a la foo fighters. Yes, their time had come long before, but you can tell they feel absolutely at home rocking out in front of upwards of 100,000 people - they've done it many times before.
I still get chills when I see Jimmy Page play
I love the Foo Fighters but Dave can't do this song justice on the vocals, but his passion and energy makes up for any short comings. I think thats what makes Dave a great vocalist. His puts his heart and soul into every song.
I can't agree with you anymore about this, Dave is a pretty good FRONTMEN, but he's no ROBERT PLANT and it showed , long live ROBERT PLANT. PEACE BE WITH YOU MY FRIENDS. 🙏 😎😎😎✌✌✌🏴🏴🏴
@@richardyoung7415 Yeah, this is unlistenable.
@@tingdzinkochu yea, well it was probably cool live, just the vibe and energy. Plant has some big shows to fill and Dave is clearly not that type of singer. He did a good job for the situation and with his particular skill set. Cool to see paige and Jones together.
saying he doesn't do this song justice is not fair - robert plant is the gold standard for rock vocals - you don't have to match that.
It’s his own interpretation of the vocals. He’s not trying to mimic Robert Plant because obviously his voice is too different to try do that. He’s just putting his own metal spin on it. Although I’ll always like the original song better, I like this version. I think it works very well.
I love what happens at 3:00..... Dave and Jimmy having fun. And the best of John Paul Jones. One of my favorite videos!
That little smile that Dave & Jimmy share at 1:45 - beautiful.
Forgot the words....smh
Really sublime to hear this sacred song again! That litling base, that frolicking guitar, just magic!
"Foo doing Zeppelin?" jeeze, ok, I'll have a look, but I saw Led Zep in the early '70s, 5 rows back, and no way these guys will....hey wait- who's playing the opening chords, and who's on the bass?....oooh, ok, never mind"
They are all still alive. Heart made Robert Plant cry at the Kennedy center honors.
I have said it all along, just listen to the bass in this and you will realize how important jpj was to led zepp, his playing is amazing
