Thanks Luis! It happens quite often with roosters, they can be very aggressive and inhale the lure. I found coming in thru the gills the best and quickest way to to unhook them!! Thanks for your comment!

Just want to get one fish from the beach in Cabo. I'll be down again next April and I'll stop in with my now 14 year old son and 16 year old daughter. She was 10 months old when she first was there. We will stop in, pick your brain on where to go, get some gear, and make a day of it. Both my kids love to fish and would be thrilled to get a beach fish to relrease. As always, you are my cabo fishing hero! Great video my friend.

Started using your top water lures a little while ago in Punta Chivato area. I'm really excited when I have a fish roll behind one of them but yet to land anything. All the strike seem to have been bigger fish. Big problem though is trying to work the lures right throughout the whole retrieve. Can't keep the pelicans from diving on them even after I stop the retrieve. Last three outings I've had 3 fish roll on the lure and 15+ pelicans and an osprey. Osprey showed me just how sharp the talons are . I was able to release it easier than it released me. I'm throwing 2 & 3 oz killers, needle fish and poppers. Baitcaster reel and a 10' Ugly stick. Looking at the 4 & 5000 Diawa BG for a reel upgrade and then going with the 12' Ugly Stick I've had in storage for years. The Baitrunner is casting 15lb mono really well but and hope to get spooled & respool with 30 or 40 pound braid soon. Not many big fish left here now (netters galore for years) but can't shake the excitement when a big one rolls on a lure of yours.

You bet!! oftentimes I can negative comments about throwing the fish back but in big surf like that, it's the only way to do it and have them survive. Those big waves wash the fish back upon the shore if they don't swim off right away. Thanks!!
Nice Roosters! I was in Punta de Mita just north of Puerto Vallarta a few years back and the Rooster fishery really has see a drop in good, quality sized fish. I assume you are fishing the Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico rather than the pacific side?

I've always been a big believer in "Big Bait, Big Fish"....I know it might not always work, but it sure seemed like it did this time! Those were some seriously sturdy fish man.... If you don't mind me asking, when was this filmed.....and is there a better season for these giant Roosters? Asking for a friend...hahahaha

I will be fishing for large Hatteras Bluefish in N.C. from the surf. I am considering the Ballyhoo XL. Will 25 lb. mono leader be adequate? Do you tie a loop or improved clinch knot to the lure?

Thanks for your comment Mahmoud. Good point about the fish, I release more in my videos than I normally would. I am trying to promote my brand of fishing equipment ( Jansen) and unfortunately people comment in a negative way when I take fish home...... I eat a lot fish but I do however always release small juvenile fish or fish that are poor for consumption. The rooster fish shown in this video are really not good to eat, the meat is very oily and they taste very strong. Also, the rooster fish are not plentiful like they used to be and thats why we are trying to promote catch and release. Thanks for watching and commenting!

En cerritos he tenido las sesiones de pesca desde orilla más memorables de mi vida, aun recuerdo con pena como un gran jurel me robó un cabo killer, no querían tomar nada y no alcanzaba la distancia con otros señuelos, y zas , ataco el cabo killer(que encontré en la pastora de casualidad un día buceando), con la mala suerte de que el bajo estaba dañado por los ataques de la sierras, gran error que no volveré a cometer. Muchas gracias por tus videos, somos muchos los que te seguimos y sueño con volver algún día y obtener tan buenos resultados como tu¡¡¡ pero el maestro es el maestro, gracias por tus videos y buena pesca ¡¡¡¡ de tu gama de productos , cual es el que recomiendas más para los róbalos??

You bet!! oftentimes I can negative comments about throwing the fish back but in big surf like that, it's the only way to do it and have them survive. Those big waves wash the fish back upon the shore if they don't swim off right away. Thanks!!

Nice Roosters! I was in Punta de Mita just north of Puerto Vallarta a few years back and the Rooster fishery really has see a drop in good, quality sized fish. I assume you are fishing the Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico rather than the pacific side?
No, I prefer the Pacific Ocean, this is the Desaladora Beach ,right out of Cabo.

Thanks John!! This was July 17 and 18, both afternoons off the desalplant, about where they are putting in Rancho San Lucas! Best season for the big roosters is usually late May thru June!

I will be fishing for large Hatteras Bluefish in N.C. from the surf. I am considering the Ballyhoo XL. Will 25 lb. mono leader be adequate? Do you tie a loop or improved clinch knot to the lure?
Not sure James, I use 50lb. flouro leaders for my lures, yes I tie them on with a loop knot. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for your comment Mahmoud. Good point about the fish, I release more in my videos than I normally would. I am trying to promote my brand of fishing equipment ( Jansen) and unfortunately people comment in a negative way when I take fish home...... I eat a lot fish but I do however always release small juvenile fish or fish that are poor for consumption. The rooster fish shown in this video are really not good to eat, the meat is very oily and they taste very strong. Also, the rooster fish are not plentiful like they used to be and thats why we are trying to promote catch and release. Thanks for watching and commenting!

A ver cuando cuelgas un tutorial de nudos y grapas, veo que haces un nudo similar al nudo rapala. Ahora resido en Asia y no paro de intentar pescar GT's con tus señuelos.

@@StephenJansen1 Soy español y tuve la suerte y el privilegio de vivir en México durante tres años , no puedo extrañarlo más, buena gente, buena pesca, magnifica cultura , buen surfing y que decir de Baja. En cerritos he tenido las sesiones de pesca desde orilla más memorables de mi vida, aun recuerdo con pena como un gran jurel me robó un cabo killer, no querían tomar nada y no alcanzaba la distancia con otros señuelos, y zas , ataco el cabo killer(que encontré en la pastora de casualidad un día buceando), con la mala suerte de que el bajo estaba dañado por los ataques de la sierras, gran error que no volveré a cometer. Muchas gracias por tus videos, somos muchos los que te seguimos y sueño con volver algún día y obtener tan buenos resultados como tu¡¡¡ pero el maestro es el maestro, gracias por tus videos y buena pesca ¡¡¡¡ de tu gama de productos , cual es el que recomiendas más para los róbalos??

No, la verdad no.un carrete 4500 es muy pequeño, no recupera suficiente rápido ni tiene la capacidad requerida.
