I first visited Cabo San Lucas when I was 20 years old. That was in 1971. An American named Bud Parr had fished down there for several years and the fishing was a secret from the Americans and incredible; especially for blue marlin, dorado which goes by the name of Mahi Mahi, wahoo, rooster fish, grouper, bonita and many other species. Bud Parr was so enamored by the area that he built the first hotel and named it Hotel Cabo San Lucas. All the rooms were built on grade. It was so kick-back that when you went swimming in their pool, you were often accompanied by their two black labs. All meals were inclusive and the food was fantastc. Dining every night in the warm air while looking the pacific ocean at its best and listening to the live mariachi band. It was not uncommon for the tourists to catch 5 blue marlin every day. They ranged from 100 lbs to 300 lbs and occasionally a 500 pounder, I preferred going out and doing in shore fishing for the smaller species that were edible. I did not care for the taste of marlin. Their airport was a dirt landlng strip. You would fly into La Paz and charter a 2 to 4 seater plane that would get you there in 30 or 40 minutes or hire a taxi for a long 2 hour ride on dusty roads with no air conditionng in the taxi. If you were my age back then, you probably would have moved to Cabo! One problem as there was no internet then and no You Tube,. Sorry for such a long comment.
Appreciate your comment Mr. Garris. These sort of stories from older outdoorsmen and the experience from your era is always fascinating. Unfortunately, given the state of he planet now, it feels like a dream of the past, and everything beyond is a watered down version. Nevertheless, this world is meant to be experienced, with feet on the soil and an open mind. Cheers.
That was a blast to watch in 480P and with that music and excellent narration it feels nostalgic like it's in the 1970's. I am in La Paz now. I did some fishing in Cabo last week where I caught a beauty sierra mackerel on my paddleboard using a vib- lure. I had it cooked up soon after at a beach restaurant. It was amazing and I was surprised because it was cooked up special in four different ways, I liked them all. Since I drove my truck camper down here I'm really getting my fill.
Really liked that mix up between holiday and fishing and it gives the video a fresh overview of different cultures and places with a bit of fishing....good job love it
Loved loved loved it! I just called my sister and said we’re going to do this and she’s like oh my god that sounds amazing! Thank you so much Brenden! I really love this style of video. Keep it up! And as always …THE MUSIC WAS DOPE!!!
@@HeySkipper thanks for your kind reply.. Blessings and good health coupled with a growing success friends.. So sorry that Mr. Mike had suffered vertigo.. Hopefully, that won't return anytime soon.
Excellent ! Try the triggerfish's filets cookeed in low heat with a pan and garlic butter, salt& peppers... French way ! guaranteed treat! Thanks for your Time 👍🏻
Nice Jack! That's the same beach in Cabo, where I caught my Giant Mexican Needle Fish, off a Gulp sandworm on a Carolina Rig! Enjoy your vacation there!
@@HeySkipper Have you tried marlin fishing over there? I caught 2 Striped Marlins each 150 lbs on one of the small pangas, captained by a local (sorry for the pun) skipper! It was much cheaper (you can negotiate the price) than chartering one of the bigger boats, which we also tried and didn't hookup on any marlin. On the panga, we would've hooked up on a 3rd marlin, but my wife didn't want the challenge! LOL
I have fished off that beach and others nearby. I've seen people casting out some really big chunks of tuna out there. I was fishing for smaller fish with Lug Worms. The Mexicans were catching those boxy looking fish with the white polka dots and they were keeping them to take home for dinner. I enjoyed fishing off the beach in Cabo San Jose..
Caught plenty of trigger fish from shore and man they are fun to catch. And really difficult to fillet. Goof seeing you guys enjoy your catch. The fish tastes supringly sweet
You are my 1st UA-camr in fishing channels. I saw u again after couple of year. In Pakistan not found any best spot like as your spot of fishing. I ask how catch upper fish with hook
maybe one day you can come visit this place! i have never been to pakistan but would love to go one day. thanks for watching my friend and have a happy new year!
@@HeySkipper We had a good time but didn't catch anything. We only saw a couple Mackerel that other locals caught. Nobody was catching anything. We saw probably 40 locals fishing there. Where did your dad catch the jack?
@@HeySkipper I want to make a trip down to Cabo San Lucas to catch some big Rooster fish when they run heavy there. We have a Resort to stay at too!! Big trip, lots of peeps, fun time!
