I'm pretty sure anyone selling emergency vehicles is required to either remove or disable all emergency lights and sirens. It sounds like someone got lazy and just cut everything. What a hassle. New viewer... you're inspirational.
Funny thing is, it wasn’t supposed to. We learned from the Leon County fleet management workers that the people they trade the rigs into are supposed to remove or cover the markings. They didn’t. We even asked the guy who worked at the lot we bought it from to cover or remove them, and exchange the red side lights for clear. He said he would but… he didn’t. The chief was not happy when he saw 2 kids driving around in one of their old marked rigs…. But not our fault that some people didn’t do their job.
Damn, looks like me and my new van Im trying to convert. It ran great for two months running errands and just getting used to it empty at first. Then all of a sudden its running and shifting all jacked up, stupid traction control, etc. Im not gonna let it stop me, though. $150hr labor at a shop? ill take my chances. Even as a novice mechanic. Keep up the good work, yall!
That’s wild. There’s no better motivation than the going labor rate for you to get out and try to fix stuff yourself. 😆 Especially since the internet can help you troubleshoot. Hopefully you can get those van bugs worked out soon.
Yea, turns out that someone stole a bunch of fuses from our truck while it sat in the lot in Ocala. Since there were multiple of the same truck, I’m assuming one of the buyers (or workers) took the liberty to shop for spares on our truck.
That’s a great question. We didn’t cover it in the video, but all of these things were working when we checked it out. Someone stole about 6 of our fuses from the panel under the hood, while it sat in that lot. We had it towed from the Iot so we had no idea we were missing fuses when we initially got it on the road. I imagine it was someone who bought one of the other 4 ambulances in the lot that was just like ours.
Hey brother, congrats on everything. Also I am veteran, so I enjoy watching other veterans live a good life because so many don’t.
When he said "Man what a deal we got on this thing..." I think we have all been there

Surprised they let it drive away with all the county stenciling still on it.. what a difference from how it looks now!

Oh man, electrical bugs are hell. At least it's not engine electrical. That motor sounds healthy as far as I can tell.

Did you check fuses!!!
That explains the $3k price.
Those medium duty GM trucks have been out of production for quite awhile now,,parts are getting to be hard to find or not available at all
True. Buying an entire donor truck is on our list of "maybe one day".
How u didn't know about all this issues
i better not buy the 1st/2nd one i like!!!! before i check everything like 100%
