Thank you! As a K27 owner I'm sure the K community needs more video like that. I have a dream: a Kurzweil Virtual University where users can learn the power of these incredibile workstations

Thank you for this video. I’m a long time Kurzweil user and find the workflow one of the best. It’s all just as it should be; frequency in hz, levels in db, etc. Assigning controls is obvious; choose a parameter and move a controller, change a value with the encoder or simply enter it with the keypad. But the real standout for me is that the workflow has remained both consistent and steadily improved for nearly 40 years. Oh, and it sounds absolutely incredible. The K2700 is simply unmatched.

How do I make a click track on the k2700?

Dear Kurzweil, please keep the small screen and current workflow. The free Soundtower editors are more than enough if additional help is needed with programming. Touch screens have been repeatedly demonstrated to be obnoxious on other synths.

This video clearly showcases both the power of VAST and the lacking of the UI

Let me start by saying i really appreciate you taking the time to make this very detailed tutorial, step by step. So everything i'm about to say isn't a criticism about you at all. I own a K2700 for a few months now, and how things are done in VAST (as shown in this video) are the very exact reason i wasn't that keen on diving deep into it.
Making a simple sound of two or three detuned oscillators with a bit of wobble is such a chore on the K2700. Very cumbersome, unintuitive, heavy on menu diving. A thing that on a "regular" synth would take a few seconds amounts to 10 minutes - and that's after editing the video to make it tight and short as possible.
Everything is so "numerical" and about punching in values and pressing Enter, scrolling thru categories, pages, etc. Using friggin equations such as (a+b)/2 and whatnot. Who in the world wants to program a sound and mess about with equations, definitions, values and endless pages?
And some things - either i still don't know or are just beyond me. Such as - the way to get two detuned sawtooth waves is by making a layer with all the settings including envelope, lfo, controllers etc - and then duplicating it, creating a 2nd layer that you detune a bit. So now what? If i change the filter cutoff on one layer it wouldn't affect the second layer (which in some cases could be a good thing if you want to make an interesting layered sound - but for a basic bread and butter sound is cumbersome). Isn't there a simple "several oscillators going thru one filter" algorithm? Almost any synth i can think of - whether hardware or software, is easier to edit and easier to understand.

I love how powerful this keyboard is (literally vast), but it’s frustrating how difficult it is to learn the system. There’s so much untapped potential there with lack of clear documentation and tutorials. This is a SUPER informative vid.

If you want to start learning V.A.S.T., start with a K2000.

It's like programming sounds in Excel but without all of the fun of using Excel.

Dear Kurzweil, Please put a big touch screen on it next time and modern Synth Leads, Pads and Motion synths. The UI is from LCD age. Otherwise it is a great synth keyboard.
