DJI Mavic2 Vision Sensor Error - How to Calibrate Mavic2’s Vision Sensors with ease.

- It's been about 8 months since I used the Mavic 2. One day the drone flew sideways without commands, so I went through controller stick calibration, but the same symptom has persisted. A week later, the " Vision sensor calibration is highly recommended" message popped up on the controller. Took it to home and after successful vision calibration, it flew O.K. It is the compass calibration that I tried to do every time . I did IMU calibration sometimes on the spot for the safety of my drone, but vision calibration was not an often task. But it would be good to do vision calibration on regular basis just in case. So I’d like to demonstrate how to do “Vision Calibration” with your Mavic 2 Pro or Zoom.

1.Why is it important?
The vision sensor system is closely related with “sensing the environment” & "control" of the drone. So if the Mavic 2 vision system is not working correctly, then it may not detect and avoid obstacles which might lead us to unhappy lost or crash of the drone. If you received the Mavic 2 vision system error, or if you notice erratic flight of your drone, or hovering not in the same spot, then it is time for you calibrate the Mavic 2 Vision Positioning System.
2. Personal Experience of Vision Positioning Sensor Calibration - TIP!
The position of the vision sensors are like following; front, lower, rear, and side (left & right). First you need to install the DJI ASSISTANT on your PC. Then, connect the drone using the drone and C type USB cable to your PC. Based on my experience it didn’t work out well with a large screen, especially with 21:9 23” Monitor. I tried calibration again connected with my notebook with much smaller screen, it was much easier and done at once. Recommend to use smaller screen to this task.
3.How to (15 steps)
1) Download the DJI Assistant app, connect your drone with PC with USB cable (Need to remove all propellers)
2) Run the DJI Assistant2 application on the computer and power on Mavic2.
3) Select the Mavic2 displayed on the screen.
4) Click Calibration on the left side in the DJI Assistant 2 software.
5) Watch the tutorial several times to know how to calibrate the Mavic 2
6) Click” Next” and “Calibration Now”.
7)Face the Mavic 2 front sensors at the computer screen.
8)Adjust the position of Mavic 2, so that the green rectangle is covered with a red rectangle.
9) Keep the position of Mavic 2 and move the drone slowly along the blue background.
10) When the Mavic 2 Forward vision sensors are calibrated, a green check mark is displayed.
11) Click “Start Downward Camera Calibration” Start he calibration facing downward vision sensors facing computer, and apply same rule of thumb as you did with front sensor calibration.
12) After the lower part of the sensor, perform Rear Camera Calibration.
13) After the rear sensors, proceed with right side sensor calibration. Then, proceed to the left sensor. (This time you need to fold the back arms under the Mavic2 before starting to calibrate the side vision sensors. You will not be able to fold the leg fully due to the USB cable, but that is normal. Don’t worry.)
14) After a total of five sensors calibration, the DJI Assistant application performs the calculation and, if the calibration is successful, you will see a green check mark saying that Calibration Complete.
15) Once the calibration is complete, restart the drone to complete the entire calibration process.

Thank you for your encouragement. It took a while for me also to figure out this. Due to the prompt that I encountered. At first I was also surprised, and didn't know much about this. Trial & error finally got me free from the possbile encounter of crash or damage to my drone. Enjoy your weekend~^^

아 저도 한참을 헤맸습니다. 21:9 모니터라 매번 실패하고, 모니터를 4:3으로 바꾼 노트북으로 해서야 성공을 해서요.
언젠가 비전 센서 캘리하실때 한번쯤 참조하시기 바랍니다. 언젠가 조종기에서 메시지가 한번은 올라오실 꺼에요~

Jason, thank you for your comment. It seems like definately you started to have interest in drone for filing like Mavic2 Pro, from DJI. Yeah, these prodedures made me free of any possbile issues in the future. I calibrated both of them Mavic2 Zoom and Mavic2 Pro. They are fine fight now. I think DJI has not been in the market when it comes to FPV, and racing drones. But they just started to share their ambition to be more proactive in Racing Drones. I started to like DJI drones very much due to its simplicity with complexity. I mean they are very innovative and well made maching equipped with a lot of sensors and so on. If you would try one of these, you will be on the same wave length. Thank you for your encouragement, Jason.

비젼 캘리는 시간 나실때 해 보시고, 기체가 스틱 조종과 다르게 비행할때는 우선 IMU 캘리를 먼저 해보세요.
곧 캘리브래이션만 모아서 한번 영상 제작해볼까 합니다.

앱을 새로 깔고 caliberation해봐도 똑같은 현상이 생기는데 방법 없을까요?
많은 분들이 그런 문제를 느끼고 계시는군요. 아무래도 호환성 문제인것 같네요.
한번 A/S를 받아보는 것이 어떨까요? 그전에 다른 폰으로 test해 볼 필요는 있을 것 같습니다만,
많이 답답하시겠습니다. 저는 이전에 짐벌이 작동이 안되서 아에 기체를 교환 받은 적이 있었습니다.
물론 그땐 Warranty 기간안에 있었으므로 가능하긴 했지만요...

The campany name if DecalGril, and the skin for my Mavci2 Zoom is "Red Baron" whom you might heard of from WWI Germnan ace pilot.
I looked for that design, and found and about a half year ago I purchased it. If you have addintional batteries, then you might order more only of rhte controller~

Did you experience something or get a notification since you calibrated your sensors?
Before the calibration, there was a prompt to urge me to calibrate my vision sensors, No it completly gone, meaning everything is find and dandy. Before the issue, I experienced my drone drift sideways a bit even without my command. When I initiated the QuickShot the drone coundn't execute my command as well, since the drone recognized as if I was putting my fingers on the stick (I was not actually) Now thanks to the vision calibration the problem 100% cleard off^^ I spend 6 packs today to deep dive some of the functinos on my Mavic2.

안녕하세요. 비젼센서캘리가 필요하셨군요. 사실 10번 정도로 21:9말고도 23" 16:9 모니터로 바꿔가며 시도를 해도 잘 안되었습니다. 손이 떨려서 그렇지는 않은가 하며 팔을 고정하고도 시도해 봤는데, 잘 안되고... 찾아보니 DJI 국내외포럼에서도 이런 이야기가 있었고, 정설은 작은 모니터일 수록 잘 된다라고 하더군요. 노트북은 팔을 못잡고 움직여도(본인이 생각했을때는 에러-삐뚤) 의외로 쉽고 간단하게 되었습니다.(성공율 높음) 와이드 모니터 설정은 범용을 생각해서 DJI가 대응을 하지 않은 것 같습니다. 계속 시행착오를 했던 개인의 경험을 바탕으로 말씀드립니다.

구입 후 한번도 날리지 않은 상태에서 캘리브레이팅을 해보았습니다. 그런데 끝나고 나서 Calculating Calibration Information Collected Calibrating 0% 라고 나오고 더 이상 진전이 없습니다. 이유가 뭘까요? @@
이 증상은 본적이 없는데 보통은 fail과 success로 나오거든요.
아마도 실행한 단계에서 제대로 진행이 되지 않았을 가능성이 큽니다.
왜 나는 안되는 걸까요 나도 노트북으로 해봐야 겠네요 ㅡㅡ
노트북이 확실히 성공율이 높습니다. 21:9는 모니터 특성상 안맞는 것 같습니다.
대신 화면 비율을 16:9로 전환하시면 될지도 모르겠습니다만.
노트북으로 했을때 확실히 더 잘되었습니다.
특이 사항은 손은 고정한체 기체만 움직여야 한다는...
시작전 tutorial의 영상을 잘 보시고 따라하시면 됩니다.
