Hmm how did you comment two minutes before hand… TIME TRAVEL!

@@HaiTaiBai before publishing a video they can comment on it
but have you considered that all the other The Witcher covers also suck ass
Just respond with “I couldn’t get an original at a price I could afford.” In a sad tone, this has at least a 75% chance of placating them. Keep in mind that it will significantly lower based on how expensive your clothing looks.
You're poor? Ew!
@Rain-49 It won't, but they won't kick you anyways
@Rain-49"you can't afford clothes but can afford a book?"
True tho. Any original book cover versions just disappear once the movie version comes up.
Perchance
Jokes on you! This is the book adaption of the film adaptation of the book!
(Yes, those actually exist)
Never heard of that. But I have heard of a film adaptation of a book adaptation of the real events.
AKA 300.
@@Tjalve70That's actually more like a film adaptation of a comic book adaptation of a film adaptation of real events
There's literally a video game adaptation of Street Fighter: The Movie. Sometimes colloquially known as Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game.
@@XenFPV Was the comic book adapted from a film?
I didn't know that. I thought it was based directly on the real events.
@@ImpacatusThis reminds me of the LEGO Movie LEGO sets.
Hi, I noticed that your copy of Call of Cthulhu has an accurate depiction The Great Dreamer himself on its cover. Half the cafe has gone mad from viewing it. Have you considered investing in a stretchy fabric cover for your book?

the solution? simply do not read books
Love the idea of walking into a movie themed pub with a wrong version of the book, and everyone gets so pissed that a brawl breaks loose
What do you mean "movie themed pub" it's Waterstones. A book shop. That sometimes has a combination cafe
Waterstones isn't a 'movie themed pub' lol
@@ewanscott5331 I mean in general, not specifically Waterstones
I must say, you are quite the cool lookin Pea™!
Like that Pulp Fiction themed one they made in the show Community, I can see a brawl there, but a Harry Potter themed pub sounds dope tho
You shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but you can judge a man by the book cover he chooses.
but can you judge a cover by the man it books though?
I remember opening my book on my device (yes I couldn't afford an irl one) and people sitting around me giving weird looks because of the book cover. The one with "*that's* the kind of books you read?". I have a book that has not only the cover, but the whole DVD wrapping. Like, there are pictures and credits at the back and everything. Never seen that before. But, hey, can't be too picky with the used books. 😅😆
What was the title?
@@PeperonyChease The Host by Stephanie Meyer.
I have two books with the movie covers - Eragon and Stephen King's The Green Mile - and both books have one or more sections throughout with a few pages of still shots from the respective movie.
I don't remember where I bought The Green Mile from.. might've been second hand as well, but I chose Eragon from a bookstore that I did an internship in as part of school. On the last day the owner told be I can choose any book and since I had read a few pages while working there (it was a small store and rarely busy) I chose that one. I liked the story and the visuals of the movie weren't bad either so I didn't mind the design.
@@syrtajust wanted to leave a reply because it's so uncommon to hear anyone talk about Eragon (the books of course, not the movie). Which really is a shame.
I was listening to this like, "Hmm, another video from the master of comedy"
"We're gonna kick the fuck out of you."
"Oh."
*sounds of people standing up*
"AH-"
Finally someone said it, I did NOT want to be the guy who had to start the mauling.
That escalated way too quickly
I’m not ashamed of my movie-cover book. I saw the movie first and really liked it, so when I saw the book in a bookstore, I decided to buy it.
Specifically kick, not beat
I know it isn't quite the same, but this makes me think of how the sequel to Jurassic Park is about Ian Malcolm, a character who *dies* in the first book, but survives in the movie.
And somehow is alive in the second book, but he doesn't want to talk about it
that is a genuine fear of mine
You should be afraid.
A fear of encountering a person with a film version photo on the cover of their book? Same
Hearing someone say "fuck" uncensored on UA-cam is really refreshing.
same, i love hearing people fuck
To be fair, novelizations of movies is a weird branch of literacy
I mean for an example look at how the novelization of Austin Powers described the scene where he managed to get a car perfectly perpenticular in a hallway when trying to turn around
I need to read that now.
Do they use words like 'examble'?
@@PeperonyCheaseI don't recall grammar nazies in the movies so I don't think so
I'm rather partial to the novelizations of kids movies because they don't even try. I remember reading the book for the 1st Pokemon movie as a kid and genuinely wondering who it was for. If you've not seen the movie it wouldn't make any damn sense, but if you've seen the movie why in the heck are you reading a shitty adaptation?
@@TheWrathAboveI bought the novelization of the Sunyshore City episodes because I write extensive Volkner fanfiction and wanted to own some “official” content. 😂

This is why I buy vintage hardcovers of my books. Instead of threats, people are far more likely to offer you written checks (for a minimum of $50) or if the conversation goes well, they might offer their first born daughter's hand in marriage.
i want to get hard cover versions of all my books and get them bound in leather, with gilt lettering on the spine.
unfortunately i do not make nearly enough to do so.
Can confirm, I've made quite a bit off of selling other people's daughters off as brides, 100% worthwhile investment.
For those that don't have functioning brains this is obviously a joke.
@@Reverend_Salem I'd recommend getting some second hand hardcovers in good condition and using the income generated from reading them in public to invest back into higher and higher quality editions. It can take some time, as some people might be intimidated by your impeccable taste, but those who do approach you will surely be willing to reward you handsomely for being such an anchor of culture. Depending on where you go, you might even be able to trade for highly sought-after covers with other connoisseurs!
@@Reverend_Salemyou could always get into bookbinding as a hobby. Probably would save a bit of money in the long term.

I am the haunted owner of one such Lightning Thief novel. It was the only type available to me when I bought the books back then, and so that damnable thing just sits on the shelf, mocking me with its existence, amongst the proper covers of the other novels in the series.

this is literally the sole reason I haven't bought a copy of Dune yet, because there's a really nice cover, but it has a permanent "Now a major motion picture" icon on it. First time I saw it I was like "oh, it's a sticker", but NOOOOOOO. That would be TOOOOO EASY
It's a hardcover, it'll survive a few bloodstains.
the angry sounds of tables and chairs being pushed out of the way from people angerly standing up will forever haunt me

I actually have a copy of _The Hobbit_ where the cover says something like, "Soon to be adapted into a major motion picture."
I wish I didn't. (,:
I have one of The Maze Runner that had a BIG FAT sticker that said ''now a major motion picture'' luckily It was just that, a sticker, and I removed it without much issue.
My parents gave me their copies of LotR + Hobbit a while back and the 3 LotR books are all from 1999 with sleek minimalist covers and the copy of The Hobbit is from 2012 with "Now a Major Motion Picture" Plastered on the front. Truly an awful mix

Ya know, this is very fair. Movie-poster-cover-book readers commit sin by existing
Ok, but… the new Dune book is REALLY cool. The edges of the pages are blue, so it looks dope.
I saw the movie first and really liked it. Later I walked into a bookstore and saw the book for sale, so I bought it and it became my favorite book. So what’s wrong with that?
(It’s _Memoirs of a Geisha_ BTW.)
@@genghisn7 yeah, I normally hate both movie poster book covers and books that change their title to fit with the film, but I have a copy of Get Carter (formerly Jack's Return Home) with a rare black and white photo of Michael Caine wielding a pump action shotgun at the camera (he uses a double-barrelled in the movie, hence the rarity) and I will not apologise for it because the design is fucking awesome. Not to mention that Get Carter is actually a much better title for a pulpy gangster novel than Jack's Return Home.
I went through a phase where I had a reading copy (a cheap paperback) and a for best fancy copy (a first edition or folio society type). I then realised that that’s a really silly thing to do and now actually read the fancy copies.
You may come to regret doing that in later life when you find out how much mint copies of the first edition are worth. I have a few signed first editions and they never leave the bookshelf (they may never be worth all that much, but why take the chance?). My reading copies, on the other hand, have cracked spines, torn pages, and spilled drink stains all over them.
i can just imagine this person having went to all of the other tables in the cafe first to explain the situation. you look over and you just see them leaning on their table like
"yeah, no see that guy there?" *they turn to look at you*
"ah, yeah, no problem, we understand"
and then the person moves to the next table, before they finally reach you. as soon as they finish their sentence, as you can hear in this video, everyone immediately scrambles out of their chairs, including you, as you are attempting to leave
Imagine the horror of seeing someone reading a Percy Jackson book with the movie version on the cover💀

The sound after the end of the 'kick the fuck out of ye' shows that Ross Sayers is very pissed off. Sayers33, better run!

How I feel having a Sherlock Holmes book with the BBC actors on the cover. But then I also have a large hardcover Sherlock Holmes book with more stories, golden edged pages, bonded-leather binding, and a ribbon bookmark, so I think that makes up for it.

I remember in high school I was assigned to do a book report and I chose a sci-fi novel... Total Recall by Piers Anthony! That doesn't sound right? Well the teacher asked me if the book was based on the movie or vice versa and I had never heard of movies being adapted as books so I said of course the movie is based on the book and she bought it! And that's how I inadvertently lied to my high school English teacher to get a fun book to read for my book report.
Of course we all know the real fight is with the publisher and not someone who is supporting the author by purchasing a fresh copy of the book.
