What is a read-only or write protection pen drive/USB? Actually, write protection can either be virtual or physical. Write protection is called read only. If a USB is enabled with write protection, it can neither write new files nor change the old ones. It would ultimately allow you to only read the data that is stored in the USB.

I tried everything nothing is working, downloaded other free programs but nothing is working. There is no security tab under properties and no write protection option in Regedit.exe. Please help me😅

What can we do if none of the above work ? I found an old SD card in a box I stored away 3 years ago, I forgot the write protect password and have changed my PC twice since then.

Hi I have a problem regarding DPC_ WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. I have watched your video but it is not solved. Usually it happens a gap of 2 days. It shows the blue screen, stays nearly 20 secs and then reboots automatically. Mainly when I shut down the laptop with power (adapter) but next time boots without adapter ( in battery) it happens often. Do you have a solution?

have a sandisk 120gb drive. step 1. - no lock switch on usb pen drive 2. step 2 - after hitting apply get error msg saying "media is write protected" and wont allow change. 3. diskpart - actions do not work, still says media is write protected, even after pc re-start. 4. regedit - no work either. still cant delete files from drive or re-format it.

While I run below command
chkdsk /f G:
being an elevated user, got the below message:
The type of the file system is RAW.
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.

Don't hold your breath. People like this guy only do the 'easy stuff' - they don't want to know when their 'advice' is worthless - as most of them are. Probably better off throwing the usb out, driving over it, burning it, then throwing it off a cliff. Go back and do some research into decent usb drives that aren't write protected pieces of crap, that aren't made in chyna and that will allow you to see and access the 'security' tab under 'properties' so you that can change thngs.
hi quick question: for Solution #3, in typing "attributes disk clear readonly" , that will not delete any of the files on the usb, right?

I have a usb drive kingston exodia for a few months and suddenly I got an error and when I plugged in again, it says that is write protected (I was on Zorin linux btw). I can open the drive, I can see the files and I can see how much storage is left but I can't remove or put files on it.

Try to insert the usb to your android using otg. It fixed my usb right away.

None of them worked for me. Been trying this kind of methods for a month. and when I click proprieties on my usb drive it doesn't show security, only general, tools, hardware, sharing, customize. :/ I used this usb a lot for my car's playlist, often add/remove songs and never had a problem. ps: usb doesn't have a write prot switch.
